BUSINESS UNIT FACTS AND NEWS
In 2009, Russian Irkut Corporation selected
multiple systems from Hamilton Sundstrand
and Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower® PW1400G
engine for their MC-21 aircraft family.
Pratt & Whitney’s award-winning Geared Turbofan engine is an
ultra-fuel-efficient new engine option (neo) for the A320neo.
F135 engine for the F-35 Lightning II program is being developed for
the U.S. military and eight partner countries, including Britain, Canada,
Australia, Italy, Turkey, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands.
S-70i™ (international BLACK HAWK) helicopters are manufactured
at the PZL Mielec facility in Mielec, Poland.
In 2012, Carrier installed its 500th CO2OLtec™ food retail
refrigeration system in a new famila market in Friesoythe,
Germany. The environmentally sound system helps improve the
store’s energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint by using
the natural refrigerant carbon dioxide.
Otis lifts, Chubb fire detection systems and Sicli fire extinguishers
are installed in the Eiffel Tower, France.
Otis lifts are installed in the Torre Caja Madrid, Spain.
Otis lifts and escalators can be found at Germany’s Sony Centre.
Athens Metro, Greece, includes Otis lifts and escalators.
The Airbus A400M Military Transport Aircraft is equipped with the
17.5-foot diameter, eight-bladed FH385/386 propeller system
from Ratier-Figeac, a subsidiary of UTC Aerospace Systems. The
advanced design propeller system, the largest all-composite
propeller in production, was certified by the European Aviation
Safety Agency in March 2012.
Vatican, Vatican City, is equipped with Carrier air-conditioning
and Otis lifts.
In 2009, Zardoya Otis’ Madrid factory started
production in a new factory, which uses solar
panels to capture 60 percent of the energy
required for operations. The factory’s key
product is the highly efficient Gen2® lift.
In 2004 and 2007, ECE awarded Otis
contracts to supply and install lifts, escalators
and moving walkways in 28 shopping centres
across Eastern Europe.
In Istanbul, Pratt & Whitney and its partner
Turkish Technic operate the Turkish Engine
Centre to overhaul CFM56® and V2500®
engines.
In 2009, Sikorsky began manufacturing the
first international variant of the BLACK HAWK
helicopter at the newly modernised PZL
Mielec facility in Poland. Sikorsky continues
a half-century-long tradition of providing
helicopters to the Royal Household of the
United Kingdom.
In 2012, Carrier installed its 500th
CO2OLtec™ food retail refrigeration system,
this one in a new famila market in Friesoythe,
Germany. Carrier’s installations across
Europe reduce carbon dioxide equivalent
emissions by 137,100 tons, equal to taking
37,200 cars off the road. The company’s
Montluel facility in France uses 100 percent
green electricity from renewable sources,
such as hydroelectric and wind turbine.
