I have the BEST time when I’m performing with
these guys. Their music is very original , and they are
extremely talented . Energy, skills, and support are
definitely some things this band is not lacking. All we
need now is a huge deal from a
major record label.”

the band
WINNER of the 2005 Los Angeles Music Award for Best Pop/
Reggae Album, Mystic Roots Band is serving
up an original style based in reggae, hip-hop, and dancehall,
with overtones of rock, funk, and ska. MRB is consistently
placed at the top of playlists by DJs & listeners of all musical genres. This Chico-born, now San Diego based group
embraces the nature of roots reggae wholeheartedly and
perform it
confidently. The list of bands that they have shared the stage
with reads like a “who’s who” of reggae music, including The
Wailers, Pato Banton, Gregory Isaacs, Jimmy Cliff, as well
as Jurassic 5, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Sir
Mix-a-Lot, Ozomatli, and Digital Underground to name
just a few. Having independently sold close to 10,000 albums,
topping Amazon.com’s chart of independent artist sales,
and killing music download sites with their underground hit
“Pass” (go check for yourself right now!), it’s no wonder why
Mystic Roots Band was recently voted #1 band in Playboy
Magazine’s #1 party college town, Chico California, and
was TOP RANKED in both Reggae and Hip-Hop categories on
myspace.com with over 15 million members for over 20 consecutive weeks - and still going strong.
Through socially aware lyrics, Mystic Roots Band promotes
Positivity and spreads a conscious message. Fans describe
MRB’s style as a unique combination of No Doubt, Sublime,
The Police, Sean Paul, The Fugees and Cypress Hill with
the spirit and consciousness of Bob Marley and Spearhead.
This diverse sound enables Mystic Roots to continually produce dynamic, cutting edge songs that fans are immediately
drawn to. When coming to an MRB concert you are guaranteed more than just music for your ears, but rather a highenergy show and powerful experience you’ll never forget.
With their vast catalog of full-length albums, singles and EPs,
and their music heard on various compilations, surf videos,
TV commercials, movie soundtracks, Fox Sports, ESPN,
and countless radio stations, Mystic Roots has developed
an ever-growing legion of loyal fans. This fan base lies not
only in the United States, but also overseas in Europe, Latin
America, Australia, and even several regions of Asia. With
the upcoming release of their third album featuring collaborations with Barrington Levy and 2005 Grammy Nominated
artist Tippa Irie (Black Eyed Peas), more than 600 shows in
the finest venues on the West Coast over the past nine years,
and the explosion of reggae and dancehall music on the pop
charts, these pioneering musicians are ready to take their
message to the next level and reach the masses. “And that’s a
musical stampede.”

“The Breakfast Sampler”
Stay Positive Productions
The latest release from Stay
Positive Productions combines
various reggae and hip-hop songs highlighting the talent of each member of Mystic Roots.
Songs from Constant Struggle have been rereleased in this sampler, as well are songs from
cootdog’s latest album, The cootdog Project.
This latest offering also includes new songs
that will be appearing on the upcoming Mystic
Roots Band album, scheduled for release soon.
“Constant Struggle”
Stay Positive Productions
This is the widely known
breakthrough album that
resulted in international
attention among young and old. The album,
carefully crafted at Pro Sound Studio in Chico,
California has sold thousands of copies since
its release, earning a 2005 Los Angeles Music
Award for Best Pop/Reggae Album. Constant
Struggle gets regular airplay from Oregon
to Vallarta, Japan to France, and Alaska to
Venezuela. Capturing the ideas of love, life,
struggle and celebration, this disc encompasses
the overall message of the band.
Mystic Roots “Chico Style”
Stay Positive Productions
Mystic Roots’ first album.
This CD was recorded live
in Chico, CA in late 1997.
It captured the band’s new sound where it
sounded best, smack dab in Chico at a Mystic
Roots party. Although all but two of the band
members have changed from this original
line-up, this is a good chance to hear some
classic Mystic Roots tunes and covers in the
early stages. After selling out the original batch,
this disc was not available for many years. A
re-release is in works and will be available soon.

By producing incredible shows up and down the West
Coast of the US, Mystic Roots expands their already

After being approached repeatedly by blown away
show patrons as well as people discovering them in
other ways asking how they can get involved in
promoting Mystic Roots, the band decided to organize

generating even more loyal listeners.

