DON’T FORGET!!!
April Club Meeting is:
April16th @ 2PM
1525 N. Woodrow
Hosted by Robb Nutt
We still need to get more pictures of the tags that we have
on our "Pride and Joy". Only a few have sent in
pictures. And if any one would like to write an article
about their car or maybe an adventure that you have been
on in your car, please share. Who knows we could have a
section in the newsletter of
"My Great Adventure in my Pontiac".
I am sure there have been a few.
We all need to keep working on sponsors and getting
items for the Uprising. The club members are what makes
this club a great club and our Uprising is an extension of
our club.
Sure hope to see a lot of you guys and gals at Norwich on
the 30th. Should be a fun day. And super close for us to
attend.
Need to keep September 17 and 18 on our schedules,
Pontiac, IL is a great town and an awesome event. Just
ask Adam Womack!
MARCH MINUTES
Our March 19,2016 meeting/tech session was held at Blagg Body Shop.
Eleven members were present for the presentation by Derrick Blagg. He
gave us a very informative session on what his family body shop does,
"body work" and has for 3 generations. (Now I know why we have someone else do our body work). Thank You Derrick for all your information. If
you have question on your car projects, give him a call, he will be happy
to give you advise.
Mike C gave update on Uprising—Sponsors are key and have gotten
some new ones. Thanks members for your work on this.
Les to get second speaker of Friday nite Tech Session.
Race Payout will be same as last year.
Need to get caterer lined up for Tech Session.
Need Gate help.
Need items for raffle/door prizes Friday nite and items for the Silent
Auction.
Show Car awards will be as usual.
Other business discussed as having breakfasts quarterly between
October and April. Local area car shows coming up Norwich April 30,
Mulvane June 18. These are listed on the website.
Next meeting host is Rob Nutt for April 16. May Meeting will be hosted by
Deanna Schottler. June meeting will be hosted by Russ Stuhr. Mike
Cooper will host the October meeting. All members are welcome to host a
meeting.
The Art of Restoration
Gr8-8-8-r Wichita Pontiac Club Tech Session in March was held at the Blagg
Body Shop in Derby. It was great that they took time out of their busy schedule
to share some basic auto-body repair. Derrick Blagg showed us a restoration
project (on a pick-up) that required some cab corners, front door boards and
various structural repairs. He wanted us to know the procedure that they go
through on various components in the restoration process.
The second part of the session dealt with painting, sanding, polishing and
buffing a fender on a current project that they are doing. It was a real "eyeopening"
experience and very informative. " I had forgotten all the steps to a successful
"show finish" procedure", said Mike Cooper.
Another item that really stood out was the cost of all the required supplies. "It's
been a long time since I tackled a job like that", said Dan Jones. Dan refers the
heavy wrenching stuff and farms out the body/paint work. It's understandable,
a paint job and related finished procedures cost so much. Times have changed
in the body shop business!
Derrick was very thorough in his presentation and explanation during the
demonstration. We want to thank Derrick and Leon Blagg (his father) for their
time and effort showing us a very interesting afternoon.

OUR FIRST CAR SHOW OF THE SEASON!!
Our first car show was
in Oxford, Kansas. We
won a trophy for top
ten at the show, which
had over 80 cars! It
was a nice surprise as
we didn’t expect to
win anything, and we
did get a ton of
compliments on it!!!
Everyone seemed to
love the car! (I know I
do!) We will be
showing it again this
weekend, April 9th at
the Belle Plain car
show! Hope to
see you there!!
