Time: 7 to 10 pm Community dance open to all ages, includes many contra dances, waltzes, polkas, northern NM mixers, fun for the whole family. Location Old Elks Club, 315 N. Texas St, Silver City, NM; Tickets $10, free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult. A really fun, friendly evening with all local dance callers, our new bright spot in southern NM. You will recognize many of the faces in the band from the L.C. May contra dance. Big Ditch Crickets Contra Dance Band July 4th Celebration “Sparkles in July” by City of Las Cruces All day celebration starting with youth activities at noon, fireworks at 9:30 pm, music 4 pm-11 pm, Don’t miss 8 pm. Don McLean, legendary American singer/songwriter, and at 6 pm band Yesterday, a Beatles Tribute band from Las Vegas NV. Did I mention FREE. Yesterday – Beatles Tribute Band Don McLean folk/folk rock legend July 19 KRWG Benefit Concert by Steve Smith & Hard Road Rio Grande Theatre, 7 to 9:30 pm, 211 N. Main, Las Cruces downtown, with mandolin virtuoso Steve Smith, songbird Chris Sanders, Anne Luna and Nate Lee on fiddle, 3-part harmonies, original southwest acoustic blend of Americana and bluegrass music. Aug 22-24 40th Santa Fe Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival http://southwestpickers-festival.org/ at the Santa Fe NM fairgrounds. Weekend of main stage performers, 10 music contests including the fun band scramble, instrument workshops, informal jams, Saturday Evening Dance, onsite camping. Friday night concert: Paw Coal and the Clinkers. Main stage talent: The Chapmans, James Reams and the Barnstormers, Higher Ground, Todalo Shakers, Chirps Smith-Steve Rosen-Fred Campeau from the Volo Bogtrotters, Frank George-Kim Johnson. If you play a musical instrument, bring it. Our local guys, Jefferson Jones, will be playing under the name Little Table Contraband at 1:30 pm Saturday on the Showcase Stage. Way to go guys!!!
