Monarch ROF700 Installation Manual – Effective June 2014
Main Connection Points
PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS GUIDE BEFORE COMMENCEMENT OF INSTALLATION. THIS UNIT HAS BEEN WET TESTED PRIOR TO
DESPATCH AND SEALED. SEALS TO BE REMOVED AS PER DISCONNECTION OF A NORMAL SPEEDFIT CONNECTION.
No 4 (DRAIN) – Waste water to go to drain clamp connection via black ¼” tubing – supplied
No 3 (PERMEATE) – Pure water supply to appliance via grey 3/8” tubing – supplied
No 1(INLET) – Inlet mains water supply via grey 3/8” tubing – supplied
It is recommended to have a soft water supply whenever possible to ensure maximum membrane life and performance.
Optional Connections:
Speedfit elbows are supplied to convert to connections as per the photograph. Simply remove same if straight connections
required.
On every speedfit connection used, chamfer edge of tubing to ensure internal ‘o’ ring in speedfit is not damaged.
Mains Water Connection – isolating valve
Procedure:
1 – Remove the 2 screws holding the bracket together.
2 – Turn the black knob till it's fully opened, you should be able to see a pointed pin retract.
3 – Put the flat piece of the bracket behind the pipe where you want to locate this tap.
4 – Bring the top half of the bracket over the piece that is behind the pipe now.
5 – Replace the screws and tighten.
6 – Now turn the black knob fully down (to close) and this should pierce the pipe.
7 – Fix speedfit adaptor to female thread and tighten to seal.
8 – Chamfer edge of 3/8” grey tubing and push into speedfit connection until tubing stops – approx. 1.5cm
9 – When you next open the valve (the black handle) water will be available to the unit.
Note: the isolating valve has an approved check valve for compliance with local water regulations.
Drain/Waste Water Connection
Prior to installing the drain connector, please inspect drain pipes for damage, frailty, or wear.
Drain saddle valves are designed to be installed on standard 1.25 and 1.5” OD drain pipe.
Install drain saddle valve above (and before) the trap and on the vertical or horizontal tailpiece.
Never install a drain saddle valve close to the outlet of a waste disposal or plugging of the RO drain line will occur.
Procedure:
1. Position the threaded half of the drain saddle valve at the selected location and mark for the opening.
Tip: Mark outline around top and bottom of drain saddle before removing for drilling as this helps reposition at No3 below.
2. Drill 1/4” hole at the mark through this side of the pipe only.
3. Position both halves of the drain saddle on the drain pipe so threaded opening lines with the hole.
4. Secure the drain saddle firmly using the nuts and bolts provided.
5. Slide compression nut over ¼” black tubing.
6. Push in insert then tighten nut on drain saddle thread to seal.
Pure Water Connection on appliance
Storage Tank required?
Accompanying the unit will be a selection of speedfit connections suitable for ½” and ¾” male threads for POU. All of them
terminate at 3/8” speedfit to suit the grey flexible tubing with the unit.
Simply ‘mix and match’ these fittings to get the desired connection you require.
Additionally there will be enclosed speedfit connectors for the main Connection Point.
There is also supplied a white 3/8” x 3/8” speed fit isolating valve that can be used to isolate the storage tank/appliance
during general maintenance.
On every speedfit connection used, chamfer edge of tubing to ensure internal ‘o’ ring in speedfit is not damaged.
If stored water is required then Monarch offers a range of storage tanks for use with the ROF700. All units are designed for
drinking water use so can be used on any mains water application. All tanks come complete with connection to 3/8” speedfit.
Simply cut in the 3/8” speedfit tee (supplied) at the position marked on the FLOW DIAGRAM FOR ROF700 between the
PERMEATE Connection Point and the appliance and run 3/8” grey tubing from this tee to the storage tank.
Storage Tanks:
24, 55 and 80 litre storage tanks are currently available. Additional sizes available on request.
Please only allow 60% of the tanks rated capacity for actual water available.
Cartridges and Membranes layout
(1). Sediment Cartridge
(2). Carbon Cartridge
(3). Membranes (one situated in rear of unit)
(4). Carbon Cartridge
Membrane replacement
The ROF700 has 3no membranes. They are all inserted during unit manufacture prior to use and tested for leaks.
