The New Generation
of streamlined Grandezza power boats now available with a stunning flagship, 40 FLY.
The new generation of Grandezza has grown in four years
to a comprehensive range of premium boats. The collection
now includes eight models in the size range from 23 to 40
feet. A new line of sporty day cruisers, introduced for summer 2014 feature the 27 S, the 33 S and the new flagship of
the collection the 40 FLY.
The design of the new generation in the collection is
focused particularly on stylish, but practical design, clear
space solutions and excellent driving characteristics. The
scope and level of the fixed equipment are beyond compare.
High-quality interior materials have been carefully selected
to meet the requirements of boating: they are comfortable,
durable and stylish.
In all models, the use of space serves the boat owner.
The selected solutions and details are challenging traditional
patterns and offer a fresh approach to usability.
The brightness and lightness are essential components of
all models. Large windows allow first-class visibility, which
increases comfort, but it is also an important factor in terms
of safety. Good seaworthiness and driving capacity are evident in the criteria for a good boat. In Grandezza boats,
they have always been top notch. Good driving characteristics mean an enjoyable driving experience, but safety and
economy are also featured in the Grandezza. The control
environment is designed to meet the driver’s wishes, controls
and instrumentation are well presented and easy to handle.
New boat trading should start on time so that all the
customer’s needs for equipping the boat can be met. Come

For the manufacturer of Grandezza boats, Oy Finn-Marin Ltd,
the New Year is more festive than usual. Namely our operations started 25 years ago, before Grandezza we started manufacturing another well-known brand of our company, Finnmaster boats.
Throughout our history, we have made well known the
Finnish boat building expertise which is based on know-how
transferred from generations to generations, and on the high
quality of our products. We will celebrate the results of this
work, together with our customers and partners at the Helsinki
International Boat Show in February.
Over the years, there have been challenging periods, such as
in particular the recession in the 1990s. The important guiding
principle of Oy Finn-Marin Ltd has been in continuous development and strong product development, which have helped
us over the challenging years. Since the early 2000s, we had
already achieved a strong market share in our home country
Finland, but also in other parts of the Nordic countries. A very
important role belonged to the Finnmaster boats sales and marketing agreement signed with Yamaha Motor Scandinavia in
2003 which is still in force in the Nordic countries.
The design for Grandezza started in 2003 and the first model, Grandezza 31, was launched in 2005. Grandezza became
a success right away, and the new model was very quickly joined by newer models. In 2011, into the market, came the first
Grandezza of the new generation, which also turned out to be
a Finnish success story of family boats like its predecessor. So
far, two representatives of the new generation, Grandezza 33
OC and Grandezza 40 FLY, have become exhibition winners
in the Helsinki International Boat Show.
We are often asked about our company’s success factors.
One such factor is our strategy for rapid response to product
development issues. We are able to offer, on a short schedule,
solutions that customers have wanted from our boats. In addition, we have purposefully developed our methods of production
at each of our three factories. This has enabled us to provide
our products at a good price-quality ratio.
In addition to the Nordic countries, Grandezza has received an excellent reception in Central Europe. In particular,
the strong start of Brunnert-Grimm AG in the Swiss market
encourages us to continue to expand our network in Central
Europe.
In Finland and our company’s domicile in Kokkola, we are
proud of the high quality of our work. Grandezza is performing successfully exactly where customers appreciate the quality, convenience and enjoyment of boating. We are grateful for
their confidence in us, and we will listen in the future carefully
to the feedback that our customers give us.

