Your Cards and Prayers will Comfort and Touch
The Care list is a list of members and friends who are sick, bereaved, or
celebrating a happy occasion. After reading their names, you may want to
write a short message to someone on the list. You may use one of the blue
cards in the pews. Simply address the card, write your note, and place it in
the offering plate. We will see that it is delivered.

Fifth Sunday after Pentecost
The color green marks the sanctuary during the time after Pentecost. This
season of the church year is a time where the church focuses not so much
on feasting (like Christmas and Easter) or penitent reflection (like Advent
and Lent) as on watchfulness and expectation of the Second Coming of
Christ.

Welcome and Announcements
Opening Voluntary
Finale from Sonata VI
- Felix Mendelssohn
*Call to Worship (Psalm 130)
One: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
All: Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
One: If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?
All: But there is forgiveness with you,
so that you may be revered.
One: I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope.
All: My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning,
More than those who watch for the morning.
One: O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is great power to redeem.
It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

LAUDA ANIMA
Praise, my soul, the King of heaven; to His feet thy tribute bring;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, evermore His praises sing:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise the everlasting King!
Children through age five may leave the sanctuary for the Children’s
Activity Time following the response, and they may be picked

People: And also with you.
(Please pass the peace of Christ as you greet your neighbor, saying,
Prayer of Confession:
In you, O Lord, there is steadfast love;
in you is great power to redeem,
so to you I appeal, for I am in need of redemption.
Forgive me Lord,
for the violence done by me and on my behalf,
for the greed that is in my heart that fuels my selfishness
and informs my anxiety,
for the power that you have given me that I fail to comprehend,
and for the gift of love that I abuse and take for granted.
By your mercy, O Lord, in this silence hear my confession, and lead me to
new life.
Silent Prayers of Confession
Provide me with pardon for sin and a peace that endureth. Amen.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy
Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,
dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day
he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth
on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he
shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion
of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory,
forever. Amen
“The peace of Christ be with you,” and responding, “And also with you.”)
