On Sunday March 7th, at Montclair State University Floyd Hall Arena 2 Benefit Ice Hockey games were played by the Port Authority Police Ice Hockey Team. The first was against the Vineland SledStars. A team of handicapped hockey players from young to old. The PAPD team, includ ing 2 of our members had quite a tough time playing as these athletes do. They went into the game knowing they would be creamed. They had a blast and came away achy and ready to get on their feet again. They also came away with an understanding of what these handicapped athletes have achieved in this tough sport. The main event was a game against the NJ Devils alumni team. This team plays benefits throughout the state and has played the PAPD Team many times. The PAPD Team is lead by member, Captain Nicholas Tagarel/i, of the PAPD (Newark Airport). He spends months setting up these benefits and does a great job. Team mem ber Vincent Peteroy, (PAPD, Holland Tunnel) made some great plays against the Devils and scored 2 goals against the accomplished team. Nick and Vinny accepted a $500 donation check from Executive Board member Sebastian D'Amato after the game.