very beginning, the use of space with fixed couches, eyecatching design and interior decor options emphasizing
individuality. The end result is sealed with unique quality
assurance.
Development of Grandezza has been taken forward by
the unquenchable passion of the owners to make the boats
even better, as well as the desire to fulfill the customers’ wishes.
In 2011, it was time at the Helsinki Boat Show to present
to the public the Grandezza 27 OC, the new generation of
Grandezza. The boat immediately became a sales success in
the Nordic countries, which confirmed the owners’ view that
for succeeding, it must be possible to offer to customers something really new, whether it is design or technology. This
way of thinking is also represented by the latest flagships of
Grandezza – the Grandezza 40 CA and Grandezza 40 FLY.
Today, Oy Finn-Marin Ltd has three production plants,
two in Kokkola and one in Kalajoki. The company employs about 120 employees, and 80 percent of its production is
exported. In addition to the Nordic countries, the company
has expanded in recent times its dealership network to the
rest of Europe.
Good sales figures and numerous test victories and exhibition successes show that the Grandezza boats are pioneers
of family boating across Europe.
The launching of Grandezza 27 OC
in February 2011, was the starting
point for the reform of the entire
product range.
The raised cockpit dinette is at the same level as the driver seat,
giving a better social space and a great external view for everyone.
Due to fixed double berths, accommodation is easy and does not
require additional arrangements, different than what is normal in
this class of boats.

and high quality
Finnish boat building has a centuries-long tradition of expertise and experience passed from one generation to another. Today, successful Finnish boat builders combine a long
tradition, uncompromising professional pride and timeless
design with the latest technologies and innovations. From
this success, these factors are also born the new generation
of Grandezza boats.
The foundation to the success story of Grandezza boats
was created over 25 years ago in 1990, when Osmo Roukala and Jarmo Kinnunen founded Oy Finn-Marin Ltd in the
Finnish boat building core region of Kokkola.
The Finnmaster boats manufactured by the company
were extremely well received and in the 2000s, the owners
decided, in addition to product development, to invest st-

strong brand name of Oy Finn-Marin Ltd, and an indication
of the high quality of Finnish work. Both brands are characterized by good driving characteristics, practicality and
elegance.

New generation award winners
Boat industry experts have given the new generation model
range of Grandezza the best possible tribute by selecting
Grandezza twice in a row as the winner of the Helsinki International Boat Show.
In 2013, Northern Europe’s largest boat show declared
the winner of the travel motorboat series to be the Grandezza 33 OC. The following year, the Grandezza 40 FLY achieved the same title. According to the jury, the 33 OC-boat has
all that is needed for a traveling boat.
“Grandezza is a high quality and stylish boat with a successful space solution. Two large sleeping cabins, an excellent washroom and living areas that can be converted into
more sheltered or a more open area, thanks to a large sunroof and easy to use canopy, this boat is highly functional,”
the voters stated in their reasoning.
In the Grandezza 40 FLY, a great deal of innovations has
been achieved with small changes. “The floor plan is good
and the division of space, as well as the order, are just right.
Everyone can find their own place and no space is wasted.
The Grandezza 40 FLY is also competitive in international
comparisons,” it was stated in the selection reasoning.

Terry Stenton takes Grandezza
to new waters in Europe
Internationalization of Grandezza took a major step forward
when Terry Stenton started in the spring of 2013 with the task
of building a dealer network in Europe for both the company’s
brands, Grandezza and Finnmaster. Born in Yorkshire, England and currently living in Spain with his family, Terry is a
Marine experienced professional in the boating industry. He
entered the industry in the mid 1970s when setting up a company manufacturing boat trailers.
“I feel it is a privilege to work with a reliable company like
Finn-Marin and to be able to be involved in creating something
new. Finn-Marin differs from other boat manufacturers in a great way with its custom of listening to users and, on the basis of
the feedback, developing better and better boats,” Stenton says.
”Grandezza caught my interest
right from the very first moment”
Terry Stenton has had an extensive career in demanding international tasks in the boat market. In 1981, however, he took
three year’s distance from the daily hectic working life. “At the
time I bought a 53-foot sailboat. After nearly a year of thorough
modification, I sailed with my wife and our 8-and 11-year-old
children from England through the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. We spent almost three years sailing in different corners
of the Caribbean from our home base in St Lucia,” Stenton
explained.
Upon his return to England and the boat business, Terry
launched a new type of motor boat trailer. Then in 1987, he
took up the offer to move to the service of US Cruisers Inc., to
a management position in international sales. The next time his
tasks changed was in 1994, when he started as an independent
agent for Cobalt Boats and Cruisers Yachts.
“I came across Grandezza for the first time at the Stockholm Boat Show in 2011 while still working for Cruisers
Yachts. I thought that Grandezza was the best 27-foot boat I
had ever seen,” said Stenton. “When I met the representatives
of Grandezza the following year at the Helsinki Boat Show my
collaboration with Cruisers Yachts had ended. Since Grandezza had made a great impression on me, we continued discussions on cooperation with the obvious consequences,” Terry
explained the early stages of co-operation with Finn-Marin.
market area.”
Terry believes that the success of Grandezza in the Nordic
countries will create good conditions for the boat to conquer
new markets elsewhere in Europe. “I bring with me for more
than 25 years of experience in the European and Middle East
markets. On this basis, I would venture to say that the Grandezza has an excellent opportunity to reach a whole new class
of customers who want high quality from a boat, as well as something new and different from a mass produced product. For
example, our dealer in Switzerland has been very pleased with
the interest that has been raised for the Grandezza after the fair
held in September in Friedrichshafen.”
In addition to Grandezza, Terry sees in Finnmaster, the
other brand of Finn-Marin, a lot of potential in Europe. “Pilot 7.0 and 8.0 have been well received, and T8 was chosen
as a winner in the category of Performance & Sportsboats at
London in 2015. Similarly to Grandezza, from Finnmaster
can be expected long-term growth in the European market,”
says Terry.

