ANNOUNCEMENTS Beyond the Battle Art Therapy Sessions Art thearpy classes for veterans suffering from PTSD and other related disorders are being offered through Lakeville Yellow Ribbon. The Lakeville Area Active Adults offers programs and activities to members age 50+, including educational classes, exercise classes, health and wellness programs, informational seminars, hobbies, games, day trips, extended trips, special events, social programs, and more. Here are just a few of the many activities offered: Health Angels Biking Rides are on Wednesdays. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at Heritage Center (leave at 9 a.m.), or meet at the trailhead. Riders receive an email each week with ride information. This bicycle club rides approximately 20 miles per outing in the metro area and stops for lunch. You must provide your own bicycle and helmet. This year, riders will wear yellow reflective vests, available at Fleet Farm (provide your own). Pickleball Play on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m., May through mid-October, at Bunker Hill Park, 16755 Gerdine Path. Pickleball is a fun game played on a lined court similar to a tennis court with a plastic ball and paddles. It’s easy for beginners to learn, and it can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. All equipment is provided. Bring a lawn chair and water. Line Dance Classes Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m.-noon This a progressive process starting with very simple steps and moving to more advanced dances. Come and dance at the time that best fits your skill level. Led by volunteers Ed and Dolly Foland. • 8:30-9 a.m.: Ed teaches beginners the 12 basic steps of line dancing and terminology. • 9-9:30 a.m.: Ed and Dolly lead line dance practice, reviewing the Electric Slide and other easy dances. • 9:30 a.m.-noon: Dolly teaches line dance class. STAFF UPDATE Public Works Dodd Boulevard Reconstruction Recently completed work includes concrete curb and gutter installation and bituminous paving between 190th and 185th Streets. Upcoming work includes additional paving and traffic signal installation. Weather permitting, the road is scheduled to open before the school year begins. Streets Division The Streets Division has been focusing on grading gravel roadways and gravel shoulders following the wet weather. Staff has also been cleaning up trees and branches and followed up on some localized flooding after the high winds and heavy rain we experienced last week. Park Maintenance Staff has been preparing the Land of Amazement 2.0 site for installation of the new playground on September 16 and 17. Work on the site has included installation of a concrete border and storm drainage work.
