The grade 4 students journeyed to the
National Water Commission a few
weeks ago and were exposed to the
water process, from the river to the
treatment plant, to the pipes and into
our homes. The grade 4 teacher also
invited two ladies from the Water
Commission to her class to address the
children as a follow up of their visit to
the plant.

CCACC Board
Dear CCACC family and friends,
Each day brings with it many new and
difficult challenges, alongside an
abundance of opportunities to
experience God’s love, mercy,
encouragement, empowerment and success.
As we embark on another exciting chapter in the CCACC
story, let us endeavour to lift our eyes -- not to the hills
or the mountains -- but to the Lord God Almighty, from
whom our help comes.
Covenant Christian Academy and Children’s Centre
continues to identify with Paul’s reality: “We are hardpressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are
perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not
forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed” (2
Corinthians 4:8-9).
While we congratulate our staff for its faithful and
dedicated service we also extend our deepest gratitude
to all parents, friends and supporters who have chosen
to commit themselves to this institution, through thick
and thin.
My prayer is that we will all witness the fulfillment of
God’s precious promises to CCACC even as we
experience His intervention, grace and prosperity in our
own personal lives.
God’s richest blessings,
Donald K. Stewart (D.Min., D.M.E.)
Board Member
Pastor, Portmore Lane Covenant Community Church
We say goodbye to the chairman, Mr Anthony Simms,
who recently retired from the board. Due to the
increased demand of his job he was unable to extend
his term of office but he promises to continue giving his
support and advise where possible. Mr Simms gave
sterling service and great support and leadership to the
administration and to the school in general. We greatly
appreciate him and will miss him. We pray for God’s
bountiful blessings on him, his family and his company.
Also retiring from the Board is Mrs Leonie Simms (no
relation to the past chair) Her work load as a lecturer
plus other personal challenges required her to demit
office but she has made herself available for training
and any advise we may need.
We welcome to office Major Neil Lewis, the new
chairman of the Board; Mrs Tracey-Ann Lynch (Vice
Principal, Inswood High School) and Mrs Rusheyne
Ferguson (Lecturer, Shortwood Teachers College) as
new directors.

DANIEL THOMAS has
excelled in all areas of his
life. From the days of
representing Jamaica at
Scripps Howard Spelling
Bee to top science student
in the Caribbean in CXC in
2004, Thomas was taught
to never give up and to go
above and beyond to
achieve excellence. Now a
medical doctor, he is also a
research fellow at the
UWI/FODECO Unit,
working on research into acute stroke care and
rehabilitation and psychopenia, which is fragility in the
elderly. “My participation in the Spelling Bee competition
helped me to develop a keen sense of dedication and
diligence to reach my goals. It helped me to focus on my
studies and taught me how to devote time to a particular
task and achieve absolutely any goal desired,” Thomas said.
The young doctor has also evolved into an aspiring
entrepreneur, becoming a proud franchise owner of Unicity.
Unicity is a health-care company based in the United States,
which develops and produces scientifically backed and
clinically proven health-care products. The three main
products which Thomas now distributes locally are the Bios
Life Matcha, Bios Life Slim, and Slim G. The products have a
20-year track record and aim to make life better and, of
course, healthier for its clients. The youthful and radiant
doctor hopes to gain physical wellness for himself and those
around him, as these products assist significantly in
achieving the goal of a healthier lifestyle.

CREATING a virtual environment where buyers anywhere
across the globe can browse and make cashless purchases of
goods and services from businesses based in Jamaica is a
dream three budding software engineers are determined to
fulfill. They are Jonathan Cooper, 20, Kevin Leyow, 22, and
Jason Scott, 20, operators of Blaze Payment Limited. The
trio, who are a part of the business incubator JGX Labs,
launched recently by American tech expert JJ Geewax, have
created a mobile application software called Blaze which
they intend on making the first widely accepted local mobile
application software that allows Jamaicans the ease of
ordering and paying for their goods and services with the
use of their smart phone or tablet devices.

geared to unearth our students’ talents and expose
them to other skill areas. The students are ecstatic and
look forward to Fridays when they get the chance to be
engaged in the clubs of their choice. We have seen an
overwhelming registration for the Tech and the Creative
Arts clubs. Every child is expected to be enrolled in at
least two of the following: Environmental, Science,
Modern Languages, Bible, Book, Tech, Creative Arts and