With decades of experience, Terry highlights the typical characteristics of Grandezza.
“Custom made boats are of high quality, and the finished
details offer to the owners of Grandezza comfort, ease of use
and safety. Excellent body solutions ensure high performance
even under the hardest speeds. Engine compartment soundproofing has been carried out in a way that makes the boat
incredibly quiet.”
“Grandezza models have succeeded in developing a number of creative solutions. From this, great merit belongs to the
duo owners, i.e., to Osmo Roukala and Jarmo Kinnunen, and
to their long-term experience and know-how. Quick response
to customer demands also allows for expansion of Grandezza

Entrance to the boat takes place through a wide swim platform, in which are located also storage lockers for the fenders and other fastening equipment. Berthing from the bow
is facilitated by the sturdy bow rails equipped with a gate.
The driver's own sliding door exit to the wide and deep
side deck together with the optional Aquamatic Joystick
control system, enables an easy and safe berthing and fastening, if necessary, even only by the driver.
The dynamic performance and manageability of the

module with wetbar are available for the flybridge.
Inside, the 40 FLY is identical to the 40 CA with: the
cockpit/saloon located in the middle on the ground floor, a
galley equipped with modern facilities, a bathroom and two
sleep cabins with spacious double beds.
The spacious cockpit/saloon operates as a cozy living
room, passenger compartment, dining and entertainment
area of the boat. On the port side of the saloon there is a big
dinette suitable for eight persons, and on the opposite side is
the set of cabinets for cutlery, dishes and the wetbar. The TV
with an elevator feature, icemaker, drink fridge are available
as optional equipment.
The couches are disposed in such a way that all passengers have an excellent view out of the boat, even while traveling. The dinette may be converted to a berth (optional), so
the saloon will transform into a third sleeping cabin.
The back wall of the saloon is a four-leaf stainless steel
framed glass wall detail, opening of which creates together
with the solid L-couch of the rear open space, a large unified
space even for a party taking place with even a larger number
of people.
The luxurious cabins
ensure a good night's sleep
The full beam master cabin is located in amidships. The
large frame windows on both sides of the cabin bring light
and panoramic views of the surroundings. The king-size bed
equipped with separate bedside tables has a spring mattress.

The divan on the port side, as well as the spacious cabinet
facilities, make the cabin comfortable and functional.
In the fore cabin is in turn a wide double bed, which due
to its scissor-type solution can be divided into two separate
beds. In addition, in the fore cabin is seating for dressing up,
two spacious closets and plenty of storage space on the shelves and under the bed. A stylish make up table completes
the package.
The interior colors, patterns and materials are harmoniously stylish and represent the latest international trends.
The wooden parts are satin waxed walnut wood and the
upholstery is Silvertex fabric.
In the well-equipped galley you can
easily prepare many wonderful meals
The operational center of the boat housing is formed by
a spacious and bright galley, which is placed in the boat's
bow section underneath the windscreen. From the galley
are access ways to the deck saloon, cockpit, the front cabin,
the toilet and the shower facilities as well as to the master
cabin. The solution has enabled a diversely equipped and
well-functioning galley of the boat. In addition to abundant
cabinets and a fridge, there are two sinks, a multi-function
oven including grill and micro, a ceramic hob, cooker hood
and spacious work top.
The entrance to the toilet and shower facilities is from
the galley department. The shower area is separated from
the toilet space with a hinged door and there is also a fixed

