Daddy has gone to jail again. We don’t have any money for new clothes. All of the problems in this family are your fault. I wish you had never been born. Here is what they should have heard as children: No matter what happens, we will always love you. You are such a blessing from God. God will get us through our problems. We love you enough to teach you what is right. We are so glad you are our child. We can’t go back and erase all the negative messages our kids have heard. All we can do is try to push those messages out of memory by the presence of healthy messages. Those negative statements above are actual words our kids have heard from their parents. Imagine how difficult that would make your childhood. Imagine how that would kill your dreams. Imagine the pain you would feel from hearing such words from the parents who were supposed to love, support, and protect you. Thanks for helping us give children better messages than they heard before they came to live with us. Thanks for helping us assure them there is a God in heaven, and He loves them very much. We were blessed starting in November with the Annual Toy Run, followed by a Thanksgiving Dinner provided by the Kappa Delta Chi Sorority and Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity of Tarleton State University. Throughout December, we celebrated with several churches and businesses. We are grateful for the season and grateful for those who helped our children celebrate. Page 4 www.fostershome.org Foster’s Home is proud to announce that Kevin Hand will begin work as Vice President of Development on February 4. Kevin and his wife Becky served as caregivers in Home 10 for the last two and a half years. Kevin is a graduate of Bellevue University, with a degree in Business. Kevin and Becky have an infant daughter named Brielle, and are expecting their second child later this spring. Kevin will be replacing Titus Robison, who faithfully served our children for almost eight years. Kevin will be traveling throughout the state for advancement and development purposes. We are excited about Kevin’s service to children as their caregiver, and now as their advocate among our supporting churches and individuals. Aggies for Christ Weeklong Since 1972, the Aggies for Christ have been spending the last week of their Christmas breaks with children in care across the state. This is a time that we look forward to all year. We are grateful for the time they spend playing with our children and the work they put into a few Neighborhood projects. Each year we are astounded at the show of support for our children who participate in the Junior Livestock Show. We have a number of faithful donors who directed financial gifts to be used in this program. As is our practice, and at the risk of omitting anyone, we typically do not publish those names. We do want to recognize two churches and a civic club for contributing to the success of the animal program. The Graford Church of Christ and the Huntsville Church of Christ Primetimers both designated gifts to help our children in this event. We are proud, too, of the Stephenville Evening Lions Club, who gave a very generous gift to offset feed and vet expenses. Besides monetary gifts through the Home, there are companies, groups, and individuals who help our children in ways such as paying directly for feed, buying clothes for children to wear to the show, purchasing and/or discounting animals for children to show, or volunteering to help our kids feed, clip, and clean their animals. We hope to capture all of these in the list below. Our apology if we omitted anyone. That is certainly not our intention! Tolar Kindergarten This fall, the kindergarten classes from Tolar Elementary school collected boxes upon boxes of various fruit snacks for our commisary. They also went on a tour of our Neighborhood and learned about day to day life at Foster’s Home. Santo Ladies Recently, we were blessed with new quilts for our children from ladies of the Santo Church of Christ. What a blessing it is for each child to receive a quilt handmade with love!
