Card to fly at the field.
Your new Skyhawks membership card must be
attached to your AMA card, and both should be
placed in your frequency pin slot when you have the
frequency clip. Thanks.
Report of Club Banquet
January 9, 2010
The Skyhawks Banquet went over in grand style.
Sheryl and Van did a wonderful job, as usual. For the
entertainment portion of the program paper airplane
building kits and then flying your creation was
enjoyed by all.
Many nice gifts were handed out, and Van and Sheryl
made sure everyone got plenty of tickets. Thanks to
Van and Sheryl for making this occasion a fun event.
February Skyhawks meeting will be February 7th at
the Longbranch, 7:00 pm.
Reminder: Van asked for board members to come 45
minutes early for a meeting prior to the regular
club meeting.

Senior Advisor’s Column:
Happy New Year! I hope that you are looking forward
to a fun year of building and flying. We had a good
turnout and great time at the dinner party. Thanks to
Van & Sheryl for the great door prize activities.
Have you renewed your AMA membership? You will
need to show your 2010 AMA card or send a photocopy to Geoff Barrance, Treasurer, to renew your
SkyHawks membership. Only current AMA and
Skyhawks members can fly at our field. This is an
important insurance requirement in our lease with the
city.
How are your winter building projects going? Our
annual Lindale Mall show will be in March. Please
start thinking about the models that you will have for
display at the show. The days are getting longer and
spring will be here before we know it. Now is a good
time to charge/cycle those batteries and do the routine
maintenance that our models require.
We want to welcome our two new club officers for
2010: Todd Davis, Vice President and Geoff
Barrance, Treasurer. They, along with incumbents Van
Winegarden, President, and Jim Buttleman, Secretary,
will provide great leadership for the Skyhawks this
year.

March Lindale Mall Show
The Cedar Rapids Skyhawks will be setting up a display of R/C aircraft in the center food court of Lindale
Mall on a late March date yet to be determined, starting at 8:00 AM. We will post the date, once it is comfirmed, on the Skyhawks web site. Everything must be in place and ready by 10:00 AM. The show hours
are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. No aircraft can be removed before 6:00 PM. There is a service entrance
located on the side of the building behind what was Bennigan’s Grill. We can park in the lot just outside
this entrance for the day.
We will need all types of R/C Planes, from park flyers on up. You can call me at 295-7311 or email me at:

We also need people who like to talk about the hobby to be at the show to answer questions and to help
people to understand why R/C modeling is so much fun.