with the Predators, he was elected to be the team captain.
The player,
who has been trusted
In Nashville, Timonen was able to teach the new fans ice
hockey rules. At the end of the 2007 season, he was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers, to the city where people live
and breathe the sport.
“We enjoyed the life with our family in Nashville, and our
children were born there, but it was more like the town of
country music and American football. Philadelphia is a real
sport center where ice hockey has a strong position. Sure, the
pressures there were also tougher.” For Timonen, common

Although Timonen, who has made a one year contract
extension with the Flyers and is facing his last NHL season,
he is preparing for the starting series with the same rigor as
always. Not least because Timonen has not yet achieved
a Stanley Cup and the Flyers have, on the basis of its new
composition, realistic possibilities for raising the glass for a
celebration.
”The choice fell to Grandezza
not only because of the
recommendations, but also
because the boat is domestic
and really good looking.”
Grandezza 33 OC is waiting
for the NHL pensioner
Although there is still one long season ahead, Timonen, together with his family has directed his thoughts already to the
time beyond his career.
“In the NHL the game pace is intense, and every night
one faces the world’s top players. Therefore, there area really
very few holidays. When we start in the fall, the next two days
off may happen not earlier than during Christmas. After that
there is only a 3-4 days All-Star break in February and in the
end the summer break at the end of the season. Many times
I have been on a game trip, in a hotel room at the same time
as the rest of the family has been celebrating at home one of
the children’s birthdays. That’s why it will feel great after my
playing career to get to do things together with my wife and
children,” Timonen says.
Boating is one of the hobbies with which Timonen is planning to spend time together closely with the family. “When we
bought our summer cottage on the beach of Lake Kallavesi,
the idea came to my mind immediately that we want to sail a
boat together. We had in the past a 6-meter boat but it become
too small as the family grew. We decided that now, at the end
of my hockey career it is the time to buy a bigger boat suitable
for the family.”
Timonen started calling boating experts and to seek information on the web together with his wife Johanna. “From
several places we were recommended Grandezza. On YouTube, we saw that the boat has also won numerous awards. In
the end we had two options. The choice fell to Grandezza not
only because of the recommendations, but also because the
boat is domestic and really good looking.”
“To the decision contributed also an extremely fine and
good customer service. It was a pleasure to go through all the
things that are associated with the purchase of a boat. We got
a lot of useful information, and for example, a joystick was
acquired because I wanted an easy control, especially when
beaching.” Timonen laughs that the Grandezza was supposed
to originally be a retirement gift for the celebration of the end
of my NHL career. “But, the games will continue for a year,
but at least I have had enough time to get the first experience of the joys of my retirement years. We have boated with
Grandezza in the adjacent waters, but I can already say that
we got what we wanted. Kallavesi offers a great setting for
boating and boating on Grandezza is easy to enjoy.”

to both the NHL clubs is the fact that he has been playing in
them in a central role. Of course, for the player it is important
to feel that he is trusted and that the game minutes accumulate in abundance.
Statistics tell their own language of the importance of Timonen for the team. During his career in the NHL, he has
played before the last season, 1092 regular season matches
28
and finished in them the powers 117 + 454 = 571.
In addition to the club teams, Timonen has made a brilliant career on the Finnish national team. He has four Olympic medals, a silver from Turin and a bronze from Nagano,
Vancouver and Sochi. In the World Cup Timonen has one
silver medal and in the World Championships, he has slaved
for three silver medals.
“Boating is still our relatively new
hobby. With this boat we can go to,
say, the Savonlinna Opera Festival”
Kimmo Timonen plans.

