In the heart of the “Périgord Noir”
4-star Hotel La Villa Romaine, located at 7 kms from Sarlat, is right in the middle of the Perigord noir,
a magnificent country side that owes its name to the dark foliage of the holm oak. The Dordogne, which is
part of the Perigord Noir, is named after our well-known river on which you can also canoe. It has an
unspoiled landscape, with a beautiful valley and its famous castles with sensational views.
Close to Lascaux, which is situated in the Vezere valley, a site famous for its Paleolithic cave paintings, you
find yourself in an area full with history with plenty of places to visit, including gardens, museums, caves,
prehistoric sites and theme parks.
You are in a place with a great culinary tradition, which is rich and savoury. It is a place where we take to time

High class hotel services
As member of the chain ʻChâteaux et Hôtels Collectionʼ, 4-star hotel La Villa Romaine proposes
17 luxury rooms, including 2 suites and a room for guests of reduced mobility. They are all equipped
with air-conditioning, mini-bar, safe, hair dryer, TV and Wi-Fi and a King or Queen size bed.
One of the two suites is a duplex, which has a bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath tub and a separate
shower. The second suite has three rooms and can accommodate up to 6 guests, which is ideal for
family holidays or a party with friends.
A large infinity-edge swimming pool makes your stay even more enjoyable.
We can provide nature lovers with detailed maps of the area, should you wish to go out for a long
walk or a short stroll. There are bicycle hire facilities available near the hotel.

Your hosts, David Vacelet and Emilie Velut offer you a high class service which is personalized and
attentive by preparing small gifts and thoughtful gestures in order for you to have a great stay e.g.

The Restaurant
Our chef chooses to work with local producers and proposes a refined and savoury cuisine,
which puts the emphasis on the riches of the Perigord cuisine.
Menus are created using local and fresh products and whenever possible, organic produce.
The wine list is harmonious with a selection of natural and organic wines.

Sarlat, an urban medieval city, one of the most important in the world, at only 10 minutes
from the hotel.
The Dordogne Valley, and its 1001 castles at 15 kms from the hotel. The river flows between the
cliffs and the castles of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period. You can visit the castles of
Beynac, Castlenaud, Fenelon, Montfort, Milandes (Joséphine Bakerʼs home) and the splendid
walled town of Domme with exceptional views.
You can also discover these wonders by plane, ULM or hot air balloon
La Villa Romaine is also ideally situated for an escapade in the Lot. Rocamadour is only 1 hour
away (1st site of Christianity, classified as exceptional site)
as is the abyss of Padirac (subterranean site, geologic treasure).
Prehistoric heritage

Lascaux (25 kms): the cave of Lascaux is the highest ranked of the European prehistoric sites
by the number and the quality of its paintings. Lascaux II recreates the incomparable atmosphere
of the original cave.
Font-de-Gaume (30 kms): Magnificent original cave. First polychromatic paintings discovered
in Perigord. The site is closed on Saturdays. Reservation in advance is required.
