The StrongBox VSeries solution combines
the Crossroads StrongBox network-attached
storage (NAS) appliance with a StrongBox
VSeries LTO 6 tape library. While allowing
businesses to secure and simplify preservation
of unstructured data, the StrongBox VSeries
solution streamlines the IT environment while
reducing costs for long-term retention.
Simplified storage infrastructure
Together, the StrongBox appliance and the
StrongBox VSeries tape library offer an endto-end archiving solution from a single vendor,
making acquisition simple and economical.
The StrongBox NAS appliance serves as an
interface to the StrongBox VSeries library.
Through flexible, user-configured policies
and the intelligent disk cache, the StrongBox
NAS appliance provides disk-like access to
data while leveraging low-cost LTO 6 as the
underlying storage medium. End users never
even see the tape layer; tape management
is automated, seamless and transparent.
Likewise, the complexities and latencies of
traditional tape storage are eliminated by the
StrongBox NAS appliance’s automated policies
for data management.
Providing an open industry-standard
implementation, the StrongBox appliance
connects to the network via standard file
system protocols (NFS/CIFS), while the
VSeries tape libraries utilize LTFS-ready LTO
6 tape drives. As a non-proprietary solution,
StrongBox seamlessly integrates with existing
datacenter applications and components.
Energy-efficient scalability with LTO 6
The StrongBox VSeries libraries utilize LTO 6
tape technology, delivering the most scalable,
cost-effective and reliable storage available.
With a native capacity of 2.5 terabytes (TB),
LTO 6 media delivers high-capacity storage
that scales at a low cost. While the StrongBox
NAS appliance provides fast access to data,
the VSeries library stores data economically
and energy-efficiently. In fact, power costs
for StrongBox are one tenth the cost of an
all-disk alternative.

Flexible models with expanded
capacity to meet storage growth
With several StrongBox appliance and
VSeries library models to choose from, you
can find a perfect fit for your long-term data
retention needs. The entry-level V24 and
V48 libraries offer cost-effective solutions
ideal for smaller or satellite locations. These
self-contained libraries support several
LTO 6 tape drives and offer capacities from
50TB to more than 100TB. The V80 library’s
expandability allows you to add capacity
incrementally as your storage needs grow.
The base V80 capacity starts at 184TB (noncompressed). With the V80-EX expansion
chassis, you can extend storage incrementally
to more than 1 petabyte (PB), or up to 3.2PB
with compression.
Centralized support and maintenance
Crossroads Systems provides comprehensive
coverage on maintenance so that enterprises
and SMBs can simplify the IT center with one
vendor for archive needs. Each StrongBox
VSeries library solution comes with a three
year, two day advanced exchange hardware
warranty. Our support team provides rapid
response and full coverage support on both
StrongBox NAS appliance and the StrongBox
VSeries tape library, drives and media.