Kokkola
- a city risen from the sea
Kokkola is a charming seaside town of about 47 000 inhabitants, where there is a genuine old
sea town atmosphere. The guests arriving at the town should definitely check out, for example,
Neristan, the old city of Kokkola. Kokkola has developed in recent years, into a center of
provincial trade, with a wide range of marketing services. For boaters a specific target is the unique
lighthouse of Tankar.
The city founded by King Gustav II Adolf in 1620, is the bilingual center of the province of Central Ostrobothnia. Out
of the city’s inhabitants, 84 per cent are Finnish speakeing
and 13 per cent are Swedish speaking.
The specialty of the coast of the gulf of Bothnia is the
land uplift, and at the beginning of our era Kokkola and its
surroundings were still seabed. The land rises in Kokkola
now 88 centimeters a century.
When today day one stands on the Market Square of
Kokkola, one sees only a small channel, the city strait or
’Suntti’ which reminds one of Kokkolahti bay located on the
spot before. Over the centuries, the sea beach has withdrawn
just over a mile from the city center.
Vanhansatamanlahti Bay, opening from the mouth of
the city strait, is the stage of many events related to the history of the city. There was held, for example, the Halkokari
skirmish during the Crimean War in 1854. Today, is located
on the territory, among other things the beautiful and cozy
Meripuisto (Sea Park) and the exhibition area of the Housing Fair held in Kokkola. In the area of Vanhansatamanlahti Bay are also the yacht clubs GSF and Kokkolan Purjehtijat with their guest mooring areas. Along the bank of the
city strait or ’Suntti’ runs a light traffic passage along which
one can easily get to the city center at the Market Square.

tured in Finland and of other marine industry products are
made in this area.
In Kokkola has emerged also the Nordic region’s largest
concentration of inorganic chemistry with its many international companies. Kokkola Industrial Park (KIP) directly
employs about 2,000 people, and there are more than 60
companies in the area.
Kokkola has also developed into a versatile and attractive commercial center, the offering of which surprises the
first-timer with its versatility. Alongside shopping there is
plenty to do both for those hungry for cultural and physical activities. The cozy town centers have won nationwide
awards.
Clean and safe - Among other things, is the center of the
city of Kokkola, says the Director of the City Kari Moilanen. According to him, the comfortable and commercially
attractive downtown of Kokkola has been developed with
exceptionally broad cooperation. As a result of the cooperation, in department stores, customers are served by about 50
high-brand companies, and they are supported by a hundred
smaller specialty stores.
Wednesday night market in the Market Square is also
within the experience worthy of summer experiences. In the
site accumulates every week thousands of people to do business, meet friends and enjoy a different program.
Neristan of captivating stories
It is no coincidence that Mondo, one of the country’s most
prestigious tourism magazines, has already written twice in
a short period of time about Neristan, the old town of Kokkola. Kristiina Teerikangas, the Director of Matkailuoppaat
ry of Kokkola knows what is fascinating in Neristan.
Darkened evening, the sea and
miles of fires belong to the
Venetian celebrations of Kokkola.
32
The cozy town center of Kokkla has won national awards.
As to its zoning, Neristan differs very much from other old
towns in Finland. In the formula drawn up by J.P.Gäddan in
1665, the houses are built along the street and outbuildings
toward the back yard. The square position zoning plan makes Neristan an entity beautiful to look at which has as many
as 12 blocks.
According to Teerikangas, tourists have fallen in love
with the way history is alive and is concretely present in the
buildings and yards of Neristan as well as in the captivating
stories that tell of people’s life in the old town over the centuries.
In Neristan the original homes of sea captains, sailors,
artisans and merchants have survived with their inner courtyards. What’s more, the gates of many courtyards are also
open to tourists.
In addition to Neristan, the source of pride for the people of Kokkola is also the Tankar lighthouse island. The rugged and rocky Tankar was for hundreds of years a base for
seal hunters and fishermen. The rocky island risen from the
sea attracts thousands of visitors during the summer months
to enjoy the unique nature of the island, the landmarks of
which in addition to the lighthouse are a church, a pilot station, old fishing huts and a seal hunting museum.
The Tankar lighthouse island serves its guests even in a
more diverse way, when the city of Kokkola obtains access
to the property of the pilot station. There, tourists can find
at their disposal for example, a large kitchen and a kitchenette, a spacious living room, and a sauna. Café Tankar is
open daily from early June to late August. Moreover, at the
grill house one can grill picnic sausages while taking in the
beautiful sea landscape.
Independent boaters have the opportunity to anchor in
the visitors’ harbor protected by a breakwater. The island’s
port has 15 anchorages (rear mounting). The depth of the
port is 3.0 - 3.5 meters. The outside waters of the entrance
route are rocky. In the island one can stay overnight in the
Archipelago type accommodation facilities and in the pilot
station.
Venetians the entire nation’s carnival
The Venetians of Kokkola, genuine and authentic, is the
actual entire nation’s carnival, which is held every last weekend of August. The event has a long history. In the wealthy
villa communities of the Gulf of Bothnia in the late 1800s,
mainly in the area of Kokkola, was born ”the tradition of
celebration of Venetian night.” Initially, any day of August
was good enough for the celebration. The most important
thing was that the celebration was scheduled for the darkening summer nights.
The Venetian night comprised of the varied illuminations of the villas, burning of bonfires, lanterns and tar pots
and even fireworks. The name of the party can be seen as
referring to the fireworks. The forms of the Venetian celebration gradually stabilized, and the feast began to be celebrated
fixed on the last Saturday in August. As in August-September, the villa residents moved to their city apartments, the celebration and the name of the Venetian nights became fixed
as finishing period of the villa season.
In recent years, the Venetian celebration has expanded
to the length of the whole weekend. This is the biggest annual public event in Kokkola collecting tens of thousands of
people. In addition to the traditional Venetian celebration of
the beach villas, in the city are also organized concerts and
sporting events. This year, the Venetian celebrations will be
held 29th to 31st August.
For the boaters arriving in Kokkola, guest moorings can
be found, in addition to Tankar Lighthouse Island, also in
Mustakari in the Vanasatamalahti Bay and in Elbasta as well
as in Yksipihlaja in the guest mooring of Sahaniemi.

