Chamber Connection ♦ September 2010 ♦ www.monett-mo.com Member Spotlight The Monett Veterinary Hospital has been a permanent fixture in the Monett business community for over 50 years. The hospital was founded in 1952 by Dr C.J. McCormick and has evolved into a modern full service animal hospital providing state-of-the-art health care. Dr. Brent Herrin, who is the current owner and hospital director, states, “We are honored to be a part of something that has such an impressive heritage. The Monett Veterinary Hospital has a long history of being a leader in quality animal health care in the area. We take very seriously the charge of providing the best pet health care.” In 1952, Dr. C.J. McCormick founded the Monett Veterinary Hospital. In 1964, the existing hospital was constructed at 215 Dairy Street. In 1978 Dr. Don McCormick joined the Monett Veterinary Hospital to practice with his father and spearheaded a major renovation and addition to the facility. In 1982 the Monett Veterinary Hospital became one of only 15 animal hospitals in the state to receive certification by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). The Monett Veterinary Hospital received many awards and accolades over the years. In 1985 the hospital was awarded the Veterinary Economics Award for Architectural Excellence and has been featured in Trends Magazine. In 2001 Dr. Brent Herrin purchased the hospital from Dr. Don and Dr. C.J. McCormick. Dr. Herrin was raised in Cassville, MO and received his Bachelor’s and Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He resides on a small beef farm south of Monett with his wife and two children. Dr. Herrin also owns and operates the Herrin Animal Hospital in Cassville, which is also an AAHA accredited hospital. In 2006 Dr. Herrin and his staff remodeled the front office at the hospital to its current state. In March of 2007 the hospital received the AAHA Excellence Award for 25 years of commitment to high standards of excellence and serving the community. Dr. Herrin and his staff of 9 employees, including two certified veterinary technicians, provide complete compassionate veterinary care for small animals. We do a lot of work with a local “no-kill” shelter and have sponsored a Holiday Toy Drive to benefit local children in need for the last 10 years. The main focus of the hospital is preventive and wellness care. Dr. Herrin has a special interest in surgery, especially orthopedic and laser surgery, and performs referral services for many of the area’s veterinarians. He also has a special interest in behavior counseling. We carry a full line of Hill’s®Science Diet and Prescription Diets, offer boarding, and some grooming in addition to complete medical, surgical, diagnostic, behavioral and preventive needs. Our modern facility allows us to provide our patients with immediate care and answers. We try to stay progressive and have equipped ourselves with instruments like a carbon dioxide laser, radiowave surgery unit and endoscopy. Our staff is professionally trained to provide compassionate veterinary care and excellent customer service. We strive to treat your pets like the valued members of your family that they are and provide our clients education about pet care needs through consultation, literature and our website (mvh.aahavet.org).
