LIFE IN A POSTCARD - OUR STORY
The Hotel Eldorado has been part of BC’s destination hotel resort experience since 1926. It is a story
of Austrian blue bloods and thrilling vacations, a story of a famous honour bar and Olympic rowers,
a story of London cabs and dog shows. From the beginning, it has always been a story of unique
hospitality, social events and a welcome that knows no borders.
It was then what it is today; a singularly unique social and vacation experience set in one of Canada’s
most spectacular destinations, the Okanagan Valley. 300 kilometres from the Lower Mainland in the
BC Interior and an easy flight from all major airports, the Hotel Eldorado is located on the shores of
Okanagan Lake. For those who have travelled in other countries, you will recognize that this place is
one of the most scenic in the world.
Originally the brain child of the Countess Bubna-Littite of Austria, the Hotel Eldorado has welcomed
generations of visitors to the Okanagan since 1926. In the 1950’s and 60’s the El, as locals came to
call it (and you may as well), was the hub, the place where locals gathered with friends, where visitors
stayed, where generations married and celebrated. The town was small, about 20,000 residents only,
but it was a place of energy and enthusiasm and vision. The Hotel Eldorado hosted dog shows and
garden parties and croquet with Kelowna mayor John Hindle, and his wife Jennifer, graciously welcoming guests. John would pad about the El barefoot, wishing all a good night when it came time to
retire, leaving his patrons to the famous honour bar. One of those celebrated patrons no doubt, Glen
Mervyn, fresh from his silver medal race in Canada’s eight man scull at the 1960 Rome Olympics. That
great sporting history hangs above you in our Lakeside Dining Room, Lounge, and our pool area.
The town is bigger now, but the essence of what it is to stay at the Hotel Eldorado has not changed.
It is where adults have come to play since 1926.
Jim Nixon and his family took over the El in the 1980’s, rebuilding on the current lakeshore location
and building upon the great legacy of those who came before. Now the El has passed to the next
generation of ownership. Ted Callahan, CEO of Argus Properties, remembers the Hotel Eldorado from
his childhood and knows that ownership brings with it a responsibility to honour those who came
before and to embrace the rich traditions of our magnificent hotel.
WEDDING CEREMONY VENUE
SUN ROOF CEREMONY
WEEKENDS: FRIDAY TO SUNDAY - $2,500
MID-WEEK: MONDAY TO THURSDAY - $2,000
Maximum Capacity: 150 guests with additional standing room
First priority for on-site ceremonies is given to wedding couples hosting an onsite wedding reception in the Sunroom or Great Room. You may book the Sun
Roof for your ceremony only for an additional $500 (Based on availability; with
off-site reception).
This ceremony venue is unlike any other in Kelowna and will literally take your
breath away. “I Do’s” become more magical with Okanagan Lake as your backdrop and wedding pictures will be transformed with sweeping 360 degree Valley
views. The Eldorado outdoor Sun Roof can host up to 150 of your closest friends
and family and will definitely be the wedding they always remember!
Ceremony Rental Fee includes the following:

WEDDING RECEPTION VENUES
LAKESIDE SUNROOM AND TERRACE (MAIN FLOOR)
WEEKENDS: FRIDAY TO SUNDAY - $1,500
MID-WEEK: MONDAY TO THURSDAY - $1,150
Maximum Capacity: 100 guests, or up to 130 guests for a cocktail-style (standup) reception. Required Minimum Spend: $7,000 (includes all food and beverage
provided by the Hotel Eldorado)
Classically styled just above water’s edge, the main floor Lakeside Sunroom is
a bright and beautiful banquet space accommodating up to 100 guests. This
private space features original hardwood floors and an array of retractable glass
doors that open directly onto an adjoining 720 square foot covered terrace.
Whether your preference is buffet style or a gourmet plated dinner, the Sunroom
easily lends itself to both. Sure to be a wedding to remember, guests will enjoy
dancing lakeside in the Sunroom watching the sun set over Okanagan Lake!

We love weddings so much we decided to expand our second floor banquet
space in 2011 to create the ultimate wedding reception venue. Anything but
a boring ballroom, the Great Room is a unique event space seating up to 150
guests with floor to ceiling windows, cork flooring perfect for dancing the night
away and drop down LCD projector to show off your fave photos. The adjoining
Lake View Terrace Bar is perfect for pre-reception mingling and can be set up to
feature personalized “Mr.” and “Mrs.” wedding bevies for you and your guests!

DEPOSIT & PAYMENT
A $1000 non-refundable/non-transferable booking deposit is required to secure the
private reception space. In addition, a $1000 non-refundable/non-transferable booking
deposit is required to secure the private ceremony space. In the event that you wish
to host your ceremony and reception at the Hotel Eldorado, a $2000 non-refundable/
non-transferable deposit is required to secure both spaces. The booking deposit
can be payable by cheque, cash or credit card, a valid credit card must be on file to
proceed with your booking at the Hotel Eldorado. All weddings must be fully pre-paid
in advance. Sixty days prior to your wedding date, we require 50% of the estimated
food, beverage, & reception rental costs. The remaining 50% is then required 30 days
prior to the date of the wedding. Should the estimated food and beverage amount be
higher or lower than the actual amount, a refund will be given, or the balance owing
will be applied to the credit card on file approximately seven business days following
your event.
CANCELLATION
The advance deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable in the event that you
cancel your wedding with the Hotel Eldorado. If a wedding cancellation is made
within the date of booking to 60 days prior to your event, 50% of the estimated food
and beverage costs, including applicable tax, will be applied as a cancellation fee. If
a wedding cancellation is made within the 59 days leading up to your event, 100% of
the estimated food and beverage costs, including applicable tax, will be applied as a
cancellation fee. All cancellations must be in writing, and the fee made payable no later
than thirty days after the cancellation has occurred. A portion of the cancellation fee
may be refunded in the event that the Hotel Eldorado is able to make up for the loss of
the room rental/ceremony fee and food & beverage revenue on that specific date.
GUESTROOM BOOKINGS
The Hotel Eldorado is a boutique hotel with 46 guestrooms and six Luxury Lakeview
Suites. Once the wedding booking contract and deposit has been received the
wedding rate code and booking details will be provided. This will allow you and your
guests to book guestrooms directly through the Hotel Eldorado website or to call
hotel reservations. Wedding rates are based on availability at the time of making a
reservation, and are based on a first-come, first-served policy.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
All food and beverage served in the hotel must be provided by the Hotel Eldorado:
no outside food or beverage will be permitted. Exceptions will be made for wedding
cakes/cupcakes and candy for a “candy bar,” however they must be supplied by a
creditable company due to Interior Health regulations.