1 kg entrecote
1/2 dl olive oil
6-8 cloves of garlic
Dijon mustard
fresh ground black and white pepper
Maldon salt
probe
Remove the scales, grease and any bones from the salmon fillet.
Cut the salmon fillet into four parts, and season with salt and
pepper. Roast the salmon pieces in a pan from just skin side
until crispy and almost cooked. Turn the salmon pieces around
and fry for a while on their stomach. Cook in 180-degree oven
for approx. 4-5 minutes. Salmon must be reddish inside, not
raw, but moist and soft.
Sauce:
1 cup sour milk
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons capers
1 cup chopped dill
freshly ground black pepper
salt
Mix all ingredients together and serve the sauce with cold
salmon.
Recommended wine for the salmon:
White wine, Penfolds
Rawson’s Retriet Riesling
Recommended wine for the meat:
Red wine, Saint-Emilion
France
Remove the membranes from the surface of the meat. Squeeze
the garlic cloves into olive oil. Brush the meat with garlic oil.
Grill the meat on all sides and brush again with oil, mustard
and spices. Wrap the meat in foil and insert the probe into the
middle from the side, so that you can view it. Let it cook on the
grill with the lid closed with a low fire until the meter shows 54
degrees. Remove the meat from the grill and allow it to stand
for a moment before cutting into steaks, so the liquids will remain inside the meat. Sprinkle Maldon salt on the surface of
the cut pieces, so the meat will also be seasoned in the middle.
Before you start grilling, take the meat out of the fridge in good
time, to avoid any drainage of muscle liquids into the grill, and
to help the meat to remain tasty.
Bearnaise sauce:
2 small chopped shallots
2 dl white wine
3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon chervil
1 tablespoon tarragon
1 tbsp flat leaf parsley or parsley
4 pieces of egg yolks
200 g of butter
Tabasco
fresh ground white pepper
salt
Add to saucepan the chopped onions, white wine, vinegar
and herb studs. Boil the broth on the stove over low fire until
half of the broth is boiled off. Strain the broth into a thickbottomed flat saucepan. Melt the butter in a saucepan until it
flows. Add the egg yolks to the white wine broth, constantly
stirring with a whisk. Allow the saucepan to stand on mild
heat, moving the saucepan to the side now and then. If the
egg yolks are cooked too fast, they will be lumpy. Stir constantly until the mixture is precipitated a bit. Add the melted
butter into the egg yolk foam in a thin strip, with vigorous
stirring. Add the fine chopped herb leaves and mix. Season
with pepper, drops of Tabasco and salt to taste.

