Also a novelist, Akhtar is the author of American Dervish, published in 2012 by Little, Brown and Company, published in 20 languages worldwide. He co-wrote and starred in The War Within (Magnolia Pictures), which was released internationally and nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay. As an actor, Akhtar also starred as “Neel Kashkari” in HBO’s adaptation of Andrew Ross Sorkin’s book Too Big to Fail. He studied at Brown University and Columbia University’s School of the Arts. ANGELA LITTLETON† (JORY) is an actress/ASL in- CELIA SCHAEFER* (EMILY) is a New York-based actress and delighted to be joining FUSION for the second time (The Other Place). Her work in New York City has included world premiere productions at Ensemble Studio Theatre, LAByrinth, Atlantic Theatre Company and Soho Think Tank, and she most recently appeared Off-Broadway in Right Down Broadway’s revival of Voices of Swords. Celia’s regional work includes Stageworks/Hudson’s critically acclaimed Tomorrow in the Battle, WTD Theater’s production of Virtue Desire Death and Foolishness which later transferred Off-Broadway as Chekhovek, the touring company of Chicago City Limits Improv, Arms and the Man at Long Island Stage and, most recently, Exit the King at the Living Room Theatre, Vermont. Her film work includes Detachment, Heterosexuals, Young Teamsters, and Little Pieces and she has appeared on television on NBC’s Conviction and CBS Daytime’s As the World Turns. Celia is from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and is an alumna of the North Carolina School of the Arts. Celia has been a proud member of the Actors Equity Association since 1987. working professionally as an actor and director for over thirty years. He served as the Artistic Director for both Smokebrush Theater and The Colorado Actors’ Theater. He has performed a variety of roles in theaters across the country including the Public Theater in New York, the St. Louis Repertory Company, the Magic Theater in San Francisco, the Mark Taper Forum, and the Los Angeles Theater Center where he was an Artistic Associate for seven years. He was a founding member of two theater companies, The Old World Theater Company in Chicago and The Noe Street Theater in San Francisco. RICHARD K. HOGLE (SCENIC DESIGNER) is FUSION’s Resident Scenic and Lighting Designer. Since 2005, Richard has designed over 35 productions for FUSION. Richard is the Chair, Performing Arts, at Albuquerque Academy. Past professional credits include designs for A Contemporary Theater, Albuquerque Civic Light Opera, The Bathhouse Theater, Camino Real Productions, Empty Space Theatre, Seattle Civic Light Opera, and Theatre Work. BRENT STEVENS (SOUND DESIGNER) has been FUSION’s Resident Sound Designer since the first season. Brent is the Program Director for Classical 95.5 KHFM and can be heard weekdays from 6 – 10 am. Before returning to New Mexico, Brent was a resident sound engineer at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and the Los Angeles Theatre Center and worked in Public Relations at MCA INC. He engineers recordings and live broadcasts of local classical music ensembles including The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus, New Mexico Philharmonic, Albuquerque Youth Symphony, Albuquerque Chamber Soloists and others. Brent is married to FUSION’s Stage Manager Maria Lee Schmidt; they have two teenage children who have no interest in theatre or the performing arts. ROBYN PHILLIPS (PROPERTIES MASTER) is FUSION’s Resident Properties Master. She has worked on 53 shows since 2003 and considers The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Red and The 39 Steps to be her favorites. She received her theatre training from Idaho State University and the University of New Mexico.
