2016 ILHIA Training Conference
October 10-12, 2016
The Westin Chicago Northwest Hotel • Itasca, IL
The primary goal of the Illinois Homicide Investigators Association (ILHIA) is to support law
enforcement officers and prosecutors by providing professional training, leadership, and resources essential
to solving homicide cases and criminal investigations. This two-day Conference will provide attendees with
main and breakout sessions that focus on some of the most crucial aspects of homicide and criminal investigations. Instructors from across the country with years of investigative experience will provide practical
information for those assigned to investigate homicides, violent crimes and other criminal offenses.
ILHIA has planned optional events for Monday, October 10, 2016, starting with early registration at
4:00pm. A presentation will begin promptly at 6:00pm, followed by networking at 7:30pm.
The Conference will begin Tuesday morning, October 11, 2016, with the Opening Ceremony at 9:00am.
The ILHIA is also very excited to present Delta Force Commander Pete Blaber (ret.) as its 2016 morning
presenter. Commander Blaber took part in some of the most dangerous, controversial, and significant
military and political events of our time, including the hunt for Osama Bin Laden during Operation
Anaconda. Author of “The Mission, the Men, and Me”, Commander Blaber will provide a presentation on
leadership, the will to succeed, and overcoming bureaucratic adversity. Following Commander Blaber’s
presentation, the ILHIA Awards and lunch, Tuesday afternoon will continue with Breakout Sessions and
Networking.
Training will resume on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, with Breakout Sessions held in the morning and
afternoon, running simultaneously. While not complete, the breakout classes scheduled to date include:
The Aaron Hernandez (New England Patriots) Homicide Case -- Massachusetts State Police
The Aurora Colorado Theater Shooting -- Aurora (CO) Police Department
Cranial Blood Spatter -- CSI Celestine Rossi, Montgomery County (TX) Sheriff’s Office
The Psychology of Criminal Actors -- Psychologist William Aprill
