The Beachmere Voice Beachmere Sands is growing, and expansion means a big tractor. You have to be quick to catch David, working around our vast property. www.palmlakeretirement.com.au PAGE 2 Jo Collins - Sales Manager Sales Corner What a difference a year makes. A new one that is! I hope you have all been able to think of a creative New Year’s resolution to make life interesting. Something must be in the air as the New Year seems to have brought some relief in the real estate market, certain sectors are beginning to move again, which means prospective residents able to set up their new lives in our resort. Val, Sylvie and I have been showing off the resort features and facilities, both new and old (nothing personal), to lots of people through January so far, especially on a Thursday so we get ourselves invited for lunch! I do love a construction site…no really! Exciting to see the growth of a new structure, destined to be someone’s future home, to see the rough dirt, then pipes and channels then the layers of concrete and wooden frames and all the inside bits and before you know it the crowning glory of shiny cupboards, bench tops and chrome ware all ready to be used, loved and lived in. So, all the best to those patient folk who’ve been watching their new abode grow. It also means of course we’ll enjoy showing off the new displays instead of gate crashing private homes. You must come and see the new villas when they are up as there have been a few changes in design. Well, that’s about all Sales has to say except that it’s been a busy, challenging, rewarding few months so far getting to grips with this unique place called Beachmere Sands. Val and Sylvie, as you know are locals already and my son and I have settled into our new Queensland lifestyle. I keep reminding my Canberra friends that I go to the beach straight after work while they’re still in traffic! If you haven’t visited us yet, you should … we know you will be impressed. Make an appointment soon , you’ll be so glad you did. See you at lunch…… Jo, Val and Sylvie Phone Sales Free Call: 1800 338 382 THE BEACHMERE VOICE PAGE 3 Keith Arnfield - Resort Manager The latest stage of construction is well under way with 23 new Villas popping up like magic mushrooms all over 206 Bishop Road. The quality of these Villas is exceptional and will sell very quickly, in fact a number have already been purchased. Along with these sales also will come many new Residents, and as our numbers swell so does the participation in the wonderful activities. It is exciting to see all areas of the Club House, Beach House and the other facilities being well patronised. Speaking of new Residents we welcome Philip and Michele to Villa 71, who will move in this month. This Villa was the last in the previous stage to be sold and demonstrates the remarkable achievements of our Sales Team. Our family of Palm Lake Resorts continues to grow with the recent acquisition of Palm Lake Ballina, bringing the total of over 50’s and Retirement Villages to 18, one Care assist and 2 Aged Care facilities. You can be confident in the knowledge that Walter Elliott Holding is a viable and expanding Company. Our little Kiosk is taking on a very professional look with numerous beautifully made craft and jewellery items available at very competitive prices. At the recent “Kiosk comes out” day, just before Christmas, Residents were able to purchase magnificent and unique gifts for their families and friends, which I am sure were a big hit on Christmas Day. We have recently employed two new staff members, Lyn our cleaner, and Kay our cook. Both these ladies have made an immediate impact in their respective roles and we hope they have a long and happy association here at Beachmere Sands. I am excited at the prospects for the Village in 2014 and being the third year since Walter Elliott Holdings acquired this Resort, watching the transition that has taken place since then, I can only see an even brighter and positive future ahead. Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2014 Until next time ... h t i e K The Resort Report Now that the “Silly Season” is over it is back to work in a big and exciting way for Palm Lake Resort Beachmere Sands. PAGE 4 Behind the Counter of ‘The Little Kiosk’ Be part of the "Little Kiosk". There are always changes aplenty for the little kiosk. So mark the date and tell your friends what is happening in the little Kiosk. At that meeting it was agreed that indoor bowls would separate from the Bowls Group and John (V31) was elected as the Team Leader for Indoor Bowls. It was agreed that Indoor Bowls would commence on Monday 3rd February 7pm – 9pm and continue at that time throughout the year. A flyer has been displayed inviting anyone interested in playing to come on the day. THE BEACHMERE VOICE Reports NEWS FLASH At the last Bar Subcommittee Meeting, it was agreed that a 50 cents increase on beers, wines and spirits was reasonable. Please ensure you register your names on the participating lists held in the Library. Correct numbers are essential for catering and bus allocating purposes. PAGE Transport Team Leader: - We ended the year on a very bright note as I am sure all those who did the lights tour will agree. There are a lot of exciting trips on this year I hope you all enjoy. The weekly bus trips will continue as usual. If anybody has any suggestions for outings please let us know. Once again I would like to thank all those men and woman who willingly give up their time to transport all of us lucky people around. A special note of thanks to John Broderick for keeping the buses in such a pristine state. Also I would like to thank Mark and Val Dunleavy for the donation of the outside step for the old bus. Please think carefully when putting your name down on the participating list as deletions at the last minute disadvantage both the drivers and those who miss out. Drivers are organized to do these trips a day in advance and give up their time willingly. THE BEACHMERE VOICE PAGE Villas 65, 73 & 74 had the Christmas spirit and kept the streets alive. A big ‘thank you’ as we had our own Christmas lights, carol singing and community togetherness. Who needed to go anywhere else, it was all here right on our own doorstep.! Cazanne (our postie), looked the part of ‘Santa’s helper’, on her trusty reindeer/bike. Our posties did a magnificent job of delivering masses of Christmas mail to the residents of Beachmere Sands. Thanks guys ... Never too old to enjoy Christmas ... The atmosphere during December was electric. 11 New Year’s Eve at Beachmere Sands VOICE BEACHMERE THE 12 PAGE PAGE Beachmere Sands is privileged to have so many wonderful volunteers, not only working here at Beachmere Sands but in the wider community. Ted and Noela - Villa 74 were recently acknowledged for their generosity and tireless devotion to the Woodford community in their quest to have a permanent information centre established there. The new Moreton Bay Hinterland Visitor Information Centre was recently opened and named in their honour. It will be known as ‘The Ted and Noela Cottage’. What an incredible achievement. Noela & Ted on the steps of ‘Ted & Noela Cottage’ For further information see the Caboolture Times December 18th 2013. Prior to Christmas Ted and Noela set up a Wishing Well here at Beachmere Sands for the RSPCA, and they are pleased to announce they were able to send off a $100 cheque. Ted and Noela would like to thank all who made a donation to this worthy cause. 13 V O L U N T E Miss Merryweather aka Silvia - Villa 38 Sylvia is another of our amazing E R volunteers working in the wider community. Sylvia was ‘captured’ by the Caboolture Times recently in the ‘China House’, the newest addition to the Caboolture Historical Village. I’m sure ‘Miss Merryweather’ had a lot of fun introducing the lovely items of a bygone era to the younger generation, during the latest school holidays. S PAGE 14 Just love hearing music around the Club House ... Visiting Police Pipe Band, swirling the pipes ... Pat (V.43) pumping the bellows on the pianola, in the dining room after lunch. Anyone can try this ask Pat for instructions - you need strong legs! There was a Ukulele lesson in the Craft Room. A reminder to all pet owners. Be considerate of your neighbours, especially if your dog is left alone. All pets are free to be off leash, under supervision on the adjacent farm. On leash at all times throughout the Resort.
