MANAGER’S MESSAGE
HOLA AMIGOS!!!
Greetings from Los Cabos!
Although it seems it was only
yesterday, already I’ve started the 5th
year of my administration at Club
Cascadas. Just before sitting down to write this letter,
some guests approached me to thank me for all the work
that has been done in the last four years, but just wait till
you see what plans we have in store for this year — you
will be surprised!
Little by little, we continue updating all the areas and
units. We installed a new palapa roof on the Tortuga
pool restroom. In December, we built six new beach
palapas, making a total of nine additional palapas, and
we plan to build 6 more this year! We also changed the
area telephones with new ones, and we are finishing up
installation of new mirrors in the bathrooms.
Also, we got two brand-new 60-inch televisions in the
Clubhouse, and general exterior painting was done
on buildings 7, 8, 12, 1, 19 and 13. We changed out
the sofas for beds in Perlas 2, 4, 9, 14, and 15, and we
replaced 15 king-size beds in the various Perlita units.
Legacy Committee Member Spotlight
Legacy Committee member, Larry Greenberg, and his
artist wife, Claire, spend plenty of time at Cascadas, enjoying
their six weeks of “vacation” from globetrotting to other exotic destinations around
the world. They truly love their resort and
are keenly interested in keeping it beautiful.
A retired aerospace executive and physicist,
Larry brings his analytical mind and
management skills to the benefit of the Club
through his service on the Legacy Committee.
Thank you, Larry, for your dedication and
loyalty to Club Cascadas.
Additionally, we dressed up several more
villas with new comforters, linens and
towels. Finally, in addition to having
worked on the villas, we’ve been
conducting training of our service
personnel to make them more efficient
and professional than ever before.
I’m very pleased to report that the desal plant has lived
up to its promise to be reliable and efficient. The plant
has been working beautifully. It operates during the day
and is “off duty” at night when our members and guests
are sleeping. The water is tested on a regular basis and
always meets or exceeds the minimum requirements for
purity. The cisterns are full every day. We are so very
fortunate to have our own desal plant, as city water is
scarce – and expensive!
Always remember that we, the Club Cascadas team,
are all on your side. We are here to serve you and make
sure you have an excellent vacation! We look forward to
seeing you here soon!
Saludos cordiales,
Daniel Holzkan
Comment Cards Really Are
Important!
Anyone in the service industry knows
the importance of customer feedback. Club
Cascadas is no exception, which is why we
strongly encourage all of our members to take a
few moments to complete a comment card. It’s
easier than ever to do now – all you have to do is
go to www.clubcascadasdebaja.com and click on
the red “How Are We Doing” button. This will
take you directly to the online form.
A few moments of your time helps us make
improvements where necessary, making your
resort the best it can be!

