PBIS NEWS
Students in all grades at Roosevelt School can be recognized by staff members on a
daily basis for being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe . When teachers or other staff
members see students doing things that support Roosevelt’s School values, they may
give the a RAMStar (a.k.a. Ramscash, RAMBuck). Students can use these RAMStars to
“purchase” various incentives and treats, like Homework passes and Homework
Rainchecks. They can also collect these and enter them into a prize drawing that
happens every other week. Pictured above are a group of Junior High students who
chose one of our more popular items—Lunch with 2 Friends— as a prize earned with
their RAMStars. Each girl was able to pick two friends to have lunch separately from
their class, featuring a nicely set table, extra treats, and the opportunity to watch
videos/listen to music during lunch.

A positive, supporting environment is a place where learning can happen more
effectively. Unfortunately, with the rise of social media, and the popularity of
“roasting” one another, students can lose sight of the need for us to be kind and
friendly towards one another.
In an effort to promote a more positive school climate, we will be recognizing Random
Acts of Kindness (RAKs) over the next month. In 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes, BOTH
students and staff can recognize each other’s kind acts by filling out a small ticket
describing the act, and putting it in any color-coded basket in classrooms. Each day,
the first period teachers will draw 4 tickets and will read them aloud (if they are
appropriate) to share the kindness. Our hope is that we can recognize between two
and four acts per classroom per day.
I have read this week’s newsletter.

A large thermometer for each grade level will be displayed in
each hallway. The RAKs will be counted, and will display the
“warmth” we are feeling. Our goal is to chart 200 RAKs in 7th
and 8th grade, and 150 RAKs in 6th grade by February 10. If
students reach their goal, they will earn 45 minutes of free gym
time along with a “fun room” activity!

BRING YOUR BOX TOPS TO SCHOOL!
CONGRATULATIONS DECEMBER STUDENTS OF
THE MONTH
Each month, school staff selects students who go
above and beyond in demonstrating Roosevelt
expectations of respect, responsibility, and safety
as the Students of the Month. Students receive a
certificate and a small token.

Cutting off those box top symbols—like the
one pictured —and sending them to school
is a very easy way to help our school raise
funds for student incentives and materials. Many products you use at
home carry this label. Thanks in advance!

Arriving at School
Please help your students develop good habits of
attendance and punctuality.
All students are expected to arrive on time every
day. Students are to arrive between 8:35 and 8:45
AM.
Students are required to be in uniform each school
day. Students out of uniform are not admitted to
class. They can occasionally borrow uniform clothes
from school if parents cannot bring clothes from
home.
