Kristin Lyle and Jake skated in their second Nationals and earned the 5th place Hinish. They too, were thrilled with their programs and personal best score of 34.12 Both teams enjoyed the competition and said that it was thrilling to compete at Nationals and represent NFSC. They wish to thank their coaches, choreographers, trainers, and NFSC teammates for all the support and encouragement. Congratulations to both teams on a wonderful season, you make NFSC so proud!! She began skating because one of her friends had started skating. Her friend soon quit and Elise continued taking lessons; she found that she loved skating. Elise is 15 years old and skates at the Juvenile level. Her favorite thing about skating is jumping. She loves the double toe-loop. Andrea Vickers in her head coach. Molly is the choreographer for Elise’s new program, which Elise says has an Italian flair, “Love Theme” from Cinema Paradiso. She is looking forward to Skate Nashville and upcoming competitions, she loves to compete! COACHES CORNER Photos from SEGL’s Coaches Tips with Robert Mauti PSA Master Rated Coach, 5 times USFS Nationals Choreographer, 16 years Coaching, Degree in Music, Lived in Nashville over 7 years. *Warm up for about 10 minutes by doing light logging, lunges, jumps and stretching. * When your body is warmed up you are ready to create correct muscle memory and technique. * Try jumping and spinning in both directions. Once you have mastered your jumps and spins in one direction, challenge yourself to rotate in the other direction. It creates a bilaterial strength mentally and physically. * Once you have a new program, try drawing out your program on a sheet of paper . Use all your skating vocabulary such as: turns, steps, transitional maneuvers, and even emotional and musical changes within the arc of the program. * If you do not know how to draw out your turns and steps, ask your coach to help you carve them out. * Most of all, have fun and SMILE! Southern Eastern Great Lakes (SEGL) Competition SEGL competition was held in Cincinati, OH in February. NFSC had 20 skaters enter the competition. Winter weather, ice and snow did not dampen the spirit of our skaters. For the second consecutive year, NFSC won the 2nd place Trophy! NFSC is so proud of our skaters; their enthusiam and team spirit is so contagious! Congrats to all our skaters, your hard work and determination were a beautiful representation of our Club! a Nashville Figure Skating Club BLADE NEWSLETTER AGame Sportsplex 215 Gothic Court Volume Two Franklin, TN 37067 615/778-9825 www.nashvillefsc.org Late Winter, 2015
