20 Legendary American Songs
BACK David Balph launched his career as an entertainer and trumpet player at the age of six. Early in life he joined the military and performed worldwide serving his country in such stellar groups as the 72nd U.S. Army Band and the 129th Tennessee Army National Guard Band. In 1982 he was honored to perform for President Ronald Reagan. David appeared for the past decade as a featured soloist with the Dixieland Band at Opryland Theme Park and on the General Jackson Showboat for Opryland U.S.A. FRONT 20 Legendary American Songs In 1996 after moving to Nashville, Tennessee, he recorded and released an album – Music, Martinis and Memories. The response encouraged him to tackle an even bigger idea…the CD of beautiful American songs that you now hold in your hand. He has never forgotten the words of advice from his father to "always give more than is expected". With that in mind he came up with the groundbreaking idea of assembling 20 Legendary American Songs in one package, then include as a TRUE BONUS, a CD of 10 classic Christmas standards. After a meeting of the minds with Tim Hayden the co-producer and arranger of these songs, months of research and two years of hard work, the result is an album of American standards that have been re-born in fresh and exciting ways! David and Tim wish you many hours of year round enjoyment listening to this two CD package. Volume 1 David Balph PAGE 2 20 Legendary American Songs 1. Melancholy Baby (4:19) PAGE 3 10. She has always been there when I needed her, continuously giving me help and support in every way possible. She is a jewel and an angel and deserves all the recognition I can shower on her. I want to remember my mother, Mary Jane, and my father, Dale, who gave me what talents I possess, and thanks to my brother Roger for all his musical help through the years and to my sister Patricia, who just plain loves my music. A big thanks to my genuine close friend, Tim Hayden, who I have the highest respect for as a marvelous and amazing musician. He is an extremely creative and original musical arranger and a very talented and professional producer and studio engineer. I've been very fortunate to have this opportunity to co-produce these two albums with Tim and share with him my musical ideas. I would like to thank Arnie Theis, my first record producer and promoter for his belief and support over the many years in my abilities, and to the multitude of fans, especially Jean Wright and Art Hancock, who over the years have given me encouragement, believed in my talents and followed my career in music and my love for the trumpet. David Balph All of us in the music business use the same 12 tones to create our music. It is the rare musician who can turn those same tones into something unique and inspiring. David Balph is one of those musicians. He always came up with just the right thing to play, and made it fun to boot! Thanks Dave, for including me on this creative journey.
