Redding CA ~ Visit Lassen Volcanic National Park and the Wildflowers--AS we took a day trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park this past week, I was amazed at the beauty and richness of this tall forested wild lands. Because of
the volcanic nature of the park, I expected to only see dry and barren volcanic land. I was a misconception on my part.
The park has amazing diversity in areas and topography.
There are four different areas of the park each with a specific ecosystem and climate. The park abounds with nature
and diversity of trees, wildlife and wildflowers. We used to live 45 minutes from Yosemite National Park and the valley and 1.5 hours from the high country of Yosemite. We grew to love identifying the trees and wildflowers. Here are
just a few of the wildflowers that grow within the Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Brewer's Mountain Heather
Crimsom Columbine
Silverleaf Lupin
Pussey Paws

Castle Craigs State Park on the I-5 heading to Mount Shasta is a must see. You will be able to do a quick trip in an
hour off the I-5 and if you desire you can spend days here camping and hiking in this wilderness area. It beautiful and
breathtaking.
This is a shot taking on Castle Creek Road that goes by the park and heads back into the hills. We took this road because if offers more perspective in your views of the Craigs. You will want to go into the Interior of the Park for
camping and hiking. Photography is about perspective and being with the environment all about just being.
