WAIVERS: York Center Park District does not accept liability for
participants injured in a Park District program. Participants must
furnish their own medical and accident insurance. All participants
must sign the multiple waiver and release form which is located on
the reverse side of the registration form. See waiver on page 17-18.
INSURANCE: The York Center Park District does not provide
medical insurance coverage for those participating in recreation
programs or while using park facilities. Such insurance would
make programs and user fees prohibitive.
CODE OF CONDUCT/BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS: YCPD
participants are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior at all
times. The following is a list of the Park District’s behavior codes,
which have been developed to help make the programs safe and
enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules or guidelines may
be developed for specific programs if deemed necessary by YCPD
staff.
1. Show respect to fellow participants and staff.
2. Abstain from using abusive or foul language.
3. Abstain from causing or threatening bodily harm
to self, fellow participants or staff.
4. Show respect to equipment and facilities.
Additional or individual behavior management plans may be
developed based on the advice of parents, guardians, YCPD staff,
or other professionals. A caring, fair and positive approach will be
utilized regarding the use of any disciplinary methods. Each situation will be evaluated individually and on its own merit. YCPD
reserves the right to dismiss a participant at any time.
AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT (ADA): People with disabilities, please note: The York Center Park District will not discriminate against eligible residents for participation on the basis of a
disabling condition. “We invite any participant with a special need
to contact our staff upon registration so that a smooth inclusion
may occur.” In addition to the programs listed here, our district
provides additional specialized services for people with disabilities
through Gateway, see below for more information.

York Center Park District - Mission & Vision
The York Center Park District was organized in 1971 with the following goals:
l To conduct programs which will enhance the leisure life of residents
and their families.
l To encourage groups to develop such programs.
l To conserve the area’s natural environment values.
l To acquire, protect, and develop other valuable resources.
l To strive to protect the community from environmentally
destructive and degrading influences.
In order to facilitate the achievement of these goals, the
Board of Commissioners has approved a series of policies
and ordinances governing the operation of the district.
Procedures have been developed to carry out these policies. Through these policies and procedures, the Board of
Commissioners and staff of the York Center Park District
maintain their commitment to providing a high quality of
leisure service to all residents of the district.

Notice of Possible Changes in Brochure Listings: The policies,
procedures, requirements, programs, fees and facility availability
contained in this brochure represent the York Center Park District programs and policies at the time of publication. Sometimes
changes in the programs and policies are necessary or desirable after
the brochure is published, but prior to program commencement or
facility operation. In order to provide the best services, programs and
facilities to the public, the district reserves the right to add, change,
modify or delete any program or policy after they have been published. The park district will attempt to make a reasonable effort to

Information
Park Watch: We need your help in keeping the parks clean, safe
and free of vandalism. If you find any broken equipment, or have any
other safety concerns about the facilities, please contact the Park District. If you see vandalism occurring in the parks, please contact the
sheriff’s department by calling 911. The park district is committed
to providing a safe place for recreational activities and would prefer
to enhance the quality of the parks rather than replace vandalized
equipment. Thank you for your support in our efforts to provide the
residents of the park district with quality sites and facilities.
Geese Enthusiasts: Feeding ducks and geese has been a favorite pastime for many people. Unfortunately, Mother Nature never
intended waterfowl to be given food that is provided by humans.
Ducks and geese naturally feed upon aquatic plants, grains, insects
and sometimes fish. Problems arise when the birds are fed unnatural
foods. If you are truly concerned for the welfare of these wild creatures, please do not feed the ducks and geese.
Tree Memorial/Sponsorship Program: This is an opportunity to
remember life’s special moments or commemorate loved ones with a
live tree. It is a unique way to symbolize a birth, wedding day, graduation, retirement or death. Businesses, groups, churches and families
may contribute to our community’s beautification with donations to
the Tree Memorial/Sponsorship Program. You may choose from several varieties of trees. Your tree will be identified with a plaque adjacent to it. Donors will be presented with a certificate. To obtain an
application stop by the office. Trees range in price from $250-$500.
Applications are available at the Administration’s office front desk.
Prairie Path: York Center Park District is proud to have a natural
native Prairie Path in Knolls Park, which is located just two blocks
west of Meyers Road, next to the Montini High School ball fields
on 16th Street. Less than 1% of the natural, native prairies remain in
Illinois. A special thank you goes to Irene Mostek for all of her hard
work and dedication to the Prairie Path.
Photographs: The York Center Park District may take photographs
of people enjoying programs, special events, parks and facilities.
These photographs are used for our publications, recreation guides
or cable programs. They are the sole property of the Park District
and will be used at its discretion. So, the next time you see a camera,
make sure you SMILE.
Pet Owners: When visiting local parks with your pet, please
remember that agency ordinances require dogs to be leashed at all
times. Dogs are not allowed at any time on athletic fields, playground
areas and jogging or bike paths. The person in control of the pet is
responsible for cleaning up waste.

Ageless Grace®
Anti-Aging Fitness Program
Are you having trouble remembering where your car keys are? Do

about preserving or enhancing your ability to perform activities of
daily living as you get older? Turn back the clock by joining ACE®
Group Fitness Certified Instructor and Certified Ageless Grace® Educator Melanie Jordan for this creative, lively chair-based class set to
upbeat popular music with natural moves (no choreography to learn).
Ageless Grace is an anti-aging fitness program for body AND brain
based on the science of neuroplasticity. Each of the 21 simple tools
focus on the healthy longevity of the body, mind, emotions and spirit.
It works the core organs and systems of the body, activates the five
areas of the brain and addresses a primary factor that causes physical
aging and/or cognitive decline. Since the tools are performed in a
chair, this increases stability and range of motion, so baby boomers,
all ages and abilities of seniors and those with weight, joint, diabetes,
MS and other challenges, as well as those in wheelchairs or with
other physical limitations love it! This class is for anyone at any age
who is interested in aging gracefully using timeless anti-aging techniques for the body and brain that almost anyone can do!™

Brighton
Beach Memoirs
Based on Neil Simon’s memoirs of growing up in Brooklyn, this coming-of-age comedy recounts
life in 1937 through the eyes of a young teenage boy. Eugene Jerome, dreaming of baseball and girls,
must cope with the mundane existence of his cramped, Jewish-American family life: an over-worked
father, under-appreciated mother, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his asthmatic Aunt Blanche, her two pampered daughters and Grandpa the Socialist, and you have a recipe
for true hilarity. This bittersweet memoir is an affectionate, entertaining lesson in overcoming hard
times with warmth and humor.
