1st fundraiser. Selling football books seemed viable, members offered
participants a chance to win $$ for purchasing a book. The Club would track
the playoff games, track the winners, and mail the proceeds back out. The 1 st
year 100 books were sold. In time advertising was sold to offset the printing
costs, some businesses offered great deals which actually helped the Club sell
more books. Perkins even offers a free slice of pie coupon in every book. By
1994 the Club was selling 750 books per year, with previous member Dick

VERY SPECIAL THANK-YOU to Paula
Rear who has been a member of the Club
since 1993. Thank you for the countless
time given selling Football Books, Football
Ads, Chairing the Hospitality Booth,
serving on the Board, and staying active in
so many other areas of our Club!!
VERY SPECIAL THANK-YOU to new
member Dick Rutherford for all you do!
For the time you’ve given Chairing and
re-organizing the Ride For Youth. For
cooking award winning Chili at the
Northern Hills Training Centers Annual
Event. You are appreciated!
Clark Printing (Tour) 11/20 – Clark Printing has been
supporting the Optimist Club for many years, get a rare
chance to get a behind the scenes tour of some of their
amazing machinery. See their Heidelberg four color press,
it’s rated the best in the world. They are a computer forms
manufacturing plant, one of few left in the nation, they
wholesale this product to other printers across the nation.
Computer forms are the tractor feed perforations along side
the pages used by some larger businesses still today. The press used in this process came from
England and is quite impressive.
Clark Printing offers a full service mailing facility, book binding services from saddle stitch, coil, to
perfect binding soft or hard cover. They print just about anything from brochures, to checks, and have
a full service design department that offers as much or as little development graphic assistance as is
needed or requested. They also have a full retail office store. The Tour is open to anyone!

Grants (Applications being taken through 12/31) –. Each Optimist Club in the US & throughout
the world looks within their community to determine how they can best help their area’s youth.
After forming in 1986 our Club determined that offering grants would be the primary way to help,
by 1990 we were granting just under $5,000 per year, by the year 2000 that amount had grown to
almost $17,000 & by 2013 our Club was granting $30,000 per year. The grant committee divides
the funds equally three ways: academic, athletic, and domestic. In 2013 the Club offered grants to
over 50 organizations all focused on helping our areas youth.