media quotes
“Mystic Roots is a great blend in pop and reggae,
wonderful stage presence, awesome lyricists, and
a rocking good time. These guys run right along
sidewith our past nominees such as Black Eyed
Peas, No Doubt, 311 and Sugar Ray and they are
sure to end up just as successful!”
Shannon B. - Los Angeles Music Awards
“It was something of an all-encompassing
musical journey, suffused in an appropriate bluish light and serving as a capstone to a
successful big fish/small pond career. And the
vibes were indeed positive, with the crowd consistently shouting its approval and clapping its
hands and singing and smiling and dancing right
along, thanking the Roots right back. The band
has nothing left to prove.”
- Bret Lueder, The Synthesis, Chico, CA
“The Mystic Roots Band, who produce dynamic,
varied music in a variety of styles (including rock,
ska and reggae) were in good form, and you
could feel it, literally. You could feel it in the chest,
the head and in the legs, thanks to the acoustics
of the room and the energy and force rooted in
the percussion, it just propelled people to dance
more and dance harder. “ The band played song
after song, many of were familiar to the appreciative crowd, with rambling guitar solos, honest
new-school raps, blaring horn solos and stunning
vocal exhibitions, every once in a while accentuated by a duet, a harmony, a cascade of notes
outside of the common citizen’s range.”
- Jory John, The Chico News and Review
“With huge variety of bands in the region,
Mystic Roots Band was a blow-away surprise.
They packed a house on a Thursday night, and
displayed excellent musical talent. They got
funky, they rocked, they rapped, the crowd all
left at the same time as me, only after the last
note was played.”
- San Diego Reader Magazine
“With excellent
booking ratings,
and consistently
expanding faithful
turnouts, Mystic Roots Band
delivers full houses everytime. Also, the band’s
comprehensive brand identity and recognizable
logos are spreading their name like fire.”
- Kingpin Entertainment, NYC
“Mystic Roots has developed quite a
following in Chico and their popularity
has increased almost as much as their talent.
Friday night’s performance proved these
guys are more than just a reggae band for
house parties and downtown bars. Their
second album shows the band’s musical
growth since its first release, Chico Style.
The sound’s are a whirl of reverb over a
methodical pulse that make you feel like
you’ve been hypnotized.”
“An amazing live show! It is rare to find a band
like this still relatively undiscovered. It won’t
be long before these guys are everywhere.”
- San Diego Music Matters, San Diego, CA
“Mystic Roots Band is far more developed
than most bands I have seen or worked with.
These guys are an industry dream come true,
already having established themselves
independently. They’ve toured for a decade,
maintaining a huge existing fan base all over
the world. The proof to me lies in their devoted
street teams from here to Denmark generating
thousands of album sales with no major-label
assistance. All a label would have to do is put
these discs in stores, put the band on tour, put
the videos on TV, and with good marketing,
watch this thing blow up!”
- Art Carrey, President, Mexico Spring Break Cancun
“With catchy riffs and radio-friendly lyrics, the
album’s title track “Constant Struggle” and the
sensual love song “April Rain” are excellent
singles. “Stay” makes you want to skank rudely
with a smile on your face.”
“The kind of show Mystic Roots plays is
brimming capacity and high energy, and
they do so every show, fully! Now, they have
almost as big of a following in SoCal as they
have in Chico.”
- Kevin Perry, The Orion, Chico, CA
- Linda Overly, The Synthesis, Chico CA
fan quotes
“Mystic Roots let them know... They are no Stock
on no Shelf... Positive Sound...Champion Sound!”
“One of California’s finest reggae bands.”
- Roger Steffens, Beat Magazine, LA
- World Famous Recording Artist, Barrington Levy
“Man I’m really feeling this band. pass the marijuana is an awesome frikin’ song. I just wanted
to know if you had any plans of touring the east
coast. If you guys did I’d be first in line for tix.”
“I heard of Mystic Roots through a local radio
station called “The Buzz”, they play your song
“Pass the Marijuana” at 4:20 every so often.
I’ve been ever since.”
- Chris Grafing, Port Saint Lucie, FL
- Keith Cameron, New York
“I like the principles you wrote, especially the
“Respect and love through music”, and I think
it works with your music and it’s clear for me to
support your activities in every way I can do.”
“The songs in “Constant Struggle” are the usual
reggae themes: love, positive vibrations, overcoming life’s hardships and, of course, the sacred
herb. What separates Mystic Roots’ second album
from other reggae records is the electric mix of
styles the band explores.”
- Ulli Schulstraße, Konstanz, Germany
- Jeff Clemtson, Chico, CA
“What up Roots? I went up to sundance film
festival to one of their parties up there and got
them to play a couple of your songs I had quite
a few people asked me about you and where to
get an album and I told them your web address
so hopefully they are going to order some. I also
get free flights into Long Beach, LAX, Santa Ana,
and San Diego so my Wife and I will probably fly
down whenever we have some time to catch a
show. I’ll do what I can to get you guys gigs out
here in Utah.”
- Clint & Trisha, Salt Lake City, Utah
“I just wanted to say that you guys are one
badass band. I love the CDs and listen to them
over and over. I was just wondering when you are
gunna have a show at the house of blues? I think
you guys should, I’m sure it would sell out, and I
can help you if you want.”
- Tony, Menfee, CA
“We never miss MRB when you come to town!”
- Mathew & Francesca, Chico, CA
“I heard the band on a local radio station and
loved it immediately. You guys are blowin’ up!
Put out another album!”
- Kyle Cuatt, Jensen Beach, FL
