Children’s Home Society provides services to thousands of children and families each year as they work to
overcome the devastating impact of abuse and neglect. Many of these children are being raised by foster
parents, adoptive parents or grandparents, other relatives who have stepped in to provide the love and
nurturing every child deserves. Some of these children also live with Children’s Home Society in one of our
two residential homes. Others are working hard with their families to overcome challenges and change
unhealthy family relationships so that their future will be
brighter. The support we receive throughout the year is instrumental
in allowing us to provide the highest quality of service to a very
vulnerable group of children. During the holiday season, there are
opportunities for us to help relieve some of the pressure their families
are facing and to provide a little comfort and joy. To do this, we need
your help.
Enclosed are lists of items that will be used to help children and
families in need. By your donations, you, your family, your
co-workers and business, faith community, or other community group
can help make wishes come true.
Children's Home Society of Missouri has partnered with Amazon to help support
CHS programs. Please select Children's Home Society as your charity preference when
you make purchases on-line through https://smile.amazon.com/ch/43-0652622 . It takes just a few minutes to
sign-up and select Children's Home Society of Missouri. Amazon provides a 5% donation to CHS based on
your total on-line purchases. What a great way to avoid the hustle and bustle at the stores while supporting
your favorite charity!
All donations must be coordinated with the Development Department. You can
drop items off at 1167 Corporate Lake Drive, St. Louis, MO 63132, Monday Friday 8:00am-6:00pm. You can arrange for a pickup or for questions by
calling (314) 968.2350, ext. 222 or email at [email protected].
For the safety of the residential children, no gifts can be accepted at the
residential homes without prior arrangements made with Development
Staff.
Please leave all gifts unwrapped. They should be received by
December 15, 2016.
You can also make a charitable gift online at www.chsmo.org/donate or
call (314) 968-2350, ext. 222. Children’s Home Society has YOP Tax credits
available that help expand your charitable contribution while reducing
your Missouri tax liability.
Thank you for making dreams come true for CHS’s children
and families this Holiday Season!

Family Wishes
Stacey and Michael are young parents to two little boys who are 11 months old and 3. Mike worked for a large
company for 12 years before being laid off as the company down-sized. Now they both work two jobs each; their
jobs are part-time and do not provide health insurance or assistance with child care. Even working it is often
difficult to meet everyone’s needs. With all the extended family several states away, Stacey and Mike struggle on
their own to provide anything beyond the absolute necessities.
To help families like this one, these items would gratefully be accepted:

Susan became a widow and single mom to two children, Thomas and Erin, when their dad passed away from a car
crash. The whole family struggles with the grief of losing their dad, in addition to Thomas suffering from a
health condition that leads to extended stays in the hospital. Susan is determined to support her family and does
so by working several part time jobs, but the death of her husband and the medical bills are taking a toll on
everyone. She doesn’t know how she’s going to make the Holidays special for Thomas and Erin.
The holiday season is stressful for everyone, but especially for those

As we celebrate 125 years of service to children, we reflect on how many families have been
touched by Children’s Home Society. Since 1891, tens of thousands of children have found
their way to CHS through the Orphan Trains, abandonment, sickness, etc. and they have found
comfort in knowing that they are loved, wanted, and supported by parents who won’t give up
on them.
Our mission remains strong today because of supporters like you and those that have come
before you. We hope that as we move forward with our mission that you will continue to help
each and every child that counts on all of us to never give up. Thank you!