Unique Quality
Assurance
Test drives and sprinkling ensure the high quality of Grandezza boats.
Grandezza boats combine high-quality design, based on customers’ needs and requirements, as well as boat building expertise evolved over generations. Before leaving the factory
every Grandezza goes through a specific quality assurance.
It guarantees that Grandezza offers its owners from the very
first moments the best possible user experience.
In Kalajoki, Grandezza boats have been manufactured
since 2007 in the most modern boat factory of the Nordic
countries. The boats completed in the production lines will
finally go through a multi-stage testing and trial program.
Among other things, a test pool is used, in which the newly
completed Grandezza is sprinkled, thus ensuring the water
tightness of the boat. In addition the pool allows the test run
of the engines, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. “Testing of the new Grandezza in such a testing pool is unique
in the quality assurance of Finnish boat building,” says the
Managing Director of Oy Finn-Marin Ltd Osmo Roukala.
Quality of work
is about the attitude
When presenting the operation of the production lines of
Grandezza boats, Sakari Latvakoski, the Production Manager of the Kalajoki factory highlights the importance of quality thinking of each employee.
“Quality is about the attitude of individual employee.
It is important that all employees want to do high-quality
work. When the importance of quality is understood, it also
affects the well-being and job satisfaction. And when these
two things are okay, that too, impacts positively in the quality
of the work.”
“Our main strength is low turnover of staff which ensures the Grandezzas have been built by a long line of experienced professionals. When new employees come to the house,
the experienced staff has an important role to train them to
be Grandezza professionals.”
According to Latvakoski, it is also important that the
work is done correctly right away. When every employee
does his or her share as well as possible, the customer will
receive a quality product and there will be no interferences
in the operation of the production lines. We are using a celltype production line, which is ideally suited for the manufacture of high-quality Grandezzas. Employees specialize on
the processes of their own cell process, which deepens the
expertise of the employees.
The customers
are given ready to use
Grandezza boats are manufactured by experienced long line
professionals, says Production Manager Sakari Latvakoski.
38
The boats being completed on the production lines have a
quality monitoring card on which are recorded the checks
made in the different stages of the line, as well as any possible
deviations. On the basis of the card, the finisher checks that
all the steps have been properly performed and possible deviations have been corrected.
“Finally, the boat is sprinkled and test-driven without
propellers in the test pool. After all the smallest details are in
place, we fill the correct fluid levels and oil and we adjust the
controls. Thanks to these measures, a ready to use Grandezza can be delivered to the customer,” says Latvakoski. “Also,
continuous development of the factories own operations is
one part of the quality work of the factory. For example, we
assess and develop our working methods all the time. Every
time we come up with a method of how we can do something better, we will use the method.”
-The quality assurance of Grandezzas
culminates in the test drive and sprinkling
performed in the test pool, which is unique
in the Finnish boat building.

