INVITES YOU To enrich your en plein air painting experience with fellow artists in this exciting
PAINTING WORKSHOP AT PEMAQUID POINT, MAINE
SEPTEMBER 21 to 26, 2015
You may wish to attend 3 days or 6 days
(Monday - Wednesday focus on watercolor; Thursday - Saturday focus on oils.)
Mid-Coast Maine at Pemaquid Point, one of Sally's favorite
places, will inspire your paintings, as it has for generations of
artists. Known for its picturesque lighthouse, Pemaquid Pt. offers
a variety of perfect views for painting: bay overviews, a wealth of
color, Maine subjects from the rocky coast, crashing surf, serene
sunsets, fishing boats, sail boats, a variety of pleasure crafts, to
Colonial New England charm with flora and fauna abounding. Give
yourself the overwhelming joy to experience the light and color that
has inspired artists like Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth and
offers you a breathtaking inspiration for your brushes to capture.
The freshness of the air in September is crisp and clean and the
sun still warm and bright. By the week's end the leaves might
begin to show their Autumn brilliance, too.
To expand your creativity in your chosen medium, come join us in
this workshop to paint outdoors in the company of artists like
yourself who have some drawing and painting experience.
Whether your favorite medium is watercolor or oil, Sally will help
you develop your potential. Sally will begin each day with
instruction in the adjacent Carriage House studio or outdoors,
demonstrating watercolor painting techniques from Monday to
Wednesday, and oil painting from Thursday to Saturday. You may
wish to paint for 3 days or 6 days in either medium or both. Also,
the studio will be available in the event of inclement weather.
An expert colorist she has had over 25 years of experience in
teaching painting and color theory professionally at RISD, UMass,
CCRI and in Museum and art school courses. Explaining the use
of color theories of Munsell and Itten, Sally will help you to utilize
their effectiveness in creating living expression and the passion of
creating works of art outdoors. Daily individual and group
critiques will help you with your compositional and design
choices. By showing you options to unify your inspiration with your
techniques, Sally’s goal is to share the joy of creation and give you
confidence

Our gracious hosts at Hotel Pemaquid have set
aside rooms for us in one of the most unique,
comfortable, thoughtfully and aesthetically
renovated, reasonably priced accommodations
of New England charm, for which Maine is
noted. We plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon,
September 20, and depart on Saturday
afternoon, September 26. After your workshop
registration acceptance by Sally, please make
your reservation at the Hotel, for either the 6day or the 3-day workshop, being
sure to
mention that you will be in the Sally Caswell
Painting Workshop. Hotel accommodations
are a separate fee from tuition. The Hotel

How To Register for the Workshop
Workshop tuition is payable by check, or Credit
Card to Sally Caswell, on the registration form
found on the next page. The tuition for three
days is $350.00, or $595.00 for for six day
workshop. A $150.00 registration deposit will
hold your place. Enrollment is limited, so please
be sure to register early. The deadline for
registration is July 31, 2015. Register before
June 15 and receive a 5% discount.
Cancellations up to one month before the
workshop will be charged a $50.00 handling fee.
Full tuition refunds minus the fee will be given to
later cancellations only if the space can be
filled by an available wait-listed student.
Upon receipt of your $150 deposit, you will
receive directions and a list of materials.
