Perry’s Restaurant 1210 Annapolis Road Odenton, MD 21113 Phone: 410-674-4000 www.perrysrestaurant.com June marks the summer rite of passage with June 21 officially kicking off the first day of summer. Two events, Flag Day celebrated on the 14th day of the month, followed by recognition of Father’s Day on the 20th, are also well known annual remembrances. For those ladies who are still scratching their heads as to what would make a perfect Father’s Day gift, your editor (always willing to help in anyway) has a few suggestions. If your man is too hairy for your taste, then these suggested gift ideas might be right up your alley! Manscaping tools for Dad that consists of Mangroomer® personal shavers and trimmers for every part of every man. Specialty products include an Essential Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer, Professional Rechargeable Back Hair Shaver and a Private Body Shaver. The name of the merchant has been left out so as to not patronize any particular store but check with your editor and she’ll be more than happy to provide you with that info. What a more fitting way to commemorate all you Dad’s than to humor you with some amusing comments from children. “When ships had sails, they used to use the trade winds to cross the ocean. Sometimes when the wind didn’t blow, the sailors would whistle to make the wind come. My brother said they would have been better off eating beans (William, age 7). When you go swimming in the ocean, it is very cold and it makes my willy small (Kevin age 6). On vacation my Mom went water skiing. She fell off when she was going very fast. She says she won’t do it again because water fired right up her big fat ass (Julie, age 7). My dad was a sailor on the ocean. He knows all about the ocean. What he doesn’t know is why he quit being a sailor and married my mom (James, age 7). As my five year old son and I were headed to McDonald’s one day, we passed a car accident. Usually when we see something terrible like that, we say a prayer for those who might be hurt, so I pointed and said to my son, “We should pray.” From the back seat I heard his earnest request: ‘Please, God, don’t let those cars block the entrance to McDonald’s’.” Who Would Have Thunk??? The very individual who offered last month’s suggestion for the LONG Locks photo contest, Gary Fitzgerald, a.k.a., STICKS, had the WINNING photo. Obviously Disco Fever was very much alive and thriving during the era of Sticks’ photo and here say has it that he still has some disco fever tendencies. Watch those arm movements, Sticks! Thanks to Stan Sarro, Phyllis Crutchfield, and Peggy Morgan for also digging through their photo memorabilia and submitting their favorite long locks photos (your editor also couldn’t help but join in the fun!). We’re never too old to “let our hair down” and have some fun so if you have a suggestion for a future issue, please drop me a line and, ALWAYS, please add the words “Mickie’s Mail Box” in the subject line of your email. Email address: [email protected] Perry’s regulars, Lee and Neil Carter, are the lucky, and well deserving, recipients of a $50 Perry’s Gift Card drawn at Perry’s on June 3rd. Thanks to Lee and Neil’s diligence in furnishing 3 Perry’s dining/beverage receipts during the month of May, they can now reap the rewards of their continued patronage at Perry’s on Thursday evenings. This very generous incentive, courtesy of Perry’s General Manager, Kristos Miliotis, is just one more added perk to a fun night at the establishment many have compared to “Cheers.” Please continue to hand in your weekly receipts (with your name on each one) to Mickie. Feeling Lucky? Well, even if you don’t, it would be great if you could help in replenishing the funds in our “In Step at Perry’s” Cake and Miscellaneous Fund by purchasing some raffle tickets. Tickets will be sold at Perry’s every Thursday evening with the winning ticket being drawn on Thursday evening, June 24th. The winner will be the happy owner of a summer basket full of goodies. JUNE Birthdays ~~ Celebrating life should be a daily occurrence. Celebrating our regulars’ birthdays is a happy ritual that has become a monthly tradition at Perry’s. On Thursday evening, June 17th, we look forward to celebrating Bill Jarvie’s, Bill Kolodin’s, and Karen Beal’s (our vivacious server!) birthdays. Please stop by, wish our folks a happy BDay, and enjoy a piece of cake in honor of their special day. Flag Day “I swing before your eyes as a bright gleam of color, a symbol of yourself, the pictured suggestion of that big thing which makes this nation. My stars and my stripes are your dream and your labors. They are bright with cheer, brilliant with courage, firm with faith, because you have made them so out of your heart. For you are the makers of the flag and it is well that you glory in the making.” ~Franklin Knight Lane “Music is the language of the soul; dance is the language of the body. Body and soul, music and dance, conceive an instrument of expression through which the spirit communicates.” ~~ Maestro Hector Zaraspe Doo Wop Jack Mickie Moriarty Daytime Bartender, Chi Chi Could this actually be Doo Wop Jack dancing “free style” with Jme? WACKY PHOTOS Mickie moonlights as Lady Gaga! W Wonder if Stan paid Bartender, Jme, to wear the tee shirt with his mug on it? Stan is in a holding pattern as Phyllis attempts to pick up the quarter she spotted on the dance floor! Well, if Donna wasn’t aware of Bill’s foot fetish, she is now! P.S. That’s NOT Donna’s foot!
