“I would like to welcome the Nottingham Comedy Festival back to the city for the 7th
consecutive year. I am pleased to see the city’s Royal Concert Hall are once again
joining in with local promoters, businesses and artists to support this ever-growing city
event. This event was established to bring together local and national names and to
provide a platform for new artists to develop their comedy.
The festival is organised by local people who are passionate about comedy and want
to make Nottingham famous for this art form.
I would like to welcome all the artists and visitors to Nottingham and hope you enjoy
the festival and the diverse cultural heritage that the city has to offer.”
Councillor David Trimble - Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture
Hi,
Thanks for picking up the brochure. This year we have over 100 shows taking place all over the city in
many venues, including a bus! We have comedy for all tastes, as well as some suitable for children, so
take a look at our line-up and enjoy!
I am pleased to see the return of many comedians and would like to welcome those joining us for the
first time. Since starting in 2009 the festival has more than doubled in size. We would like to thank Castle
Rock Brewery for their continuous support over these years.
This year at the festival we are supporting The National Autistic Society. This charity helps over 2.7
million people a year. Donations can be made online and buckets will be available at many venues in the
festival so please do donate what you can to help this much needed charity.
I hope you all have a fantastic festival and enjoy all of the shows that are taking place. Don’t be scared to
take a few gambles!
Helen Stead
Festival and NCF Comedy Director

Dave Spikey - Punchlines
Venue: Palace Theatre, Main Stage,
Mansfield
Time: 7.30pm

Punchlines derive their humour from being unexpected

suggests that few punchlines are funny out of context.
There is another school of thought (Dave’s school of
thought) that the opposite can be true and in this new
show he will present evidence to support this.
