Crater Lake National Park is 36 miles northeast of Joseph
Stewart on Highway 62. One of Oregon’s most scenic
attractions, the pristine blue lake attracts half a million
visitors each year. The lake was formed more than 6,000 years
ago by the eruption and collapse of Mt. Mazama. A wide
variety of accommodations and visitor services are available,
many of them year-round.
Jacksonville, just west of Medford, is a National Historic
Landmark with commercial buildings, residences, churches,
and museums dating back to the 1880s.

Stretch your legs on 5½ miles of hiking trails and
6 miles of bike paths within the park. The trails connect the
day-use area with the campground and connect with other
trails outside the park. Joseph Stewart is near the U.S. Forest
Service’s Upper Rogue River hiking trail, which connects
with the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail near Crater Lake.
Cole Rivers Fish Hatchery, 4 miles west between Joseph
Stewart and Casey State Recreation Site, is the largest
hatchery in Oregon and is open for self-guided tours.

Anglers troll the 10-mile-long reservoir all year for trout and

parking lot.

Campsites are limited to eight people and three vehicles per
site to protect natural resources. Campsite rates includes
parking for one vehicle; additional vehicles cost extra. All
vehicles must be parked on pavement at the site or in a
designated parking area. Parks staff strictly enforce these
regulations. Visitors are encouraged to rent enough sites to
accommodate all of their vehicles.
A boat ramp and moorage facility in the day-use area serves
visiting boaters. The marina near the day-use parking lot
offers a store with a cafe and boat rentals.
