Lyric Theatre Board of Directors voted to move ahead with
the purchase of 7 Green Tree Drive, the building we have
been hoping to acquire and fit up as our new “creation”
facility. At $900,000 pledged to date, we are more than two
thirds of the way to our final Capital Campaign goal of $1.4
million. You can help! Join “The 300.” We are looking for
300 people to give Lyric $1 a day for three years; total pledge
$1,095. We can accept donations in any increment you
choose on a monthly or yearly basis. We can receive
donations directly from your bank or we can charge your
credit card.

FOR LYRICKIDS CAMPS:
SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR | SUMMER CAMP PRODUCER
Lyric Theatre Company’s LyricKids Summer Musical
Theatre Camps provides high-quality, affordable
performance opportunities for youth aged 9 to 12 and 13 to
17. Each weekly camp presents a fully produced 30- to 45minute one-act musical: two separate weekly shows for ages
9 to 12 and a one-week Musical Theatre Cabaret for teens. In
the course of a week’s rehearsal, the creative team--all
qualified teaching artists--engage students in processoriented skill building as dancers, actors, storytellers, singers,
and cast-mates. Each individual’s strengths are assessed and
utilized by the creative team with a strong focus on building
confidence and having fun!
Looking for an opportunity to mentor youth who are
interested in musical theatre? Know someone you can
recommend? The Summer Camp Director role is a
seasonal/full-time (three weeks) position, plus preparation
time. Role and responsibilities:
• Team Leader: facilitates effective and efficient
communication between team members, to LyricKids
participants, and parents of participants, to Producer,
Education Committee and Executive Director.
• Leads team in show selection for each week of camp.
• Provides artistic vision for show that informs design
choices, casting, choreography, etc. within a predetermined budget.
• Provides costume list, props list.
• Chooses audition material.

• Provides all information ahead of time to inform parents –
including character descriptions, costume requirements,
schedule, prop needs, etc.
• Casts show with input from team.
• Creates rehearsal schedule with Music Director,
Choreographer and Student Intern so that needs of team are
met; and so participants’ learning is maximized.
• Rehearses cast members, including blocking, polishing and
actor coaching.
• Runs technical and final dress rehearsal before show opens.
• Supervises participants, counselors and Intern as needed.
• Other tasks as needed.
The Summer Camp Producer role is a seasonal/parttime position. Role and responsibilities:
• The Producer will meet as needed with the Director (and/or
other directors) in the spring to assist with camp planning,
help select shows.
• Works closely with the Director to make artistic vision
work re: set design, lighting design, and sound design within
a predetermined budget. Report to Education Committee if
special show needs are required.
• Helps plan out the weeks’ schedule before camps start so
that time and effort would be maximized.
• Makes sure all camp mailing material is received from team
three weeks prior to each camp, edited and sent to office to
be mailed.
• Works with the Education Committee and team to hire the
CITs (2) each week and Technical Director/Intern (1)
positions.
• Be available for Monday check-in for each week of camp.
• Be available on a part-time basis (at least 10 hours) during
each week of camp to confer and troubleshoot with the
directors/team. Should check in regularly to pick up receipts
and run things back and forth to the warehouse/Lyric office
and pick up materials that need to be purchased.
• Organizes the Cast Party. Solicits help from Education
Committee if needed.
• Puts together the weekly show program. One of the CIT’s
can do the program as long as the Producer proofs it each
week. The committee recommends the use of student created
artwork on cover.
• Acts as a liaison for (Education Committee) for each week
of LyricKids camp and provide back-up to team.

BOARD CHAIR’S MESSAGE

Hard to believe we are halfway through another season
with New Year’s Day just a few weeks away. Our 41st season
is off to a great start in large part due to: 1) the efforts of all
those involved in making The Producers another fabulous
Lyric show; 2) the cast of Legally Blonde set, and along with
the entire production team, raring to go for what I am sure
will be yet another great Lyric show; and 3) the Lyric Winter
Cabaret ensemble ready to kick off another New Year at First
Night. Our Capital Campaign is progressing well and we are
in the home stretch. We will be purchasing the 7 Green Tree
Drive property shortly after the first of the year. We need one
final push to raise the last amount of funds to renovate and
rehab the property for our needs. We’re so close to being
able to rehearse and build each show under one roof. If you
have already contributed to the Capital Campaign, I can’t
thank you enough. If you have not contributed to the Capital
Campaign yet, please consider a pledge. Any amount is
greatly appreciated and can be paid over three years. If you
have the capacity, consider joining the 300 Club and bring
the Capital Campaign to a close by making a $1,000 pledge

PRESENTS INTO THE WOODS ON DECEMBER 25TH
Support Lyric Theatre Company by joining us on
Christmas Day Evening for the premiere of the much
anticipated film version of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the
Woods at Palace 9 Cinemas, 10 Fayette Drive, South
Burlington. Members of Lyric will perform at 6:30 p.m. and
the film will begin at 7:00 p.m. There will be a raffle, prizes,
and, of course, singing. You must pre-order your tickets

This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic
tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood
(Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel
Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy), all tied
together by an original story involving a Baker and his Wife
(James Corden and Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family
and their interaction with the Witch (Meryl Streep), who has
put a curse on them.
Rob Marshall, the acclaimed filmmaker behind
Chicago, directs the film, which is based on the Tony®winning original musical by legendary composer Stephen
Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics and James
Lapine, who also penned the screenplay.

