Our semen directory has been a project we have been contemplating for some time,
giving it the serious thought, research, backing and dedication it deserves. We made the
decision to hold its release until we could offer our fellow breeder what could arguably be
the greatest sire bank in Australia; what you see before you is the end result.
As a consolidation of an offering of elitist genetics, we would also like to introduce you to
the Double Bar D Herd from Canada. The Double Bar D herd is one the most noted herds
in Canada and the quality and type of animal they are producing will blend extremely well
with our Australian herd. Billa Park is pleased to announce they will be the sole marketers of
the Double Bar D genetics in Australia and is both delighted and honoured to be
associated with the Dimler Family and Brian Valentine.
“BULLS ON ICE” is the first of what we hope to make an annual release. Simmental breeders
in Australia have never before had access to this number of quality bulls in one publication.

Double Bar D Farms, of Grenfell, Saskatchewan,
Canada, is proud to have the opportunity to
share our pursuit of excellence in Simmental
genetics.
Established in 2011, Casa Toro is the black and
red division of the Billa Park herd. Owned by
Scott and Claire York, this small but quality
herd is bound to make a huge impact in a few
years time.
Owned by Richard Dimler and sons Ken and Mark, our farm encompasses over 25,000 acres
of crops focused on canola, wheat, barley, corn, and soybeans in addition to our registered
cattle division.
Working with the motto “quality before quantity” has seen the purchase of top priced
females and the use of world leading sires throughout the Casa Toro herd. With their first
fully imported ET calves born in September 2012, the growth and genetic strength of the
Casa Toro herd is sure to leave a lasting impression on the Simmental breed of the future
and the commercial herds of today.

Simmental cattle have been a passion of Double Bar D since 1972 and have grown to
today’s herd of nearly 1000 females including full-blood Fleckvieh, Black Simmental and
Red Simmental. Each February we host our annual bull and female sale on-farm, selling 150
bulls and a select offering of females.

Alberta, Canada.
Double Bar D Thunder 273X is the balanced bull. He is moderate
framed, muscle expressive, sound, eye appealing, and genetically
accumulates an incredible pedigree. Thunder was the 2012 lot one
bull, and earned every dollar in the bidding frenzy. His first calves are
exceeding all of our expectations, with their muscle and balanced
problem free type. Stomping the ground precisely with big, correct
feet and legs, Thunder wasn’t the biggest bull of 2012 at Double Bar D,
but undeniably the most impressive.
Our search for that out-cross blonde bull led us straight to
Midas. His calves are very moderate at birth but their style
and presence is noticeable immediately, and we have been
pleasantly surprised at the growth and hair type of these
calves. You can definitely tell which calves have had the
“Midas Touch”.

“Cow maker” Everest is an outcross poll bull that
we have been following for a while now.
Unique pedigree...Nickelback has quite a history.
He was bred by a small breeder in the hills of Kentucky, USA,
reared in Texas and then moved 2500 miles to Northern
Alberta. Double Bar D had the opportunity to add him to
their herd sire battery and quickly did so. Massive body,
thick butted, ultra sound feet, huge scrotal and a pedigree
that incorporates iconic sires such as Hackenberg, Hafke,
and Siegfried with foundation cow families best defines
Nickelback.
