AmeriSeed THAILAND AmeriSeed PTE USA AMERISEED Inc US FLORASEED Inc VIETNAM FlorAsia Vietnam Ltd AmeriSeed Lisianthus Growing Information AmeriSeed Lisianthus Information Common name : Lisianthus, Texas Bluebell Scientific name : Eustoma grandiflorum Native : South of America, Mexico Propagation : Seed Life cycle : Herbaceous annuals plant Day Length : Long Day Plant Light requirement : Full Sun AmeriSeed Lisianthus : Plant Type Pot Plant Cut Flower AmeriSeed Lisianthus : Flower Type Single Flower Double Flower Fully Double Flower AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Sowing Seed 1. Sowing seeds on saturated media 2. Light is affect for germination, do not cover the seeds Break Rosetting Method 1. After sowing, keep tray in dark and moisture condition 2. Store in cooling chamber at 10-12 oC for 35 days or 5-6 oC for 14 days to break Rosetting (Precooling treatment ) AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Plug Stage 1. Germination stage 8-10 days 2. Control temperature between 20 -23 oC until first true leaves reach the holes edge. (1-1.5 month) 3. Move seedling to outside and provide a light fertilizer 100 ppmN from a wellbalanced calcium nitrate based fertilizer. 4. Seedling should have 4-6 true leaves then ready to transplant into the cut flower bed. AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Seedling Stage This Seedling stage is ready to transplant AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Planting 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Prepare bedding with rich Organic soil, Pest and Pathogen free. Lisianthus grow best with between pH 6.0-6.8. Use Dolomite to adjust pH which give Calcium and Magnesium. Cover bedding with silver plastic. This will help to keep lower temperature in soil. Transplant seedling when young before it becomes root-bond. First seedling will flower earlier with shorter stems especially under long day conditions. For summer, plant when seedlings have 4 true leaves and 6 true leaves for winter. Do not plant too deep to avoid stem rot. Avoid to damage roots during transplanting. Poor growth, Delayed maturity and Fail growing are caused by damage roots. Lisianthus requires sufficient water in first growing stage. Before planting, soil must be sufficiently wet. AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Bed Preparation 1. Cultivate bedding depth 45 cm. 2. Add dolomite 750 kg/acre, 15-15-15 125 kg/acre, compost 750 kg/acre and Rice Husk. 3. Plant spacing10x10cm. Do not plant on the central for more ventilation and sunlight. AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Spacing Suggestion : 4 rows per bed will be more better benefits management to horticulture operation. AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Irrigation At 2nd weeks after transplant, use top irrigation with sufficient water for a good plant establishment and do not let the soil dry to avoid Rosetting Reduce watering to avoid of Botrytis problem. Drip irrigation is the best way for irrigate Insufficient irrigation after transplanting will cause root problem and lead to Rosette problem AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Fertilization Lisianthus is not cultivated by fertilizer but by water. Lisianthus does not require high fertilizer levels. Maintain soil EC level around 1.0 -1.3 mmhos. Apply with liquid fertilizer 150 ppmN for 6 days and irrigation to reduce EC once a week. To prevent tip burning, foliar sprays of calcium by weekly starting at 20 cms. height Tip burning will caused by high sunlight, if plants insufficient calcium or too much nitrates. AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Light intensity Light intensity and day length can effected growth, crop time and flower quality High light intensity will provide quality plant with more bud and good flower Shading can effected Blind buds and insufficient of petals color Blind problem caused by shading AmeriSeed Growing Instruction : Day Length Day length: Lisianthus is Long day plant. Long day length condition: plant will be short growing period and flower bud will be accelerated. Plant will be early to flowering with shorter stem. Short day length condition: Plant will delay flowering, late to flowering and long stem Lisianthus Group: Group 1* : Early flowering type Group 2* : Middle flowering type Group 3** : Middle late flowering type Group 4** : Late flowering type *Group 1 & 2: Suitable verities for short day length, low light intensity and cool condition ( Early Spring flowering) **Group 3 & 4: Suitable verities for long day length, high light intensity and warm condition ( Autumn flowering) AmeriSeed Transplant : After 1 Month AmeriSeed Transplant : After 2 Month AmeriSeed Transplant : After 3 Month AmeriSeed Harvesting : Pre-harvest It is necessary to reduce irrigation and fertilizer before harvesting. Upper : Not reduced irrigation before harvesting : Inter-node and flower stems are stretching. Lower : Reduced irrigation before harvesting : Showing hard stems with shot flower stem AmeriSeed Harvesting : Harvest Harvest when one flower are opened. Remove the first bud before harvesting. This will help to increases the number of flowers Left : One flower opened for oversea market Right : 3-4 flowers open for domestic or local market The best time to harvest is in the morning because of plants contain high concentration of sugar at that time AmeriSeed Harvesting : Post-harvest After cutting, put cut flower stems in warm water, temperature around 20oC and store in a refrigerator at 4 0C. Preservative added after cutting is recommended. It will help to increases 40-50% vase life AmeriSeed Problem : Rosetting Rosetting is a natural survival response Main causes of Rosetting problems • • • High temperatures during germination and cotyledon stages Root damage caused by drying out from lack of irrigation and Burning from apply high concentration fertilizer To avoid Rosetting from sowing to transplant is to control the temperature by cooling equipment Sufficient irrigation into flower bed before planting will help to reduce soil temperature and establishment root system Soil preparation is good for taproot system. AmeriSeed Problem : Rosetting Normal Rosetting Normal Rosetting AmeriSeed Disease : Botrytis, Fusarium wilt Botrytis Fusarium wilt AmeriSeed Disease : Virus AmeriSeed Disease : Caterpillar AmeriSeed Disease : Nutrient deficiency Lack of Calcium Lack of Magnesium AmeriSeed Disease : Heat Damage The number of petals is obliged to reduce due to high temperature condition even if double flower type AmeriSeed Thank You AmeriSeed CONTACT US Asia Rep office Ameriseed (Thailand) Co., Ltd. 399 Chiang Mai-Maejo Rd., Nonghan, Sansai, Chiangmai 50290 Tel: 66 53 353581 Fax: 66 53 353881 E-mail: [email protected] Vietnam Office FlorAsia Vietnam Co., Ltd. 114/2, Number 5 Street, Ward 9, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City Tel: 84 8 62577491 Fax: 84 8 62577490 E-mail: [email protected] US Office Ameriseed Inc. 737 Alamo Pintado Road, Solvang, CA 93463 USA Tel: 1 805 691 1658 Fax: 1 805 691 1657 E-mail: [email protected] AmeriSeed
