Early College
Dual Credit
Services
Perry Central Junior-Senior High School is in
the process of becoming an “Early College
High School” where students can complete
part of a post-secondary degree or certification while in high school. The Early College
High School model is endorsed by the Indiana
Commission for Higher Education.
We currently offer
a total of 37
classes for dual
credit through Ivy
Tech, University of
Southern Indiana
or Oakland City
University.
We are hosting a
“College Connection
Coach” from Ivy
Tech Community
College two days a
week, who is working
with students to help
them transition from
high school to college.
Upcoming Sessions for 8th &
10th graders and parents
All eighth graders and their parents
are asked to come Monday, February
9th for High School Orientation.
Counselors will discuss four year
plans and give info about diplomas.
On Thursday, February 19 there will
be a planning session for parents and
current sophomores to discuss students’ plans for the future and what
they will need to stay focused.
Both sessions will include a small
meal to begin at 5:30 with the
meetings starting at 6:00 in the elementary cafeteria.
SNOWFLAKE
Perry Central is once again hosting SNOWFLAKE for hundreds of 7-8th grade students from Perry Central, Cannelton and
Tell City on Friday, February 27 from 3:008:30pm. This annual program combines
an afternoon of prevention sessions and
activities followed by pizza and a dance.
This year with the help of the Perry County
Communities Mobilizing for Change on
Alcohol and dozens of community volunteers, teen life scenarios and their consequences will be presented to help students
understand “what would happen if……..”
The SNOWFLAKE program funded by the
Perry County Substance Abuse Committee
and P.C. STAND is FREE to students but
parent permission slips are required and
students must attend the scenarios to be
able to attend the dance and supper.

Kindergarten
Roundup
Registration for next year’s preschoolers will be held on April
10th. New kindergarteners can
be registered on April 17th. Registration forms will be sent out
with elementary students this

HEROES Grant News
High School students are encouraged to sign up now for
the Biggest Loser Contest
being held until March 6.
Students can weigh in at the
nurses office.
HEROES is offering free
weekly Adult Continuing Education classes in Zumba, Pilates, Yoga and Volleyball .

3 Way Volleyball Tournament
The Perry Central Football Families are having a 3 Way Volleyball Tournament on Sunday,
February 8 at the Perry Central High School gym. 3 Way Volleyball consists of two large inflated balls and three nets. The teams will be co-ed with five boys and five girls on a
team. The age brackets are grades 5, 6, 7,8 ; grades 9, 10,11, 12; High school graduate – age
29; age 30 and up. Medals for winners in each age bracket and overall winner trophies will
be given. The cost is $5 per player or $50 per team. Registration forms are in both offices or
on the P.C. website www.pccs.k12.in.us. Registration forms may turned into the offices on
the day of the tournament from 11:00-12:00. Concessions will be
available with chili, hot dogs, drinks, popcorn and homemade
goodies. Come out and support our Perry Central Football Team!

SCHOOL
Captains Club P.C Apparel Sale
The Captains Club Apparel Sale will
begin on Saturday January 31 at the
home basketball game. Items to be
sold include beanies, camo ballcaps,
dri-fit zip up jackets and shirts. Samples will be available at the game near
the Captains Club cotton candy booth.
Order forms will be sent out to students soon. For more info see a club
member or call Sarah Kelly at 843-5122.
Book Fair Volunteers Needed
We will have a book fair in the elementary library the week before spring
break. We will need parent volunteers

Did you know students attending Lights
-On have the opportunity to work on
homework or class assignments each
evening from 3:30-4:00? If more time
is needed, students may then go to the
library to study or complete what did
not get finished. The Lights-On staff
tries to work closely with classroom
teachers to help students succeed and
with parents to try and lighten the
homework time at home. If you have
questions or comments about the
homework or tutoring that is available,
please contact Dixie Dickerson.
Robotics Night
Saturday, January 31st is robotics night
at the varsity basketball game. Students
from our robotics teams will be announced and recognized before the
varsity game . There will be booths for
students to show some of our technology and talk about their competitions.
There will also be some chances to
drive some robots! The junior high
FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team has
qualified for state. There will be a
dance after the game for students in 58th grades and a half pot drawing at
the game to raise funds to cover the
team's registration and travel costs.

PCHS Students will be showcasing their talents during “Coffee
and Conversations on Thursday,
February 19th at 6:30 in the Elementary Commons.
Everyone is invited to come and
enjoy a night of singing, poetry,
guitar playing, comedy and
more . The program is free and
refreshments will be provided.
