Beginning of Shivaji’s Education
Shahaji Raje was a Scholar of Sanskrit.
Shivaji's education began at the age of Seven and soon developed the skills of
reading and writing.
Shahaji Raje appointed teachers to teach Shivaji warfare.
They taught him to ride a horse,to wrestle,to use swords and dandpatta.
Shivaji became acquainted with different branches of learning and arts at the
age of Twelve.
Adilshah sent Shahaji Raje to conquer the States of Nayakas(Local Chiefs)
in Karnatak.
So Raje sent Shivaji and Jijabai to Pune along withelephants,horses,an infantry,treasury,flag,trusted
ministers,generals,teachers.

Veermata Jijabai
She had resolved not to engage Shivaji in the services of others.
Rather, he would establish 'Swaraj'-the rule of own people.
People living in Maval region, called Mavlas were loyal,hardworking and quick
footed.
Shivaji wanted to do something for these miserable people.
Jijabai used to tell him that, Shri Ramchandra was ancestor of Bhonsales and
Shri Krishna was ancestor of Jadhavs and inspired him to destroy the wicked like
them.
By remembering the brave deeds of past heroes like
Rama,Krishna,Bhim,Arjun,Shivaji felt that he must fight against injustice and
bring happiness to his subjects.
