Presidents Report
Bob advised members of the items discussed at the last Committee Meeting. The Charity Run on
13th December 2014 will have a 99% chance of a Police presence, the police can’t commit to a definite 100% in case of a road tragedy which would take precedence. There will be members in high
visibility vests marking the main corners on the Run and Riders need to adhere to all road rules ensuring the safety of all road users. The Charity Run Banners are looking a bit old and sad and need
replacing; also a small Gazebo needs to be purchased for Club events. It has been suggested to hold
back $100 of the funds raised from the Charity Run to help pay for new Banners and the Gazebo,
and raise funds from raffles etc. to make up the shortfall.
Bob has a friend who is Building an ash felt Go Kart track in Donnybrook who would be happy to
allow the IHC to use for TT’s when it is complete. It is a large track of about 8 meters wide with the
ash felt alone costing $12000.00. The track should be complete in 8 or 9 months.
The new Club long sleeved Jackets &Shirts are all available from Glenda Patterson, Neville Green
still has Calendars available and they can also be viewed and purchased on Wild Apricot.
Bob said that if anyone has items to auction they can be stored at his place and he can bring them
along to the meetings a few at a time. The new Honour Board has been erected and there was some
discussion on what to do with the old Honour Board. It had been suggested to Auction it at the next
meeting, but as that caused some controversy by a few members the decision was made to discuss
the fate of the old board at a Committee Meeting in the New Year.
Captains Report
12-11-2014 Mid-Week PM Run
24 Riders 1 Passenger from Bunbury 5 Riders from Busselton.

Darryl Warner had checked out the Kirup Servo who assured him that they were open for food &
drink so we decided to check it out. Bunbury group travelled thru Boyanup, Donnybrook,
Brookhampton whereupon John P's bike decided to die on Brookhampton Rd not far from Kirup.
While the majority of riders continued on, about 7 riders stayed to get bike going. John eventually
made it to Kirup where the mechanic at servo put battery on charge. After hot drinks and with the
weather deteriorating everyone headed for homes while John P. John C. and I waited a bit longer for
battery to increase charge. Eventually we left about 4pm arriving safely home without further mishap. Thanks to everyone who assisted and also for the jumper leads carried by an intrepid rider. The
end result for bike being the death of the alternator.
Pre 48 Run 23-11-2014.
17 Riders 3 Passengers
A great day out to Greenbushes for the group. Syd Taylor spoke about the run and said they had a
great Roast Lunch at the Greenbushes Hotel. They then had the Greenbushes TT which Muzza organised, and Darryl Warner won. They ended the Run at Boyanup with a cold beer and agreed they
all had a great day.
Mandurah Mob Run 23-11-2014 5 Rider s 1 Passenger Mandur ah
8 Riders Bunbury.
Today we arranged to meet Mandurah group in Harvey, we all enjoyed some morning tea and discussed other rides we could do together. Also discussed some meeting places where the groups
could socialise.
Mid-Week AM Run 26-11-2014 18 Rider s 1 Passenger
Arranged for Busso boys to meet at Golden Valley Tree Park, Balingup for a combined morning tea
in the park. Really lucky with the weather although it was humid. Set up morning tea under a large
gazebo where everyone really enjoyed themselves solving the woes of the motorcycle world while
eating and drinking. There were 11 Riders 1 Passenger Bunbury, 7 Busso Riders. Thanks to Barry
Ray for telling me about the park.
Ladies Christmas Dinner 2-12-2014 30 Ladies
A great night out was had by all, with good food & company. There was quite a bit of debauchee
when Santa arrived.
Busso Boys Run 3-12-2014 22 Rider s 2 Passenger s
Excellent turn out for this ride combining 3 groups. Busselton, Bunbury & Manjimup. Bunbury met
Busso Boys at junction of Vasse Hwy & Hithergreen Rd while Manjimup made their own way to
Nannup. The “B's" travelled Vasse Hwy, detouring thru Cundinup to Nannup where there was a
greeting party of a million flies. After a great get together at Blackwood Café and planning of some
more rides and meeting new members, it was time to leave about 1115. There were 3 Manji riders, 7
Riders 2 passengers from Bunbury and 12 Busso Riders. Bunb/Buss returned via Mowen Rd and
Sues Rd, unfortunately Neville G. suffered the indignity of falling off when trying to ride up gravel
embankment. His only worry being if I had my camera rolling (I didn't darn it!). Thanks to Darryl
for organising ride.
5
Ocean Star Nursing Home 6-12-2014 24 Rider s 2 Passenger s
Today we visited the nursing home along with Glenda and grandson to pick up donated goods for
the Charity ride also because there are few Rev Heads there who love to look at the bikes especially
Eleanor who hopped into Santa's sidecar, fluffy pink handbag and all for a burn around the block.
She made a grand return waving royally to all and sundry. She was very impressed with John P's
new Ninja, somehow I don’t think perched on a "Chick's seat" would have looked good. Thanks to
Glenda and Jedd for picking up stuff and to Peter Ecclestone for ferrying Santa. Thanks also to Greg
Carter for donning the red suit and white beard.
Doug Brittain-Memorial Run 9-12-14 30 Rider s 2 Passenger s
Great weather brought everyone out; Bernie planned a meandering 1st section thru Leschenault,
Galway, and Alverstoke on the illustrious Poo Rd. Henty, Dardanup and West Dardanup, Picton into
Bunbury to Pioneer Park for short Remembrance Service for fallen riders conducted by Paul Nutt.
After service riders went along Ocean Dr, Washington Ave, Dalyellup, Bussell Hwy, around
Gelorup finishing at Anthony & Liz's for sausage sizzle where Ann B. & Muriel M. joined the riders. Apart from the flies it was a really great social gathering, thanks to Gardner Family for hosting
club, Bernie for course planning and Eric for back-up. Still intrigued as to why 2 sets of reindeer
antlers were leaning against tree in yard.

