Dial Area Code Don’t forget — effective July 17, 2010, all residents in the 715 area code must use the new 10-digit dialing procedure for all local calls. This applies to landline phones and cell phones. After this date, local calls made without the area code will not complete and a recording will instruct callers to hang up and dial again. Residents will continue to dial three digits to reach 911. Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus affirms that to be a disciple we must also sit at his feet and listen to him. St. Vincent de Paul taught that it is only in prayer that we can give selfless loving service to those who are poor. This week, please say a special prayer each day for the poor and forgotten in our parish. The food pantry is in need of canned beef stew, instant mashed potatoes and rice. Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy Religious Education/Youth Ministry Summer Hours (High School office only) Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registrations are being accepted for the 2010-2011 STAA school year. Registration fee is $100/student or $150/family. Register at the High School office, call 715-735-7481. Today’s question to ponder: How do I make people feel welcome and at home, especially at Church? In today’s Gospel we learn that we must take time to listen to Jesus. Sometimes we just need to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen. We can’t be too busy for God. Both Martha and Mary in today’s Gospel showed Jesus hospitality in different ways. There are times when we are like Martha, busy preparing for a visit or meal for relatives or guests only to find out that when the guest leaves we really didn’t get to spend any “quality” time visiting with them. The meal may have been perfect, the house clean but we were so exhausted by all the work that we “missed” the visit completely. Being present, spending time with a person, is how we truly make them feel welcome and at home. This week at Mass take time to introduce yourself to someone you don’t know and truly welcome them as a child of God. Menominee Catholic Central School Summer Hours 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Closed on Mondays and Fridays. Would you like to help them connect with people of faith when they get there? A new website of the Catholic Campus Ministers of Wisconsin can help. At www.goingtocollege.org, students coming to campus can sign up to receive information about campus ministry at their prospective Wisconsin schools, as well as an invitation to get involved. The college years can be an important time for faith development. Don’t miss out on the opportunities to meet great people and experience the prayer, service, and social events that campus ministry offers.
