Chinoiserie designed by Joanie Holton & Melanie Greseth featuring fabrics from the Anna Griffin’s Chinoiserie collection Starting with SET 1, you will sew your sets to each edge of the E square working counter-clockwise around the square. Chinoiserie Finished Quilt Size: 51” X 66” Be sure to read through instructions before beginning. Cutting instructions include 1/4” seam allowance. Yardage is based on 42” of usable fabric width. All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) unless otherwise stated. Press all seams as you assemble your blocks. Yardage and Cutting Instructions Vase Orange CF1706-1 5/8 yard B1. (7) 2-1/4” x WOF strips –binding Blossom CF1704-1 2 yards A. (6) 5-1/4” x WOF strips –sub-cut (24) Template A C. (6) 4-1/2” squares –sub-cut diagonally twice (24 triangles) E. (6) 5-1/4” squares F. (3) 5-1/2” x WOF strips –side borders Toile Orange CF1705-3 3/8 yard G. (3) 3” x WOF strips –top borders Riley’s Knot Block Assembly Sew (1) B1 piece to the right side of (1) A piece. Sew (1) C triangle to the other side of the B1 piece. (diagram 1) To the bottom of this set, sew (1) D3 piece. (diagram 2) Repeat to make (6) SET 1 D3 Diagram 1 A B1 C With right sides together, place (1) E square on top of SET 1 at the square corner of SET 1 the D3 strip. Along the base of SET 1, sew E to the center of the E square and stop. Press the seam toward D3 to mark Sew to center of E square. the continuing seam for later. 1 1.) Fold block at the first seam along the top of the E square, placing SET 1 wrong sides together with SET 4 base/E square. Align raw edges and finish seam to the end of SET 4 to complete block. Press seam toward SET 1 base. Repeat SET assembly to complete (6) blocks. Diagram 2 SET 1 Sew (1) B3 piece to the right side of (1) A piece. Sew (1) C triangle to the other side of the B3 piece. (diagram 1) To the bottom of this set, sew (1) D2 B3 piece. (diagram 2) The longest edge of your D piece will be D2 considered the BASE of your set going forward. SET 2 Repeat to make (6) SET 2 Sew (1) B2 piece to the right side of (1) A piece. Sew (1) C triangle to the other side of the B2 piece. B2 (diagram 1) To the bottom of this set, sew (1) D3 piece. (diagram 2) The longest edge of your D piece will be D3 considered the BASE of your set going forward. SET 3 Repeat to make (6) SET 3 Sew (1) B3 piece to the right side of (1) A piece. Sew (1) C triangle to the other side of the B3 piece. (diagram 1) To the bottom of this set, sew (1) D1 B3 piece. (diagram 2) The longest edge of your D piece will be D1 considered the BASE of your set going forward. SET 4 Repeat to make (6) SET 4 Quilt Assembly Layout (3) rows of (2) blocks each. Refer to quilt image for placement. Flip (1) block so orange and blue strip ends meet in the middle. Sew together. ROW 2 flip both blocks over to match orange and blue strip ends in ROW 1 and blue and green strip ends with ROW 3. Borders Sew (2) F strips together at one end, sew to the left side of quilt center. Press seam toward border and trim even with the top and bottom. Use remaining piece of F strip and sew to (1) F strip end. Sew to right side of quilt, press and trim even with top and bottom. Sew (2) G strips together at one end, sew to the top of quilt. Press seam toward border and trim even with the quilt sides. Use remaining piece of G strip and sew to (1) G strip end. Sew to bottom of quilt, press and trim even with sides. Finishing Layer quilt top, batting and backing piece, wrong sides of fabrics both toward batting and baste. Hand quilt, machine quilt or tie as desired. Sew binding strips (H) together into one continuous strip, iron in half lengthwise and sew to raw edge of quilt top. Fold in and overlap end of binding. Turn over raw edge and hand stitch in place on back of quilt.
