About the Division In 2004, Atmos Energy acquired the regulated distribution and pipeline John A. Paris, Mid-Tex Division President operations of TXU Gas Company to form the Mid-Tex Division and John Paris was named president of the Mid-Tex Division in May 2007. Paris is responsible for Atmos Energy’s largest division with 1.5 million customers. With over 25 years of experience in the energy industry, he has also served as president of the Kentucky/Mid-States Division and has held numerous positions in operations, marketing and engineering. He graduated from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Atmos Pipeline–Texas Division. These operations have deep roots going back to the 1870s and the founding in 1909 of Lone Star Gas Company, which was acquired by TXU Corp. in 1997. As the largest natural gas distributor in Texas, the Mid-Tex Division has a long and proud history of serving residential, commercial and industrial customers across the state.
