PROGRAM GUIDE
Behavior (Conducta)
Fri May 1 - 5:00 PM / Sun May 3 - 11:00 AM
Chala is eleven years old, lives with his drug-addicted
mother, and trains fighting dogs for a living. This world of
violence sometimes surfaces when he is at school. His new
teacher, unable to understand Chala’s behavior, sends
him off for reeducation.
Betibú
Fri May 1 - 2:00 PM / Sun May 3 - 5:00 PM
When an Argentine industrialist is found dead at his home,
the well-known novelist Nurit Iscar covers the story for a
national paper. Teaming up with a veteran crime reporter
and the new section head, the trio soon realizes this is no
random crime.
Dust on the Tongue (Tierra en la lengua)
Fri May 1 - 11:00 AM / Sat May 2 - 9:30 PM
Despite family patriarch Don Silvio’s abusive behavior
toward friends and family, his magnetism has allowed him
to remain the center of attention his entire life. When his
death is imminent, he makes an unusual request—he asks
two of his grandchildren to help him die.
Flowers (Loreak)
Thurs April 30 - 2:00 PM / Sat May 2 - 5:00 PM
Beñat expresses his secret love for the unhappily married
Ane by sending her anonymous, immaculately composed
flower bouquets once a week. When Beñat is unexpectedly killed in a car accident, the flowers stop and so does
the only brightness in Ane’s life.
Magical Girl
Wed April 29 - 7:30 PM / Sat May 2 - 2:00 PM
The father of an ill girl tries to fulfill his daughter’s last wish,
but his fate intersects with Barbara, an attractive yet
disturbed young woman, and Damian, a teacher retired
from everything but his troubled past.
Marshland (La isla mínima)
Thurs April 30 - 11:00 AM / Sat May 2 - 7:30 PM
In 1980 in the wetlands of Rio Guadalquivir in southern
Spain, two teenage girls have disappeared. When two
Madrid policemen arrive to investigate, the townspeople,
including the victims’ own parents, greet them with
suspicion and hostility.
Mr. Kaplan
Wed April 29 - 11:00 AM / Fri May 1 - 7:30 PM
Jacob Kaplan lives in Uruguay after fleeing Europe for
South America during World War II. Now 76, Mr. Kaplan
suspects that the owner of a beach bar, a quiet, elderly
German, may be a runaway Nazi.
Negotiator (Negociador)
Wed April 29 - 2:00 PM / Fri May 1 - 9:30 PM
Manu Aranguren is a Basque politician who acts as a
mediator for the Spanish government in negotiations with
ETA. Unexpected occurrences and misunderstandings
soon kick in, and the personal relationship between
negotiators will be key in solving the conflict.
One for the Road (En el último trago)
The Second Mother (Que horas ela volta?)
Thurs April 30 - 7:30 PM / Sat May 2 - 11:00 AM
Val is the kind of live-in housekeeper who takes her work
seriously. One day, her ambitious, clever daughter Jessica
arrives from Val’s hometown to take the college entrance
exams. Jessica’s confident, youthful presence upsets the
unspoken yet strict balance of power in the household.
Spanish Affair (Ocho apellidos vascos)
Wed April 29 - 5:00 PM / Sun May 3 - 7:30 PM
In a Seville nightclub, stand-up comic Rafa is smitten with
the fiery Amaia and impulsively follows her back to her
native Basque country. Amaia is none too pleased by
Rafa’s attentions, but he provides a cover for her
just-broken engagement.