Publicity Officers Report
Bill said there had been some trouble getting publicity for the Charity Run on GWN, but Radio
West and the Southwest Times had given us coverage to publicise the event. All permits had been
obtained from the Capel and Bunbury Councils and all that was needed was volunteers to make sure
the No 4 car park was left free of litter after the Run. All Marshalls need to wear high visibility
vests.
Property Officers Report Eddie was away enjoying a well-earned break.
Licensing Liaison Officers Report
A few Bikes have gone through licensing already this month. There is a new form to replace the
E81 for 404 licencing for the owners to fill out that can be photocopied and filled out before going
into the Department of Transport to save a lot of time when you arrive at the office.

General Business
Murray Rudler said the pre 48’s were organising a run on Sunday 28/12/14 at 9.30am which would
start and finish at the BMCC Club rooms. It would be about 50kms and predominately for members who had new restorations that needed a run. Glen Britza reminded the Secretary that a letter
needed to be written to the President of the BMCC asking for permission to use their club rooms
for Examination Day on 15th February 2015.
Ross Eaton asked if anyone was travelling to Perth to have chrome plating done he had some mudguards and handle bars to be plated and he was willing to pay for the member’s fuel to take them
for him.
Brian Cartwright spoke about the Vietnam Run he had just returned from that sounded like a real
adventure. He said the Ride that was run by the Charity Platypus to help school children in Vietnam, had them on the bikes for 12 days with a couple of days before and a couple of days after
for some R and R. They were travelling at speeds of between 6 and 60kms an hour on some very
unforgiving roads, some of which were still under construction. The Charity organised a Tour operator who arranged a Hotel or Home Stay for accommodation.
The Ride was 1800 kms up and around Nth Vietnam and Hanoi, 600 of those kms were on very
bumpy roads filled with pot holes, water and mud. There were 5 brand new 125 Honda trail bikes,
and the rest were 125 Suzuki’s, and old Honda’s. They reached speeds of between 5kms an hour to
about 60kms an hour which was hard going on very bad roads. The scenery was beautiful as were
the Vietnamese people but Brian felt the ride was a tad long. The back-up vehicle carried the luggage, and a few passengers, including Jan McDermott, and Mac Moore after he had a couple of
spills and injured his leg.
Mac was taken to Hospital when he arrived back in Australia and has had a couple of screws put in
his broken leg. The group convinced a couple who had not taken out Travel Insurance to do so,
which was very lucky for them, because they had an accident on the last day of the Ride.
The lady broke her leg and was treated at the scene by the Back-up driver come mechanic come
paramedic, who used a machete to cut some Bamboo splints from the side of the road and then she
was transported to the an International Hospital the other side of Hanoi, were fortunately for her
there was a French Orthopaedic Surgeon who operated and inserted screws into her leg. The Travel
insurance paid for her Hospital Treatment and upgraded her to Business class for the plane trip
back to Australia. There is a moral there.
Rob Harold took a 12 to 14 hour Bus trip to have a look at Cambodia, did 6 to 7 hours of sightseeing and then travelled the 12 to 14 hours back to join the rest of the group. Bernie McCormack
asked if we could hold another Gymkhana at Brookes in the New Year, and Glenda said that she
was already having talks with Jill Brookes about a special IHC day at the Heritage Park
Ray Jordan auctioned the following items; An Ice Cream container of different sized Allen
Keys sold to Russell Jeffrey for $5.00 A Battery Charger was sold to Bernie Ward for $12.00
7
A pair of pre 48 motorcycle gloves sold to Murray Rudler for $12.00. This netted the Calendar fund
$29.00

Recently I had the pleasure of riding my Triumph Thruxton from Roebourne to Tom Price. Myself
and Mario a work mate left Roebourne at 1.30pm on a very hot , blustery Sunday afternoon. I of
course was riding my Triumph and Mario was riding his Harley Davidson Street Glide. with Tracey
being our backup. We rode north on the North West Coastal Highway towards Port Hedland, just
before South Hedland we turned right and headed south on the Great Northern Highway.
Both our bikes were running well despite the hot conditions, we stopped to fill up on the side of the
road. We were enjoying the ride except for the road trains coming towards us in droves peppering
us with sand, pebbles and wind gust coming from their trucks. We stopped at the Auski Roadhouse
for fuel for our bikes and food and fuel for ourselves.
By the time we left the roadhouse it was getting late into the afternoon As we turned on to Karajini
Drive, we were riding straight into the setting sun. It was difficult trying to shield my eyes and see
the road at the same time. The beauty of the surrounding countryside was magnificent.
As I rode on I could see the various colours and hews in layers of rock formed within the surrounding mountains. The scenery was magnificent.. The closer we rode to Tom Price the darker it became, I tucked in behind Mario and used his lighting to enhance my poor dim lights.
Whilst we were riding along I had to think about the ever increasing risk of roaming animals, kangaroos, dingoes, cattle and the occasional emu., ever while enjoying the setting sun behind the
mountain ranges which resulted in a spectacular sky show of light and colours.
By the time we reached the outskirts of Tom Price it was 7.30pm, it was pitch black, I was still riding behind Mario on his Street Glide, we had been fortunate enough not to encounter any vermin
on the road.
Once again my visual senses were assaulted by the beauty of this land. We rode through twisty
windy roads that rose and fell within the mountain ranges and valleys as we continued on our way.
The beauty of the lights from various mines, small cities pierced the night sky and guided us towards our destination.
I arrived in town relieved that we had arrived safely, but buoyed by the fact that we had a great and
enjoyable ride.
