WELCOME...
... to our new look brochure including all our summer
events at The Electric Theatre.
If you’re passionate about local theatre and the arts, want fun workshops and
classes, or maybe just want somewhere by the river to sit and have a coffee, you’ll
find it all at The Electric Theatre. Please pop in, get to know our staff, use our free
wifi and treat us like your home from home.
Our summer season promises to be very exciting, packed with a whole variety of
events. We’re particularly looking forward to a busy three weeks of children’s
theatre workshops where we cram in seven different courses suitable for a range
of ages. If your child is a budding theatre technician then why not try Electric
Works (p 12) or if performing is more their thing, then take a look at the Guildford
Summer Youth Projects (p 12 and 13).
Our programme of jazz music continues in partnership with Guildford Jazz. Look
out for the four fantastic Jazz Café events (p 5, 8 and 10), please book quickly as
these tend to sell out.
We have a wonderful selection of performances and concerts from members of the
Guildford Amateur Theatre Association. These include Pranksters Theatre Company
with Brassed Off (p 4), Merrow Dramatic Society with Family Circles (p 5),
Guildford School of Acting with two weeks of musicals (p 6), Godalming Operatic
Society (p 7) and Surrey Mozart Players (p 8). Our resident youth theatre, The
Man In The Moon also presents an exciting festival week of youth theatre
productions (p 10).
We hope to see you at the Theatre soon!
The Electric Theatre Team
GATA is an umbrella organisation with 23 societies and
groups including theatre and opera companies, singing and
youth groups, as well as dancers and film makers. The
Association works towards advancing public education in the
dramatic arts in and around Guildford and has been a major
ally of The Electric Theatre, having been instrumental in its
founding. Many of the groups perform at The Electric
Theatre year in, year out – why not drop in and see what
they’re up to, and maybe join in too? Keep an eye out for
auditions, or other ways of getting involved behind
the scenes.
