Introduction
Welcome to BuzzJoy’s promotional package, introducing you to the band.
Formed in 2003, BuzzJoy is a powerhouse 5-piece group that covers a wide array of
material, from Modern Rock, 90’s Favorites, 80’s Classics, Charting and Classic HipHop, a little Motown, a little Reggae, and Comedic crowd-pleasers planted in the sets
for good measure. Their energetic performances mix in styles for all musical tastes.
BuzzJoy prides themselves on putting on a hell of a show, and will employ every method
possible to make sure the audience has a memorable experience every time and every
place BuzzJoy visits. They work tirelessly to keep the crowds entertained.
BuzzJoy has an active mailing list with over 2,600 subscriptions, and will promote every
single show they play, from clubs to festivals to charity events. BuzzJoy is extremely
proud of the loyal following they have built through hard work and consistently great
performances. They routinely leave audiences clamoring and screaming for more.
All five members are accomplished musicians, and something rather unique - all five
members sing (albiet some better than others).
BuzzJoy is available for up to five hours of non-stop
entertainment at Clubs, Festivals, Casinos, and
College, Corporate and Private Events.

BuzzJoy is :
Jon Henson
vocals & guitar
Jon was born and raised in lovely Mansfield, Ohio.
During his younger days, his father made him shovel
dog poo for a living (at the vet’s hospital) - until Jon
went off to college to study why he didn’t want to shovel
poo for the rest of his life. In his first band, Jon quickly
figured out that he had an affinity for playing the guitar
and singing; and we all know how the fairer sex reacts to
that trait. Goodbye went the football career, and soon
after, Jon hit the scene with his unheard-of 80’s rock band
Night Vision. Since Jon did not want to shovel poo for
the rest of his life, he finished college, and now resides in
Columbus, selling drugs for a living. Legal drugs.
Every band needs an Idiot… Born in Rapid City, South
Dakota, Doug migrated to Ohio during his youth in
the back of the family’s 1966 VW Bug. He’s known to
have more lives than a black cat prowling the alleys of
Transylvania. Case in point: Ask him about watching
his new convertible barrel down a Hollywood Hills
boulevard - smashing into the home of a major motion
picture producer. How this tool wound up with a degree
from Bowling Green is still somewhat of a mystery.
Competent on a multitude of different instruments,
but not worth a crap on any of them, Doug has been
performing for the last 20 years, mostly to tree bark.
Eric Tilson

Doug Herbert
guitar & vocals
The professional student of the bunch, Eric was born and
raised in Galion, Ohio, and has been at Ohio State since
1996 where he is working on his Ph.D. in Latin American
Literature and Culture. Other than music and teaching
at OSU, he has spent most of his time in Columbus doing
things like studying, and yet more studying...followed
by much of the same. Eric has also spent considerable
time in Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Peru, Paraguay
and Argentina. Proving the DNA trickle-down theory,
Eric’s father Stephen is known throughout the region as
one of the best bluegrass players of his generation. Pay
particular attention while Eric sings “La Bamba” - he is
probably making fun of you in Spanish.

Mike Nicklaus
drums & vocals
Mike was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He has
been playing drums for 18 years both live and in the
studio, recording with many obscure singer-songwriters,
rock, and gospel bands. He also has extensive experience
playing almost every nondescript bar in the entire
Midwest. At one point, Mike was part of a band,
Blame Lucy, that got signed to a flailing record label.
Undeterred, they created a marvelously captivating
and critically-acclaimed pop album. Even more
miraculously, they went #1 in Australia with a song that
somewhat sounded like every other song on the radio at
the time. Much like the radio playlists of today.
Moo. How the hell a dairy farmer from Spencer, Ohio
ended up with a bass in his hands is anyone’s guess. Dan
runs a close second to Doug in the number of lives he has
lived, each one progressively zanier than the last. As he
finishes his degree in Music Composition at Ohio State,
he also gigs with many prominent regional blues and
jazz acts with his trusty upright bass. Dan composed
and engineered the original score for the independent
film Looking for Harrison. He also composed the
original score for the hilarious computer animated short
Suburbia by Eric Farmer. Moooooo.

Accom plishments
In the last year, BuzzJoy attained what many in the regional music industry
take years to do: they became established. They have had the pleasure of
performing in many of the top venues and premier events in Central Ohio.
BuzzJoy headlined WNCI, Gameworks, & Anheuser-Busch’s New Years Eve
2003 party at Easton, headlined many shows at Brewmasters Gate including
flagship events such as the OSU/Michigan tailgate bash, the Fiesta Bowl
tailgate, and Mardi Gras. They were a featured band in Columbus’ Arena
District for the Arena Football League’s debut, the Men’s NCAA Basketball
Tournament, and many other special events including the Columbus Blue
Jacket’s NHL home games.
In their work for charity, BuzzJoy is the featured entertainment for the
American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society’s Light the Night events, both of which have major central Ohio
corporate sponsorship with American Electric Power, Huntington Bank, The
James Cancer Hospital, NBC 4, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc.
BuzzJoy travels with tour-quality sound reinforcement and professional
lighting where needed.
