The 2012 Scarecrow Cruise & Car Show was a Huge Success!
By MCC Member Tom Phillips
By all measures the 9th Annual Scarecrow Cruise & Car Show was a huge success!! Here are
some of the highlights:
1. 76 classic vehicles participated in the Cruisen-4-Cash event on Friday, October 19 visiting
12 participating local businesses winning $1000 in cash, prizes, and countless door prizes to
start the event. How sweet is this!
2. 105 classic vehicles participated in the Classic Car Caravan on Saturday morning October
20th starting at beautiful Reunion Golf Course and making their way to downtown Madison
with a police escort where they parked right on Main Street. A big thank you to the City of
Madison for closing Main Street for this event!
3. 270 kids attended the free magic show on Saturday in the school auditorium performed by
local magician Dorian LaChance. A special appearance during the magic show by Star Wars
characters Darth Vader and several Storm Troopers had all the kids screaming with
excitement. It's really all about the kids!
4. 482 classic vehicles from every decade representing some of the finest art on wheels from
Mississippi and surrounding states were on display on Saturday at the event in downtown
Madison. A new record for the Scarecrow event!
5. More than 13,000 spectators attended this truly awesome event on Saturday and none went
away disappointed. Another attendance record and once again making this one of Mississippi's
largest outdoor events!
A big thank you is in order to all the volunteers that contributed to the success of this event.
Members of the Mississippi Classic Cruisers Car Club, Madison The City employees
including the Mayor's office, Chamber of Commerce, Junior Ambassadors, Senior
Ambassadors, Police & Fire Departments, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, local Boy Scout
Troop 9, BankPlus employees, all the event sponsors, SIDS and Hope Hollow volunteers and
countless others donated thousands of hours to make this event a success. This is truly a
community wide event for which we thank you.
Planning for the 2013 Scarecrow event has already started and will once again be something
very special as we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Scarecrow Cruise & Car
Show. Several photos taken at the event as well as a listing of the award winners are shown
on the pages that follow.

Drive Your Classic Car in the Madison Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 1, 2012!
The Madison Christmas Parade is always a lot of fun with
thousands of spectators lining the streets to watch the beautiful
floats, marching bands, horses, civic groups and classic cars.
The parade will stage in the parking lot of Ridgecrest Baptist
Church on Old Canton Road across the street from the Madison
Airport. Staging will start at 8:00am and the roads will be
closed to traffic at 8:30am. When you arrive in the staging area
tell the persons directing traffic that you are with the
Mississippi Classic Cruisers and they will direct you accordingly. The parade will start at 9am
sharp. It will then take about 30 more minutes before the Mississippi Classic Cruisers are
allowed to enter the parade. There will be 40 to 50 classic cars in our group and we line up
with by the age of the cars with the oldest car going first. The parade will take just over an
hour to complete. If for some reason you experience car trouble the police will allow you out
of the parade onto a side street. All parade participants are asked not to throw candy during
the parade. Bring the kids, grand kids and your favorite squeeze to this year's Madison
Christmas Parade. You are sure to have a GREAT time! For more information contact MCC
members Tom Phillips at 601-259-5248 or [email protected] or Louis Oursler at 601-5735873 or [email protected].
Also, Immediately after the parade for those that would like to meet for lunch we will meet at
McAlister's Deli on Main Street in Madison. You actually pass by their store during the
parade so all you have to do is double back.
Driving in the Madison Christmas Parade is one of the funnest things you will ever do in your
classic car!