Spotlight
Mario Ceseña Agundez
Meet Mario Ceseña Agundez,
one of the rare natives of Cabo
San Lucas! Mario started working
at Club Cascadas back in 1992
as a warehouse attendant and he
continues working in the same
position today – 20 years later!
Mario’s entire family is from Cabo.
He has two children of his own and
says he is “very happy to have had
the opportunity to work here at
Cascadas.”
A Message from Pat
Giddings
Dear members,
What a momentous year 2012 has been! There has been so much
accomplished at our Club that we all can be proud of. First of all, we
completed the commemorative 25th anniversary book, “Cascadas de Baja the Dream Continues” and we hope it made your year a little brighter and
captured the spirit of our special resort. What fun our family had putting
the book together and getting to hear from you, our members, of all your
wonderful heartfelt stories. Publishing the book was a truly rewarding
experience and we thank you for participating.
Big strides were made during our maintenance weeks. My sons, Mark and
David, were there to help oversee all the new exciting additions to the Club
such as: the addition of bathrooms to the Perlas, new palapas (on some of
the units), new Jacuzzi, doors, cantera tile, and other cosmetic upgrades in
Margarita 12, painting of the entire front of the building, and so much
more. It was quite impressive to see all the workers working feverishly for
the reopening after maintenance weeks. I want to extend a special “Thank
you” to all the staff who worked so hard to accomplish all the work that was
done. Assistant Manager Reyna Gerhardus and General Manager Daniel
Holzkan, as well as Israel de la Torre, really stepped it up this year and
I want to personally commend them on the great job they did, and keep
doing, to make sure the Club moves in a positive direction.
I recently returned from Cascadas and was so thrilled to see the grounds
looking impeccable; the staff was in great spirits, and the restaurant was as
good as it has ever been! I personally felt very uplifted to see a genuine spirit
of happiness at Cascadas – the members are so excited and enthusiastic!
Enjoy a romantic
dinner for two!
Could It GET Any
More Romantic??
You all know how wonderful it is to dine under
the stars to the rhythm of baby waves lapping on
the shore at the Cascadas Beach Grill. Well, this
already-wonderful experience has just been taken
up a notch with the addition of the oh-so-romantic,
private new beach cabanas.
Just imagine you and your loved one(s) enjoying
an unforgettable evening of exquisite dining in
this dreamy, almost fantasy-like setting. It’s an
especially great way to celebrate those special
occasions. To book your evening of private dining,
see one of the restaurant captains at least one
day in advance of your planned date. The four
delectable menu choices range in price from only
$48 - $64 per person, plus tax.
As we move forward, we have a lot of work to do to keep improving
the Club, the grounds, the units, and the service to the members. The
commitment of everyone involved, including the board of directors, the
Legacy Committee, Trading Places, the Giddings family and the members
ultimately make the Club what it is. Nothing is perfect but we are
continually striving to make Club Cascadas de Baja the best it can be to
share with our family and friends, and to enjoy together as our vacation
home-away-from-home!
Sincerely,
Patricia Giddings, President
Club Cascadas de Baja board of directors
“I lost a pendant and [Israel] went out of his way to announce it at the Friday orientation, and his staff
scoured our unit to find it. It was found later on. He is the one to go to with a problem, as he will have
it taken care of immediately. His personal concern was so genuine.” Shelley Mills, Cameron Park, CA.
Farewell
“THE Dream
CONTINUES”
We hope you have
all enjoyed your copy
of “Club Cascadas
de Baja – the Dream
Continues” as much as the Giddings
family enjoyed putting it together for you.
The Giddings family was amazed at the
overwhelming response from so many of
you who contributed photos and touching
stories, and although the book took a
while to produce, they took great pleasure
in poring over the many photos of happy
faces caught in the action of making
memories of a lifetime. Spearheaded by
David Giddings, it was a labor of love.

“When I first decided to create the
book to commemorate the Club’s 25th
anniversary, I was so excited, and I knew it
would be a special treat for so many of our
members,” said Mrs. Giddings. “It gave
me great pleasure to be able to do this as a
gift straight from my heart to your coffee
table.”
“From every image, edit, word, scan,
letter, setup, copy, and design my thought
and finger touched it all and it was great
journey,” said David.

Javier Lizarraga
After 18 years of service,
Front Desk Supervisor
Javier Lizarraga is saying
farewell to Club Cascadas
to begin his new life in
retirement. Although
Javier started working
at the Club in 1995, he
moved from his native
Panuco, Sinaloa to Cabo
San Lucas all the way back
in 1969. He worked in
hotel construction and
found an affinity for it at
that time. Javier met his
wife, Lili, in Cabo and
eventually they had four
children together.
“Coming to work at
Club Cascadas was the
best decision I could
have made with regard
to employment. I take
with me lovely memories
of my workmates, and I
am very grateful to our
management and the
Giddings family,” Javier
says. “I congratulate all
my member-friends of this
Club for having chosen
this beautiful place in
which to vacation. All I
can say is ‘Hasta luego’
and I will miss all of you.”
“Carlos works in Clubouse Too and
does an excellent job. He is very
friendly. Carlos does an excellent
job as DJ for the karaoke night and
open mic night. It is very nice that
the staff is able to be so personable
to us owners. He treats us like
friends and makes us feel special.”