RING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH
LYRIC’S WINTER CABARET ENSEMBLE

The Lyric Winter Cabaret Ensemble performs A Lyric
for the Ages: Back in Time at the First United Methodist
Church, corner of South Winooski Avenue and Buell Street,
at 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on December 31st. The cast
includes: Kim Anderson, Justin Bouvier, Nathan Brown,
Lloyd Dugger, Shannon Dugger, Victoria Fearn, Pearl
Guerriere, Brice Guerriere, Beckett Pintair, Stefanie
Weigand, and Taegan Yardley. Next stop, First Night.

MARY POPPINS WILL BE FLYING INTO THE FLYNN

Lyric Theatre is excited to announce that it will be
bringing Mary Poppins to the Flynn for two weekends in the
spring of 2016.
This magical musical includes all-time favorites like
Spoon Full of Sugar, Feed The Birds, Step In Time, Let’s Go
Fly a Kite, plus some new songs created for the stage
version. The Lyric team includes Rob Parzych as Production
Supervisor, Tim Maynes as Artistic Director, Martin Hain as
Music Director, Kate Whalen as Choreographer, and Freda
Tutt as Stage Manager. Stay tuned for updates. It is going to
be Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!
THE ARABIAN NIGHTS COMES TO SOUTH BURLINGTON

The magic of storytelling will be showcased in The
Arabian Nights presented by the Frederick Tuttle Drama
Department in association with the First Light Theatre
Project. Twenty-one cast members play nearly 80 characters
in an assortment of stories as varied as life itself. Many tales
are framed with original music and dance and offer a
wonderful blend of the lesser-known tales from Arabian
Nights. The reoccurring theme of the play is how the magic
of story-telling holds the power to change people.
The play is directed by David Bailey, Jen Richter and 9th
grade student directors Olivia Steinfeld and Sam Houlihan
with musical direction by Mary Alice Ryan and
choreography by Neerja Patel. Performances will be Friday
and Saturday, January 9th and 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the South
Burlington High School auditorium. Tickets are $8 ($6 for
seniors and children under 16) and will be available at Tuttle
Middle School or at the door on the nights of the show. For

I’M DREAMING OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS…
Winter will be coming early to Lyric in 2015 with the
presentation of Irving Berlin's White Christmas! Sarah and I
are ecstatic to join the wonderful artistic team of Erin Evarts
(Artistic Director), Nate Venet (Music Director) and Jen
Barden (Choreographer) to present Lyric’s fall 2015
production. White Christmas features the unforgettable music
of Irving Berlin with such show-stoppers as Blue Skies, I
Love a Piano and, of course, White Christmas. This show
combines the essence of a classic Vermont holiday
celebration with a tribute to the true spirit of community,
decency and goodwill, set against Berlin's wonderful score
and high energy choreography.
We are looking forward to auditioning men and women
ages 15+ as well as one girl for the wonderful role of Susan.
There are tremendous small and large group dance numbers
and many named leads and ensemble parts. So dust off your
dancing shoes and mark your calendars for August 2015 to
audition and join the White Christmas team! There will be

LEGALLY BLONDE DOG AUDITIONS

Do you have a dog who longs to be in the spotlight? Dog
auditions are Saturday, January 10th, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
at the new warehouse, 7 Green Tree Drive, South Burlington.
We hope to cast a Chihuahua as Elle’s dog, Bruiser, and
cast a bulldog as Paulette’s dog, Rufus. If we do not find a
good match in those breeds, we will consider other breeds—
with a preference toward those breeds that are most
physically similar to the original breeds. Temperament is
critical. We need to find dogs that are good around people,
comfortable in large spaces and around another dog, and that
either know or can learn the tasks that they need to perform
consistently in the show.
Pre-registration is highly recommended so that we don’t
have a large number of dogs all show up at the same time
waiting to audition. You may pre-register by emailing Stage
Manager Sean Leach at [email protected].
What should I bring to dog auditions? Your dog!
Also, dog treats for motivation, poop bags, a leash, a kennel
if your dog is most comfortable waiting in one, and a dog toy
if that helps your dog relax or behave. We highly recommend
that you fill out the Doggie Audition Form and the Audition
Policy, Procedures and Rights Form which you’ll find on the
Lyric website—www.lyrictheatrevt.org.
