In the News Spring 2013 “Empowering Students to Grow Academically, Socially and Behaviorally” Facilities Update: Completed Facility Work: · Replacement boilers: Abraham Lincoln, Burkhart, Clinton Young, Douglas MacArthur, Glenns Valley, Homecroft, Southport Elementary and Southport Middle School · New classroom unit ventilators/coil heaters · Roof repair/replacement: Mary Bryan Elementary & Perry Meridian High School · Skylight replacement, interior lighting and entrance/vestibule construction: Mary Bryan Elementary School · ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant playgrounds · Fencing · Secured entries · Pool renovations: Perry Meridian High School · Clinton Young Elementary addition Current Facility Work: · Additional science labs and classrooms renovation: Perry Meridian High School · Renovation and update to the school’s auditorium sound and lighting systems, 19 additional classrooms, renovation to the music wing, renovation of the pool, installation of an elevator, new tennis courts, carpet replacement throughout the school and upgraded lighting with energy efficient fixtures: Southport High School 53rd Perry Township Art Show The 53rd Perry Township Art Show was held at Perry Meridian High School to celebrate the outstanding ability of the talented artists in the district. Artwork from all grade levels and schools was displayed— drawings, paintings, weavings, 3-D art, sculptures, jewelry and more. Summer Swim Information It is time for the Perry Township Summer Swim Program. “Learn to Swim” Red Cross classes for students from age 3 on up will be held at Perry Meridian High School this year. Two 2-week sessions are offered this summer. This is a great opportunity for children to get comfortable with water and learn swim strokes. For more information, please email the director, Lori Beaupre at [email protected]. “Summer Servings” will be serving breakfast and lunch at no cost for children (18 and under) at the Baxter YMCA (June 3-July 26) and at Capital Place Apt., Stone Lake Lodge Apts., Strawbridge Green Apts., Sawmill Apts., Bradford Lakes Apts., Regency Park Apts. Martinique Terrace Apts., Thompson Village Apts., Murphy’s’ Landing Apts., Berkley Commons Apts., Greentree Apts., Southgreen Apts., Madison Park Village Apts. and Winchester Village Elementary School (June 5-July 24). Superintendent's Award of Excellence: Mr. Marc Westfall and Officer David Stalcup were awarded the Superintendent's Award of Excellence for their outstanding contributions to the family, friends and community of Southport High School graduate, Sgt. July 30, 2013 The $900,000 donation from Ray Skillman enables the district to install turf on the Perry Stadium field which both high schools utilize weekly. Installation of synthetic turf at Perry Stadium began April 1st and will be complete for the fall 2013 football season!
