The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has encouraged amateur short film makers to
narrate the essence of Maharashtra with a chance to showcase their talent at the Pune International Film
Festival (PIFF).
The short films will be judged on their cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence showcasing the natural
heritage, traditional heritage and the culture of Maharashtra in Marathi, Hindi and English.
Every destination in Maharashtra has a scenic importance. Its rich biodiversity has a variety of terrains, from
beaches to hills, from plateaus and jungles to water bodies, which can be best described through audiovisuals. Along with geological formations, the state has 80% of the caves in India and the maximum number
of forts in the plains, hills and islands. The culture, food, festivals and traditions of Maharashtra is worth
experiencing and showcasing in these films.
The initiative of MTDC has plotted the state on the global tourism map through the medium of cinema at the
Pune International Film Festival. The best films will be showcased to promote tourism in the state. Srimati
Valsa Nair- Singh, Tourism Secretary GoM, Managing Director, MTDC, said, "Visuals speak more than a
thousand words. With technological advancement mobile phones have become a very handy tool to take
pictures, videos and to browse information. These can also be used for submitting the video films".
MTDC wishes all the filmmakers the very best for the MTDC short film competition.