Two are situated in the front section of the unit and one in the rear section.
Remove the front section cover by gently squeezing side walls of front cover whilst pulling cover off. The rear section can
then be removed by undoing the 4no recessed and 1no surface mounted brass screw (behind left hand membrane) in the
dark grey plastic main body.
Remove the membrane from its holding clip and release the compression connection in the cap and remove cap as pictured
left. Remove membrane from its sealed bag and insert as per same picture.
IMPORTANT:
Ensure double ‘o’ ring seals on inserted end of membrane locate securely in female insert in base of membrane housing.
Repeat the above until all membranes are inserted.
Refit membrane cap, then reseal compression compressions.
Refit all membrane housings in position.
Commissioning Unit.
Pre-commissioning check:
1. All tubing was chamfered on speedfit connections.
2. Grey 3/8” tubing connected between Mains Water Connection valve and No 1 on Connection Point.
3. Black ¼” tubing connected between Drain Clamp and No 4 on Connection Point.
4. a. Appliance with no storage tank: Grey 3/8” tubing connected to No 3 on Connection Point.
b. Appliance with storage tank: Grey 3/8” tubing connected to appliance through the tee, with tubing teed off to tank, but do not connect to tank at this stage.

C.
D.
Run 3/8” grey tubing from No 3 on Connection Point to adjacent sink and fix with cable tie (provided) to avoid water spill.
Plug in 13amp plug with power TURNED OFF.
Turn on water supply and check for leaks. This may only allow the water to get to the inlet of the membranes until the power is turned on.
Turn on power and pump will start. Water will shortly begin to flow from the 3/8” grey tube over the sink. Allow this to run for 30 minutes to flush out all brine from
membranes. Failure to do this will give salty water to service!
E. After 30 minutes, turn off power. Connect 3/8” grey tube (currently over sink) to appliance.
F. Turn power back on and wait until pump turns off. The pump turning off will be governed by either when the storage tank or the appliance is full and can take between 12
and 40 minutes depending on the storage tank capacity.
G. Check for leaks.

IMPORTANT:
This unit must be installed in accordance with these instructions by a fully qualified engineer on a mains water potable supply only.
Warranty:
The ROF700 is fully covered by a 12 month parts and labour guarantee for installation within the regions of mainland England as detailed on Monarchs National Service Coverage Area, from date of
original purchase. Installations outside this area are automatically covered by a 12 month parts only ‘exchange’ warranty.
PLEASE NOTE - This guarantee has the following conditions, and is not covered by the following.
1. Damage caused by high water pressure, we strongly recommend a 5bar water pressure limiting valve on the inlet to your water supply, where daytime water pressure exceeds a static pressure of
3.5 bar (50psi).
2. This unit is suitable for a mains water supply only.
3. Damage caused by a dirty mains water supply. The installation of an H1038DF (Debris Filter) on the supply to the unit will protect against premature failure of both the membranes and the inline
filters. The majority of debris in water is caused by local authority work on the water main. If notified in advance, by your local water authority, please turn off the water and electrical supply to the
unit.
4. Callouts due to incorrect installation. If you have any queries when installing your ROF700, please call us on 01986 784759.
5. The use of any other tubing than those provided.
6. The effect of a heavily chlorinated supply.
7. Hard water.
8. Under no circumstances plumb in the unit using copper pipe.
9. The installation kit is only covered by the OEM twelve-month parts ‘exchange’ warranty only.
10. Compensation as a result of cancelled appointments, damage caused by, or incorrect installation of the unit. In the unlikely event of a fault, isolate the unit from both power and water.
SERVICE CARE The manufacturer of your unit includes 50+ years of manufacturing experience, to give you a water purifier that is arguably the most reliable on the market today. One of the aspects
incorporated into the manufacture of your ROF700 is ‘Prevention is better than cure’. To these ends, Monarch strongly recommends that the cartridges are changed no less frequently than every 6
months by a qualified engineer. Monarch is happy to arrange this service for you through their dedicated service engineers. We will of course inform you when this small service is due and arrange a
convenient time for our engineer to call. Therefore please ensure that your guarantee card is returned once installation is complete.
