Blessings to you, and welcome to our annual report for fiscal year 2014.
For more than 100 years, Concordia University-Portland has lived out its Lutheran liberal arts mission
to prepare leaders for the transformation of society.
By God’s grace, we are pleased to share that our mission, vision, and fiscal health are stronger than
ever before. While many colleges and universities continued to increase tuition, Concordia’s fiscal
health allowed us to freeze undergraduate tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year. We are one of
the most affordable private Christian liberal arts universities in the Northwest.
Fiscal Year 2014 Highlights:
– Concordia-Portland leads the Concordia University System’s enrollment growth and is currently
the fastest-growing university in Oregon. Online graduate degrees were a major driver of our
growth, delivered with the same commitment to our core themes of Lutheran, rigor, and servant
leadership.
– Our success in the online arena has opened new doors to collaborating with other Concordia’s
across the U.S., specifically New York and Nebraska, resulting in the development of Concordia
Online Education (COEdu).
– We look forward to graduating the first class from Concordia’s School of Law in Boise, Idaho, in
spring 2015.
– Concordia-Portland accepted an invitation to join the NCAA Division II Great Northwest
Athletic Conference and will begin competing in the new league in fall 2015.
– 3 to PhD™ is earning local, regional, and national attention from education, civic, community,

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
Concordia University is blessed by the leadership
of the Board of Regents and the Foundation Board of Directors.
The university is governed by the Board of Regents, elected by
the conventions of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, the
Northwest District, and the current board. The Regents meet
throughout the year to strategize, plan, and set forth policies that
are in turn carried out by the President, who is an advisory member
to the Board. The Board of Directors of the Concordia University
Foundation is comprised of dedicated individuals with an affinity
and passion to serve the mission of the university. The Foundation
Directors oversee the overall business affairs of the Foundation
and meet at various times throughout the year to inform, discuss,
and strategize the goals and activities of the Foundation. Although
Concordia University’s two governing boards are separate entities,
starting in Fiscal Year 2012, they began to meet simultaneously
and in cooperation with each other. Together, the university’s
Regents and Foundation Directors are referred to as the Council
of Trustees. The men and women serving the university through
these leadership roles have fostered our growth and provided the
vision that has led Concordia to this historic and exciting time. We
thank them for their service and their leadership to the Concordia
community and students.
