A spectacular venue for your wedding ceremony, as well as a unique backdrop for

Thank you for your enquiry regarding your wedding/civil partnership at Dan-yr-Ogof,
the National Showcaves Centre for Wales.
Wedding ceremonies are usually held in a section of Cathedral Cave known as the ‘Dome of
St Paul’s’. Here, two large waterfalls cascade 40 feet into a magnificent underground lake.
(Weddings can also be held in the smaller cave, Dan-yr-Ogof, if accessibility is an issue for
yourselves or your guests.)
Before a booking can be taken for your wedding day, a wedding preview visit is essential.

On making a booking we will require a non-refundable deposit of 50%. The balance will be due
4 weeks prior to the date of your wedding. Our fee includes the hire of the cave, candles, silk
flowers, and dedicated wedding personnel to ensure your ceremony runs smoothly.
To hire Cathedral Cave for your ceremony is £800. To hire Dan-yr-Ogof Cave is £700.
We allow 1½ hours for the ceremony and photographs. (Any time over this will be charged
at £150.00 per half hour.)
A personal choice of music before and after the ceremony can be requested (the music you
provide must be on a CD). As your wedding will be a civil ceremony, no religious music can
be played, and no prayers may be said during the ceremony.
Due to the nature of the caves, Cathedral Cave can hold 38 guests, and for Dan-yr-Ogof Cave
the number permitted is 20.
Please note, for legal reasons, the cave cannot be closed to the public during the ceremony.
The best time to hold your wedding will vary with the season – please ask us so we can advise
you further.
The cave may become wet, and the hill slippery after heavy rain, so in the interests of safety,
we insist that everyone in the wedding party wears flat, sensible shoes.
The National Showcaves Centre for Wales is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and
also a National Nature Reserve, and therefore we do not allow confetti anywhere on the complex!
Should any be used, a clean-up charge of £150.00 will be incurred.
After your wedding view, and the completion of your booking, it will be necessary for you to
speak to our local Registrar who can be contacted on 01597 827468. (The Registrar requires
separate payment, so please enquire when contacting them).