Managing Director of Brunnert-Grimm Peter Grimm.
For Swiss Boat Dealer,
Grandezza is the Perfect Match
An open ear for suggestions and customer wishes makes Grandezza the ideal partner on
Alpine lakes for renowned Swiss boat dealer Brunnert-Grimm.
The lavish marina on Lake Constance at the foot of the Swiss
Alps lies empty and quiet. The boats have been moved into
winter storage in October-November, and will be touching
water again around Easter.
But behind the scenes, customers’ boats are being prepared
for the upcoming season and new boats are arriving from the
manufacturers in France, the US and Kokkola, Finland. Since
July 2013, Brunnert-Grimm has been representing Grandezza
for customers in eastern Switzerland and southern Germany.
There’s always a certain risk involved in taking over the
representation of a new brand or company. But with Grandezza
I can only confirm that we made the completely right decision,
says Peter Grimm, one of three brothers running the family
business founded in 1887 by the uncle of their grandfather.
Input Accepted
Customization more
Important than Price
Still an Unknown Brand
During its long history, the company manufactured everything
from rowing boats to sailing boats and powerboats. In 1970,
Mr. Grimm’s father left boat building behind in order to focus
on importing and customization, the so called Swiss Finish.
- In those days, manufacturers were not so flexible, but
nowadays customization of the boats is normally done by
the manufacturer. That’s the main reason we started our
cooperation with Grandezza.
Besides beautiful boats and high quality, Grandezza’s
strength is the small company size enabling greater flexibility to
react to customer wishes. For Brunnert-Grimm’s customers, a
personalized vessel is more important than the price.
At Grandezza it’s easy to reach and give input to the responsible
person, says Mr. Grimm.
- With our company’s history, we’re not just a dealer of
boats. We know how to build them and we want to give our
input in order to improve the quality and customer acceptance.
It’s important that we have somebody to talk to who is ready to
listen and realize our suggestions.
A small detail is mostly enough. During our visit in
Kokkola we mentioned some wishes to our host. He picked
up his cell phone and asked the manufacturer if the changes
could be done. The answer was yes, at an extra cost of a few
hundred euros.
In Switzerland and Germany, Grandezza is still an unfamiliar
name.
- Most of our customers think it’s an Italian boat and might
be a little sceptical at first, but they trust our know-how.
At the moment, around 15 Grandezza boats are cruising
the lakes of this Alpine region, and Mr. Grimm thinks it’ll
take 3–4 years to establish the brand on the market. He is also
hoping to establish cooperation with dealers in other parts of
Switzerland within the upcoming year.
- Grandezza has a good size range of 25–40 feet with an
elegant but not too fancy or crazy design. With increasing size
the competition gets much stronger.

Near the Southern top of Norway in Åkrehamn, on the coast
of the Atlantic Ocean, is the ”floating boat show” of Åkra
Båt, Norway’s largest dealer of Grandezza. Currently, there
are three boats in the port ready for test runs.
“It is very important that guests can try out our great boats
in the right conditions, and that is at sea. It facilitates the buying decision a lot. Therefore, we keep boats available all the
time. We can also deliver the boat to the customer on short
notice,” Vikra added.
Åkra Båt, founded in 2006 is a part of Åkra Bilimport
AS, which has operated since 1965 as one of Norway’s largest Opel and Chevrolet dealers. Åkra Båt started boat sales
as a dealer of Finnmaster and Yamaha. In 2007, the company
introduced Grandezza to its range.
“We are very proud of the fact that we represent Grandezza boats in Norway,” Vikra says.
The Finnish origin
is a plus
Vikra has been involved from the beginning, and he has seen
over the years the development of Grandezza boats, as well as
the interest of the Norwegians as the brand has grown.
“Purchasing a boat is a relatively big investment and it
takes time before a new boat becomes successful in the market. However, we are pleased to note that people are more
and more familiar with Grandezza, which certainly in part
is due to the great prizes received by the boats. In addition,
the success of the boats in various tests has increased people’s
interest in them.”
According to Vikra, Norwegians appreciate in Grandezza
the special high quality and the combination of southern European design with reliable Finnish boat building traditions.

The Grandezza market share in Norway has increased in

“A modern boat like Grandezza attracts customers who

sure that the brand will increase its market share clearly
here, as well.”
Åkra Båt will also continue to be the dealer for Finnmaster. The sale of Finnmaster boats has been growing strongly
in Norway for the same reason as the Grandezza’s.
“Both are high-quality Finnish-made boats. They represent a new way of thinking and their models and designs are
modern.”
To the sea
at every opportunity
Helge Vikra has been working with boats for nearly ten years. His relationship with boating and the sea has not changed
over the years.
“I grew up by the sea and even today I live just a stone’s
throw from the Atlantic Ocean. The sea means to me a lot.
There, I can relax, and I hit the waters whenever I get a chance.”
Vikra has owned a number of boats during his life. The
first major boat was a Grandezza 31 OC. Now he’s trying
to get to the sea as often as possible with his new flybridge
boat.
