GENERAL INFORMATION
Playground Circuits:
These playground circuits are created to promote healthy active living lifestyles in
elementary school students. The circuits are designed to begin easily and gradually
become more challenging. Each circuit is associated with a current player for the
Saskatchewan Roughriders, they are as follows:
(1) Lance Frazier
(2) Chris Getzlaf
(3) Darian Durant
(4) Wes Cates
(5) Robb Bagg
(6) Luca Congi
(7) Gene Makowsky
(8) Jordan Cisco
(9) Weston Dressler
(10) Chris Best
Each circuit is also assigned a ‘yards value’ which will be used in the student
evaluation portion.
Purpose:
The purpose of using the Saskatchewan Roughriders is to promote provincial pride.
Students will relate to this professional football team and be able to apply it to their
classroom curriculum. The girls vs. boys game associated with the playground circuits
will also challenge students mathematically. Furthermore, teachers will also have the
opportunity to develop related topics of study through this package. Students will be
able to add to their knowledge of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, football in general,
and foster their study in mathematics.

STUDENT EVALUATION
1. Each circuit will be completed for the duration of one week.
2. The circuits will be completed twice a day, once during the morning recess and
once during afternoon recess.
3. At the end of the day, the team captains will calculate the proportion of group
participation. (Teachers may opt to have participants initial the days they participate
in the chart provided on p. 6)
4. Each team will begin at the 10 yards line.
5. At the end of each day, whichever team has the highest proportion of participation
will advance their place keeper (helmet cut out) according to the value of the circuit
completed.
For example, if Circuit #1 was completed, the team will advance 1 yard.
If Circuit #2 was completed, the team will advance 2 yards.
6. Whichever team reaches their end zone first wins a group party.
FURTHER APPLICATIONS
Teachers can conduct a study of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and ask students
to answer questions about each player based on the information provided in the
biographies.

10,14 and 15…had four defensive tackles and an interception in week 18…finished the regular season with 38
defensive tackles, a fumble recovery and a team high five interceptions…was named a CFL West Division allstar.
CAREER: Started 17 regular season games and West Semi-Final in 2008 at halfback…had two defensive
tackles, two special teams tackles and an interception in week 2…had three defensive tackles and an
interception in week 3…had five defensive tackles and an interception in week 4…had four defensive tackles in
West Semi-Final…finished the season with 37 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, a fumble recovery
and a team high five interceptions…started nine regular season games at halfback in 2007…also started both

recoveries…also returned 12 punts for 282 yards and a touchdown…as a junior he tallied 49 tackles, eight
pass knockdowns, and two tackles for losses…was awarded the Whitney Gwynne Award from coaching staff
for unsung contributions.
PERSONAL: Lance spends his off-season in Delaware where he works as a substitute teacher and works at
the YMCA…he also trains high school college athletes for free as long as they keep up with his personal offseason training regiment.

PRO: Fourth season in Saskatchewan…acquired in trade from
Hamilton along with Corey Holmes for Jason Armstead in
August, 2007…originally drafted by Hamilton in the 5th round
(33rd overall) in 2007 CFL Canadian Draft.
2010: Started all 18 regular season games, both playoff games
and the Grey Cup game at wide receiver…had a season high
five catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns against Calgary
October 17…was named CFL Canadian Player of the Week in
week 16…finished the regular season with 55 receptions for 946
yards and five touchdowns…had nine catches for 120 yards and
one touchdown in the playoffs…also had three catches for 22
yards in the Grey Cup game.
2009: Dressed in all 18 regular season games…started 13 games, the West Final and the Grey cup
game at slotback…had five catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns and was named CFL
Canadian Player of the Week in week 5…had five catches for 53 yards and a touchdown in week
11…had five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown in week 15…finished the regular season with 41
receptions for 531 yards and six touchdowns.
CAREER: Dressed in five regular season games along with the West Semi-Final in 2008…started

community and worked on a bully prevention program with the Red Cross during the offseason…enjoys playing poker, golfing, watching movies and relaxing with family and friends.

PERSONAL: Weston spent most of the off-season in North Dakota but travelled back to Saskatchewan on
numerous occasions to take part in charity events around the province…he did spend most of his time focusing
on training and enjoys spending time with his family and friends when the opportunity arises.

2009: Dressed in all 18 regular season games….started 12
regular season games at guard…also started at guard in
West Final and Grey Cup.
CAREER: Dressed in six regular season games as a backup
offensive lineman in 2008…also spent one week on the
Riders four-man reserve list…dressed in three regular
season games as a backup offensive lineman in
2007…spent 11 regular season games and two playoff games on the Riders four-man reserve
list…made CFL and Rider debut in week 2.
COLLEGE: Spent the last two seasons with the University of Waterloo…recipient of the J.P. Metras
Award as the top offensive lineman…participated in the East-West Shrine Game in 2007…was
selected a CIS All-Canadian in each of his two seasons at Waterloo…was named Male Athlete of the
Year at Waterloo…transferred from Duke University after three seasons…dressed in 11 games for
Duke in 2004 at left tackle and left guard…dressed in three games during the 2003 season…on the
field for a total of 33 plays…dressed in four games during the 2002 season and was in for a total of
41 snaps…named to the Academic Honour Roll in 2003 and 2004….named most improved lineman
in 2002 in his sophomore season.
PERSONAL: Chris spent the past off-season in Regina with his wife Emily…works for
Stantec…enjoys working out, golfing, reading and watching movies.
