PAC BXT Remote Trainer Guide
PAC BXT Remote Trainer Guide www.pacdog.com A practical guide to the function and operation of your PAC BXT Remote Trainer Whilst your dog is getting used to wearing the optional dummy collar (see Training Guide - The Dummy Familiarisation Period), use this opportunity to familiarise yourself with the kit. A tour of the kit and its functions now will almost certainly avoid problems at critical moments in the future. During manufacture and test the batteries in the collar will have been charged and you should, therefore, be able to perform the suggested familiarisation exercises in some of the following sections. If you are not familiar with the use of Remote Training collars, please read and understand the Training Guide before attempting to use the equipment for correction of your dog. Do not overtighten. Check regularly to ensure tightness Collar reacting to handset signal Collar in receptive state see RESET, Pages 3 and 4 Optional Dummy collar. Its use is strongly recommended for intial PAC collar familiarisation (see Training Guide) Rounded probes (as fitted) suitable for most dogs) Also supplied: smaller radius probes for dogs with thicker coats 2 Turn Collar ON/OFF ON/OFF OFF= 1 ON/OFF ON= 1 To Turn ON Orientate the collar so ON/OFF arrow (illustrated here on the BXC1 collar) aligns with the arrow on the handset’s left side. See Page 1 for AXC5 collar ON/OFF arrow position When arrows touch, Collar LED will flash green, and then give a confirmation *beep* completing the ON operation When separated from the handset the collar will be in the standby, ON state, indicated by its LED slow flashing green @ once per second To Turn OFF Orientate the collar so ON/OFF arrow aligns with the arrow on the handset’s left side When arrows touch the collar will flash momentarily red and then give a confirmation *beep*completing the OFF operation When separated from the handset the collar will no longer flash. Check this by observing the collar LED for about 1 second afterwards NB Wait for *beep* to confirm completion of ON or OFF operation Note on collar colours: BXT1 kits are normally supplied with black straps; BXT2 kits are normally supplied to coordinate with the green and blue trigger sets. Other colours are available on request PAC Contact Details PAC wishes you success with your training Local Dealer/Agent TOUCH= 3 SEPERATE= COLLAR TUNED= RESET the Collar BXT1 and BXT2 RESET PRESS for 1 second 1 RESET i 1 RESET function ensures collar matches handset frequency RESET can be initiated whether collar is ON or OFF Touch the units at this point to activate the magnetic switch To Initiate RESET Orientate the collar so RESET arrow aligns with the arrow on the handset’s left side Collar LED will glow a steady RED Separate the Collar and Handset The Collar Status LED will now flash fast ORANGE (@6/second) showing that the collar is in a receptive state and awaiting tuning signal from the handset* For BXT1 Press briefly (for about 1 second) any trigger to tune (i.e.’match’) the collar to the handset. The collar LED will then glow orange for 1 second showing that it is tuned. Collar is now ON and in standby Continued on next page (page 4). * Do not leave the collar awaiting a tuning signal, since, in this state it could be susceptible to any compatible, external signal 4 BXT 2 only =COLLAR TUNED RESET (contd.) RESET PRESS for 1 second PRESS for 1 second 1 =COLLAR TUNED Press briefly any green trigger to tune/match the ‘green’ collar to the green trigger set. Repeat the whole RESET procedure – then but this time with the ‘blue’ collar – using any blue trigger to match the ‘blue’ collar to the blue trigger set. BXT model Important Notes Following a RESET procedure, the collar is now ON Turn the collar OFF to conserve battery charge after RESET or after use. IMPORTANT: Confirm successful RESET operation by pressing any button on your chosen trigger-set to check own collar-handset match. Always RESET collar(s) after a recharge to ensure collar-handset match. RESET if you need to match collar to a different trigger set (e.g. on BXT2) or to another handset Never RESET two collars to the same trigger set. Turning collar OFF does not cause collar to lose identity, but should be recharged and RESET if left unused for 60 days or more. Whenever collar appears not to respond, try RESET as first solution 5 Spend just 5 minutes now to understand the function of your kit, by performing the following exercises. 5 minute 1 familiarisation Practise turning the collar(s) ON & OFF.See Page 2 2 Practise using the RESET function on your collar(s)… See Page 3-4 Notice that following a RESET operation, the collar ends up in the ON state (in standby, ready to use) 3 Plug an active collar into the Neon Tester, so that you can observe both the neon indicator and the LED. 4 Press the GREEN Tone Trigger See the collar LED react by changing flash rate from 1 per second (green) to 4 per second Hear the ‘*Beep,Beep,Beep*’ that your dog would normally hear from the collar Notice that the Neon does not flash, indicating that there is no stimulation with tone warning 5 Press the GREEN #1 Trigger See the LED react again by changing flash rate from 1 per second… to 4 per second (continuous- until you release the trigger) Notice that you hear no warning tone when the stimulation triggers are activated Notice that the Neon flashes dim orange, indicating that there is low level stimulus 6 Press each of the other GREEN triggers (i.e. #2, #3 & #4) in turn, and notice the same as (5) above. Notice that the neon flashes progressively brighter with the higher trigger numbers, indicating higher levels of stimulation. 7 BXT1 Repeat (4 - 6) above, but pressing the BLUE triggers. Notice that the same happens, except there is now only one single cycle (of tone ‘beep’ or stimulation impulse). Releasing the trigger and re-pressing it will give a repeat cycle. This is known as Single mode and is recommended for the new or apprehensive user, since it is very safe. 8 BXT2 Tune your second active collar to the BLUE trigger set, and repeat (4 - 6) above. Note that the BLUE collar only reacts positively to the BLUE trigger set and likewise the GREEN collar only reacts to the GREEN trigger set. 1 Notice that both collars operate in Continuous mode (continuous pulsing) until the trigger is released. 9 Notes If two triggers in the same set are pressed ‘simultaneously’ the higher number takes priority. If two triggers (one from each set) are pressed ‘simultaneously’ the first to activate takes priority. After the tests, remember to turn the collar(s) OFF to preserve the battery charge. 1 2 3 4 Power Adaptor 6 Power Adaptor Timed Charging Dock Handset Battery BXT 1 Charging Dock BXT2 Dual-Collar Charging Dock Power Adaptor and Timed Charging Dock. Periodically recharge collar (say, once a week). BXT1’s single collar dock automatically starts a full 16-hour charge cycle when collar is physically plugged in. The BXT2 (dual collar) dock ensures a full 16-hour charge cycle when ‘Set Timer’ button is pressed. • Observe polarity when recharging (i.e. + to +… and – to- ) • Do not charge unnecessarily or more that once in 24 hours • Dock LEDs glow when charging and extinguish automatically at the end of the charge cycle. Neon Tester (Do not confuse this tester with the BXT1 charging dock) The neon lamp flashes orange in the presence of high voltage. It is provided solely to demonstrate that the electrical stimulation is working. Tips on improving range of BXT system The transmitter range can be improved if the unit is not aimed like a TV remote control. Instead, the handset should be held vertically, and, at greater distances it should be held up high. 1 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 model BXT BXT handset battery is located behind panel at rear of the unit. Simply slide the panel down to access the 9v battery… which needs replacement only every 6-12 months.
